  • This was the second door I have added to my Aliner Scout Lite. This time it was a lot easier since I had done the same door on the rear of this camper. Now I have room to put a 10 x 10 canopy in across the front under the bunk. One note, if you have a Ranger model most likely your camper already comes with these same type storage doors only they are painted black.
    Door, This is the site that I ordered mine from: www.ebay.com/i...

    Well done! Thanks for your helpful video! I'm inspired to install one myself after watching your video.

      Take it slow and it will work out well. Not nearly as hard as I thought it would be.

    What a nice clean job. I've been searching the internet for blog, videos on how to widen an entry door for an rv and this is the closest i can find.

      Be aware that all RV’s are not put together the same. You may have structural members in the way

    Great video! What size stainless steel screws did you use and what type of blade for the jigsaw please?

    • @Turtle3863
      @Turtle3863  11 месяцев назад

      Just a standard saw blade for wood. I think the screws are 1/2 in long

    Anyone else see how close he was to those wires?

    • @FearlessFred848

      I have done doors on 2 Aliners and yes before using a jig saw fro the outside, I mark top, bottom, and side door location(under inside framing) by making a small hole with a drill. At that time use your template inside to check for wires in the way and try to duct tape them out of the way before using the template on the outside to mark and cutting with the jig saw.

    You think that A liner would have done this mod, Rockwood Is definitely ahead with storage for the A frames.

      They do this one on the Ranger 10 which is the same box as this one with all the stuff, The Scout Lite is a stripped down version of the Ranger.

      @@Turtle3863 That is what I have, a 2017 Scout Lite. I purchased 2 12x16 doors. Will be installing one on driver side front under the bed, and another on passenger side rear under the dinette. Ridiculous that these don't already have the doors. So difficult to get to these areas. I'm also replacing the "opening" where the shore power cord goes (under the driver side rear dinette) with an 8x8 locking compartment door with a hinge that covers the 'hole' once you store the shore power cord. This will also allow me to get my hands in there to pull out the grey hose and move things around a little. Thanks for your video, super helpful!!

    Hi Bob. I've watched your video twice now. I just got a Chalet Alpine that has no storage doors on it. I want to add one like yours. One thing I noticed was that you did not put Trex on the sides. Is it good enough to just hold it top and bottom? Thank you, great video. Will have to look at your other modifications. Jay

    • @Turtle3863
      @Turtle3863  4 года назад +1

      Jay Berube my name is not Bob, you can just call me Turtle, yes, Trek on top and bottom is plenty to hold it in place. You might want to find out from other Chalet owners as to how your walls are constructed. Newer A liners use a single foam and laminate board. Some camper use ribs for the structure. You would not want to cut one of those.

    Would a 20" wide door be feasible or would there be issues with that size? I'm thinking I'd love to be able to access closer to the full width.

    • @Turtle3863
      @Turtle3863  3 года назад +1

      I think it might fit, just do not want to remove too much of the structure

    Why didn't you put the hinges on the bottom, out of the way when it is open?

      For safety if left unlatched, I installed a clip to hold the door open when in use
