AIRY LOW NOTES (and why they are hard)
Premise
1. If the amount of air you exhale determines how thick the folds are and how much they come together
2. And to sing low notes you have to have thick folds
3. And to have airy notes means your folds are not entirely together
Then to have airy low notes you
have to use your breath to create thick folds but also not use too much so that those thick folds do not come together. Yes you can retract your folds through other means, but ultimately you still need them to come together to sing. This is an uncommon corner case technique and is made even more difficult when the larynx is tilted to add vibrato.
If you want to practice this you can
1. do a simple sigh when you are relaxed by saying ho. After you try a few times on different occasions, you should be able to find the sound.
2. Practice singing this by sustaining the sound for one or two seconds. When you can do so successfully
3. Sustain this sound while walking in place.

for a brief moment, I heard him singing those gospel accidental notes. The ones we hear when the black preacher is huffing through when preaching from the pulpit or that Gospel singer starts using when they get to a unique point of their song or at the end when ministering. I heard you!
