    That's a great story, thank for sharing!
    I'm a beginner as well and I could literally hear the coach shouting 'bend your knees!' while watching the first 9 months. 😂That knees part is my biggest trouble.
    That backward thing at the very end of the video (I don't know how it's called in English) is just amazing!

    • @kelaex
      @kelaex  2 года назад +4

      thank you! I believe you mean the backwards power pulls and they're something I'm quite proud of haha :D I wanted to learn them so badly.
      Good luck on your figure skating journey! Let me know if you ever upload a progress video :)

    Love this! I'm trying to convince my husband that this is a worthwhile investment for me. I used to love figure skating! I never did it competitively, but used to just go all the time. Now I want to take lessons as an adult (38) and bring our daughter (7) and let her live my dream out. :D I love that you did this.

    This is some absolutely amazing progress!!!
    I don't know How far you've come with your spins now but with the speed of your progress I expect it's going quite well. A bit of a tip when spinning is to really get that Sharp turn into the spin and everything else honestly looks amazing😍

    • @kelaex

      thank you so much! Spinning still is a source of frustration still, but I'm hoping to get there eventually! :)

    I’ve watched videos of people ice skating and when they spin they have their arms out only at the beginning and then they quickly hug themselves and bring their arms in which makes them spin fast and fuller. Hope that helps

    • @juliam4036
      @juliam4036 2 года назад +18

      First you need to learn how to spin without crossing your arm, just to practice your balance. And only when you are comfortable enough with your arms out you start crossing them. Because it makes spinning way more faster and without a good balance you will just fall

    Whoah such bad luck with lockdowns !
    For me as much as I can’t skate as often as I want I’m kinda proud, I’ve been skating since less than a year and I can do pretty much all the single jumps (except the axel). But I still struggle with the most basic spins 😢
    Can’t imagine how it must have been to go through all the lockdowns, it certainly restrained your progression.

    Your loop is great! The key to spinning is to get your free leg around squarely in front of you before you pick up too much centrifugal force before you develop the muscles to do it without thought.

    That's great !! But I noticed how much the Drag Pick was causing you to trip or fall... so we grinded off the Pick to make learning and practicing faster. She doesn't need it or use it for anything anyway. She will use the Pick when it comes time for Jumping, if ever. She's not to crazy about Jumps and Spinning Jumps... just likes Figure Skating without those.

    I'm tempted to go to a parking lot but I'm afraid I'd get yelled at by security or sth... seeing that you're in the same country and don't have the problem maybe I should try that some time this winter.

    • @kelaex
      @kelaex  Год назад +1

      it really depends on the parking lot, I think. Outdoor ones are usually less guarded than indoor ones, but you can always try your luck. My tip is to not go alone if you can - feels a lot better to have someone and is a bit safer :p

  • @SassySkaters

    When you are going into your spin suck your belly button in as close to your spine as possible, press the crown of your head through the roof, and try to center your weight on your skating/spinning leg. If you are traveling across the ice while spinning you are not centering your weight. Keep working hard, so jealous that you have some jumping down already.

    What was frustrating about your first pair of skates?

    • @kelaex
      @kelaex  2 года назад

      @hekoriginaljni6489 2 года назад

      @@kelaex thank you for the reply, I was thinking of getting the same skates since there are no skating shops in my country right now and I'm afraid to order online without fitting. Despite low quality, were blades curved enough to enable you spinning and execution of other simple elements?

    • @kelaex
      @kelaex  2 года назад +1

      @@hekoriginaljni6489 hmm, since I only had them for a short time I didn't get to one foot spins. I did learn my two foot spin on it but I didn't really have much of a rocker tbh, I felt my blades stopping me quite a bit. I think they were okay for getting me into skating but if you already know you want to pursue it, I wouldn't really recommend them as I switched after about three months.
