Hear hear! I have been utterly fixated on Angels since I was a teenager, for one singular reason: THEY'RE ALL WOMEN, AND THEY'RE ALL FREAKING GORGEOUS!!! Can't imagine a better creature type in the game. Sexy AND powerful? Where do I sign up??
@@jacob4920 I agree but male angels are not behind by any strech, New capena's Angel of suffering is mad cool card. I remember when he used to enable my unholy invocation of an angelic army via haunting voyage xD. Man I just love the archetype
@@celeridad6972 Perhaps I'd embrace the gender-swap more if Demons got the same treatment. I want to see some sexy succubi on some of my magic cards, before my hetero-ass embraces male Angels! lol
Well just found you today on RUclips & this is my third straight video of yours I've watched so far! Love videos that are 20 minutes or longer. I know it's alot of work for you but it shows in the quality of all your video's. Definitely the best Lore channel I've watched on RUclips hands down.
I was hoping for angels after A Study in Fire, so I was really hyped when you teased this earlier! This is a really, really awesome video! Angels are my favorite creatures in Magic, so I'll watch this several times to ingest all the information. I'm looking forward to seeing what Wizards does with angels in Kaldheim. Valkyries seem like the obvious route. I feel like they've made angels between the planes different and similar enough, but it'd be interesting to see them push the envelope a little bit. At least something along the lines of halos blinding the Zendikari angels (aesthetically and lorewise). Watching this video really makes me want to make an angel EDH deck, so I guess I'm off to spend a couple of hours on Scryfall :) Thanks for putting in the effort to create these videos! They always brighten up my day :)
Thank you so much! Angels are very interesting and super fun to play. I could definitely see valkyrie make an appearance in Kaldheim, especially since the coldsnap/ice age has already given us an angel valkyrie. I'm happy to have given you some inspiration, good luck with the deck building!
I love this channel, best MTG lore channel in my books. Having said that, is there no love for Selenia, Dark Angel? I think that tragic love story with Crovax is amazing.
I really enjoyed the content! 5 minutes in, I expected it to be almost over... Great feeling when I saw there.was over half an hour remaining 😊 And at this quality, your channel will definitely be getting growing. It’s always fun to find a good channel before it gets big 😁
The Lorebrarians I always do! All of your videos really show how much work you put into them and I’m excited whenever I see one in my subscription feed
Really enjoyed this one. I do have one quick note though. The Boros angels could hear prayers (Feather said as much to Agrus Kos) and Razia herself was worshiped by some, but the angels themselves never really had a religion for the mortals, like you said.
Awesome video like always! I remember when I started playing MTG (Onslaught block - 8th Edition - Mirrodin block) my WG Tooth and Nail deck with large angels like Akroma. I was really proud of that deck I invented (I didn't know back then that it was awfully slow for serious games).
This brings back memories... The first rare card I got from a booster pack was the iridescent angel (4/4 flier with protection against all colors) Are you planning to do something halloween themed next week? I'd guess something with werewolves or ghosts.
Great video! MTG angels are one of the most inspiring things for me. Always loved them, for all this years. Small correction. You said that Ravnica angels cannot hear prayers - which is not 100% true. Feather herself said (in one of the first Ravnica books) that when you say angel's name - she will hear you even across the whole plane.
Good stuff, but as far as I know, the angels of Zendikar wear their halos in front of their eyes as penance for lack of effort against the Eldrazi, not as a product of eldrasi powers
The angels see it as thier penance for their inability to stop the Eldrazi, but from "The Defiance of Angels" Beyer tells us the halo was forcefully lowered by the Eldrazi to act as a "leash" and preventing them to aid the mortals. The archangels don't have their halos lowered because they were strong enough to resist the Eldrazi. Given this, I don't believe it is self-imposed.
I don’t play magic myself, way too expensive, but I love the lore of all the planes and now that DND is getting sourcebooks I’m hyped for when Innistrad comes to 5e
It technically already happened. There was a pdf about how to adapt Curse of Strahd to Innistrad. I think it dropped around the same time as Eldritch Moon, a few years ago
@@TheLorebrarians you know what's crazy. I just built a black and white angel deck and didn't even notice she was the wayward sister. Thank you! I play avacyn, both versions of Gisela and aurelia in my Naya deck.
@@TheLorebrarians you may be closer than I initially thought! Much of Central Europe actually uses the hard G as opposed to the Jh sound, so if we're taking into account the inspirational origins of many of these creatures, you nailed that part :P keep doing you!
its interesting in the bible angels are not just in human form and also are not dipicted as female But male since female is a counter part to the male creation. its interesting
Angels are by far my favorite creatures in Magic
Same
Slivers are my favourite but then again I’m not a good person.

The other Innistrad angel sister is Liesa. Her card came out in Commander Legends.
Great video btw!!
Yep, she was spoiled after the video was made. Thanks!
Hey this was my suggestion some weeks ago! Really amazing video, it was super well researched mate!
I'm always listening to suggestions in the comments 😉 thank you, I'm glad you like it! It was quite an undertaking of research
I love seeing just how expansive Magic lore is. Keep it up!

That's a great point, thanks for bringing it up
My first handbuilt modern deck was mono-white angel human. I spent years building and tweaking it. To this day I hold it in immense pride.
Impressive, if you want an even tougher challenge try building a mono-white angel human commander deck

Thank you, sounds like a really fun deck for some casual spellslinging!
I remember that deck! (The base deck that you were building onto was called Tooth and Nail, right?) That came out in my first few years of playing XD
Great video! I love playing angels in MTG. Very well researched content and presented thoughtfully, definitely subscribing!

Glad you enjoyed!

That is a good question and a great suggestion! I had plans for a different video but might save it for later and fit in a Halloween episode 👻

Yep, you're right. And angels are probably my favorite creatures behind dragons!
Fun Fact, Leisa from Commander Legends is the Fourth, Wayward sister from Innistrad.
Yep! Unfortunately I just missed her as I uploaded it before Legends dropped
@@TheLorebrarians Loved the vid. I've had an Angel deck since before Urza's. It's my fav deck.
Thank you so much for this video. I cannot wait for the other creature videos
People have often asked me why my favorite Angel is Atraxa. All I can tell them is that it's because she's just so freaking ATRAXIVE!! lol
Once again an absolute masterwork! Thank you

You might have to remake this with kladheim out now its full of angels!

Man, I love angels, Innistrad lore is my favorite one of all MTG
Then get ready for the next few weeks, innistrad lore will be covered in depth!
Chek out the lore of serra's realm

Great work!
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Where does the artwork for all the backgrounds come from?
Many are from artofmtg.com or from the illustrators websites/uploads.
Really love this lore thanks so much for your knowledge of this MTG story. Keep staying Pawzitive & Safe Bro
So happy you enjoyed it, and same to you!
I've never been told what the A.R STOOD for so I looked it up. So it's the inception of the brothers war correct?
The Argivian Reckoning dating system begins with the birth of Urza(0 AR). So the end of the brothers war and activation of the sylex occurs in 64 AR
Great thank you for explaining it to me
Big fan of your work! I think you may have pronounced Gisella wrong though
