I was received into the Orthodox Church on Lazarus Saturday, so this chant is especially significant for me. Thanks for uploading.

Lately I can't stop listening to this song. It's stuck in my head. This and the Akathist to the Theotokos.

Listening to and singing this hymn on Palm Sunday 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, my best attempt at some semblance of worship at home. What a comfort it is to hear these powerful words sung now. May God preserve the Orthodox Church, and her faithful unto the ages. Amen.

Thankfully we can celebrate Lazarus Saturday at church this year, after churches were closed last year for Covid concerns.

Byzantine chant is where most of the music of Asia Minor (now Turkey ) developed form as it goes back 1700 years. The stile and musical forms were so much part of the life of the Christian population it affected the development of other music in the region.

More relevantly, that’s because this hymn is particularly sung in the Antiochian Orthodox Church located in the Levant.

Because the Turks and Arabs took over Byzantine music and science when they invaded the territories.
