    For anyone who wants to keep this strictly by the book, the black Denso/Iseki oil filter that came on the tractor (3710280M3) is the one spec'd for the GC1700 series. The white 72201898 used during the oil and filter change is the old model used on the GC2000 series. Both are well constructed, but the Iseki filter has was more filtering capacity. Internally, the AGCO 72201898 is identical to a Wix 51360, or NAPA 1360, so you could really just save some money and buy one of those if you didn't want to use the correct Iseki 3710280M3 filter for your GC1700 series tractor.

    Thanks for the education. I realize this video is almost four years old, but still useful. I just purchased a 2018 GC1715 new and will probably be a similar procedure. Thumbs up

      I would agree, it will be very close to the same thing. I really appreciate you watching. Tony

    Really appreciate finding this youtube clip on servicing the 1705. I've had mine for almost a year and it is going to be coming up for it's 50hour soon. I appreciate all the pointers as I'm not normally one to do routine services on my vehicles but am actually going to service my tractor as watching this video clip has made things so much easier to grasp. Thank-you.

    I've got a GC 1705. Twice now I've had maintenance trouble with small fan underneath. Both times it had been the result of bush hogging tall grass on a pasture. The first was the fan itself was broken by the grass hitting it. The second time was the hydrologic fluid seal around the fan that was torn up by the grass hitting it. I'll pass over the grass in one direction and much will be pushed down and not cut. I do a second pass in the opposite direction and it is then the grass pokes toward the fan or the seal around the fan. Replacing the fan was not too difficult. The hydrologic fluid sprayed all over the field and driveway in not good at all. My question is, can there be a shield adapted around the fan that prevents the grass from poking the fan or seal? I'm thinking something that is bolted on and is similar to the shield around the filter. Help!

      I mean this with the most respect. It sounds like the wrong machine for the work you are doing. It will bush hog 6 inches without a problem. I would not get it in the real tall stuff.

    • @sudley
      @sudley 3 года назад

      @@TonysTractorAdventureThank you. I want to make the machine "right for the job" I am not made of money to buy a dedicated machine for every job. I have a nice DR Power bush hog, great little machine - their best of all they make. It would take me a week to do what took a day in the tractor and it would be cut too short.
      So, what can be done to make this work better? I see in the part 2 of this video the oil shield is removable. Might a larger shield be fashioned to deflect and protect the vulnerable plastic fan and the apparent "delicate" seal?

      I have seen a video of an oversized guard somewhere. That should help.

    Great little tractor. Ive owned mine for over 6 years and still use it a couple times a week. Still has the original belts on the engine and deck! I think it has 600 hours on it now. I did put a new battery in at 5 years. Ive recently bought the 1734 with a backhoe on it for digging and snow removal. The little tractor has retired to grass cutting duty only now. :-)

    you did not cover the filter by the rear axel. How often does that get cleaned?

    • @jackdurning8637
      @jackdurning8637 6 лет назад

      The book says you have to pull the tire to do this. Can it be done without pulling the tire? Our is there not enough room to get it out?

    I found the same thing with the extra oil, as for the radiator screen i've had many tractors large and small and i cleaned the screens everyday. Now that i only have 10 acres I have two of these tractors. A 2008 GC2600 and a 2015 GC1715 i love them both my 2600 has 2200 hrs. on it and it is still like a rock.

    Tony, would you say that the maintenance on the Massey Ferguson sub compact is easier than the John Deere and Kubota tractors? After watching videos of routine maintenance being performed on each, it looks it to me. Thanks for the videos. I am in the market and the Massey Ferguson is one of my picks.

      @@TonysTractorAdventure i can see changing the engine oil at 50 hours, but all the oils seems a bit excessive to me and i only watched part 1! I am all for keeping up with maintenance, so if this is what is suggested by MF, i guess i will be doing it.

    • @darkwinter6028
      @darkwinter6028 5 лет назад

      dynocompe - read your manual. The 50hr service is to get the break-in fluids out. It’s every 100hrs afterwords. However, as I do with all my engines I change the engine oil earlier than the maximum interval (3000 miles w/ synthetic on cars; and will do 50hrs w/ synthetic on my GC1723EB).
