Back in 2008 we werent waiting for cs go. Most PCs couldnt even run source. We were waiting for better hardware 😂 I swear 97% gamers could only run 1.6 on their PCs. When CS:GO came out it was late 2011. felt very much like weird xbox game. You can look up cs go beta videos on youtube. No wonder everyone hated it and continued with CSS and 1.6 I think most didnt expect anything out of CSGO and wanted a real successor (CS 1.7, CS2?). But valve stepped up their game and made CS GO playable in 2013. Then rest is history.
CS 1.6's low resolution graphics are actually good for your eyes... I guess many of us are into our 30s and 40s. We can definitely still play 1.6 for hours, but not so much on CS:GO. The fancy graphics make me dizzy after 30mins.
