I attended the evening performance of Miyako’s piano recital in Tokyo at the beginning of December. Watching a beautiful young woman, resplendent in her dark navy gown playing a mixture of metal arrangements and classical pieces is something that I will never forget. You’re spot on with the observation that she puts real emotion into her playing. There are now three live recordings of this ending and each is subtly different. She played 7 pieces, no sheet music on a beautiful black Steinway in a gorgeous venue obviously suited to classical music. I travelled 10,000 kilometres there and 10,000 kilometres back to see it, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Wow Alek. So cool you were able to see her play live like that. It would be worth it. She’s special.
@@bobcieslinski ps, forgot to mention. Asami performs the Swan Lake dying swan scene in all live versions as the piano solo is performed at the end.
Lovebites were already jedi-level musicians but they continue to push to improve. Asami's control and power are even more astonishing now than three years ago. Miyako's playing is even more confident. Thanks for coming back to them--they are simply an amazing band.
Well said!
Harunas thunder drums, Famis rumbling bass, two bewitched guitars and an angelic voice.. Doesnt get alot better than this!
I love the way you describe them. Perfect.
@@bobcieslinski Thanks Bob, appreciate it!
Asami's angelic presence and soaring vocals are at impeccable levels in this performance, surrounded by a masterpiece of a musical composition. and I can't wait to experience this in person next September!
That final Midori solo is one of my favorites from her.
An often overlooked, yet crucial part of this masterpiece. You are rightly impressed.
Swan Song is a masterpiece. The outro is moving. I wish this version had the Chopin intro.
Me too
LOVEBITES is "the next big thing". They just need to get out there and tour the world. 2024 will be a big year for them.
I think their "Tokyo Garden Theater" show in September is going to be AMAZING. I expect them to film it, stream it, and
release a Blu-ray for it. Take my money! 🤘🏼🐺🤘🏼
lol yep I hear ya.
9:57Miyako’s 🎸pick throw🐺✨
I always appreciate your knowledgeable insight into your videos Bob. Especially focusing in to what Haruna is doing. I know most people really realize how good she is technically but her creativity is mind blowing.
Thanks Robin! I always enjoy hearing what you have to say.
Just rewatched your first ever reaction to Lovebites back in October 22, which was to Swan Song too. I always loved the impressive Chopin piece that Miyako played at the start so was a bit stunned when I watched this new performance with Fami on bass and saw it wasn't included...but it didn't detract from yet another brilliant performance from this superb band! It's good to change things up and avoid stagnation and Miyako still gave us a divine piano finish so I'm happy. Look forward to seeing your reaction to this performance - I'm sure it'll be instructive as always. PS Yes, I did come here at 5pm...then realised I was a day early! 😂🤘
lol that’s funny Tony. I often wonder about that when videos are out on premiere. Yeah I remember that one. I was blown away by Miyakos piano playing and then her guitar playing. She was a superstar to me just playing one instrument like she does would be enough but two is unbelievable. Take care my friend!

@@bobcieslinski You wouldn't wanna try and keep up with Midori or Haruna in the gym, Bob. 😉 💪
@@bobcieslinski You first reacted to Band-Maid's CHOOSE ME a year ago yesterday! Been a good year!
🤘🐺🤘Swan Song Live 2021 is performed by Miyako with an Acoustic Grand Piano .
There is also the instrumental version from the Best of 4CD.
Wow that would be awesome.

Frozen serenades was a beauty too...
Brilliant review as always Bob.
Thanks again!
she did train as a classical pianists when she was three of four she startes it hink i read, started guitar at 18
they come in italy next june, the problem is that will be on wednesday in milan but we will find a way to be there😋
MIYAKO SUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE🔥🤘
Awesome review as usual Bob. I believe you have also reacted to the 2020 "Five of a Kind" version of the same song with the Chopin intro. Just wondering what your thoughts are between the 2 LIVE performances ?
Yes I did do that one and it was the very first one I did. I loved Miyako’s piano piece that was the intro. It hooked me right away. Then she wowed me with a guitar solo later on. I was hooked and she quickly become my favorite. Now that I now these ladies all a bit better I can see they are world class musicians and everything they do turns to gold. This new one is different but we still have a great piano solo by Miyako. The rest of the song is even better than the original just because they have all improved so much since that video.
@@bobcieslinski Agreed. I miss the Chopin intro from the first one but I thought Asami's vocals got even stronger and fuller in the latest version. Also, Miyako's slowed-down/half-time feel piano outro in this variant is more appropriate for the story-ending of a "dying swan".
Por Dios Asami que grandiosa interpretación 🤟🏻😭
🔥LOVEBITES🐺MASTERCLASS🔥
THANKS
I love how Miyako in this song proves to us all how closely connected classical music is to metal. I can imagine this being played with a full orchestra as a classical piece with just minor changes in arrangements. I guess metal really IS the classical music of our time...
It really is connected to all music for sure.
Sushi・Anime・LOVEBITES♥🤘
Hi Bob ! When I saw the title it felt like deja vu. Wasn't this song your first reaction to Lovebites? I'm happy to see your love of this song hasn't wavered. I'm biased to the Chopin intro myself. I think the accents from Haruna make this song really pop. She is the drum accent master. I also wish the piano was a little louder in the mix. Great reaction again? And thanks for all your insights. Cheers !
Thanks Richard and yes you are right. I was immediately blown away by that Chopin opener and they had me hooked.
Another brilliant reaction. I really enjoy your commentary. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Thank you kindly!

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been through despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to never care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan

Good reaction. Another masterpiece from Miyako incorporating classical music into modern metal. Great lyrics from Asami. Hope they perform in a venue in my country during their worldtour this year. Thanks for this reaction.
A wow performance from a wow band. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great observations once again Bob. You should checkout next the 'live' version of Winds of Transylvania from LOVEBITES. After viewing the original video awhile back I didn't think it would be humanly possible to be able to perform this song well 'live'. Well man was I wrong. Please check-out & review this epic song next. Thanks! And keep-up the great work!
Thanks I appreciate it. I’ll have to check it out.
Love Lovebites 🐺🤘🏴
Sound engineer on the piano needs a telling off, i couldnt hear it until all the music dropped out. Haruna is incredible, doesnt get the credit she deserves.
Hi Bob, as promised I just ordered a pair of the earplugs you praised, using your link below this video. 🙂In the Eargasm checkout, your name appeared. 🙂Now I am really looking forward to receiving them. 🙂Thanks again for that recommendation. 🙂🐺DE
Awesome, thank you! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I keep finding new things to use them for too. Let me know what you think after you’ve used them. I’d love to hear.
Time for some more Jacob Collier. "All Night Long" is old but still amazing but among newer pieces there is the Grammy nominated song he did with "saje" (they're also worth listening to on their own) or the Mahogany session version of "Little Blue" where some fans join him in the kind of improvised choral background that he's done with large audiences of amateurs all around the world. I was stunned when i saw him do it at the Kennedy Center.
Hey Bryan. I’ve had a few of his on the list but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. You’ve made me want to record one now. Thanks.
I still prefer the 2020 live recording of this masterpiece because of the better sound mixing and Miyako's Chopin intro of course.

I absolutely _appreciate_ the respect these musicians from Lovebites show _each other_ : All of them mistresses of their craft, all of them unique characters shaped by life, each of them with a fundamentally _positive_ attitude and approach towards life and life's changing seasons and circumstances.
When Midori plays a guitar, as mistress of guitars, she is allowed to shine and has every right to shine. When Miyako plays a piano, as mistress of pianos, she is allowed to shine and has every right to shine.
What a _phenomenal_ band of _brilliant_ musicians, with a unique and very special "vibe" which probably no other (Metal) band has. They really _are_ "special", actually. 🐺💮 DE
Thanks so much for thr kind words and what great comments and they seem so true. These ladies are just down to earth really nice and incredible people. They just happen to world class music as too.
For this revival concert, the members apparently requested a more live sound, and compared to previous live recordings, it seems that more environmental sounds such as echoes of the venue and cheers were balanced out, so that although the clarity of the instruments was reduced, the sense of realism was increased. However, the sound quality of Midori's guitar clearly changed as soon as Miyako played the electronic piano, probably due to some accident that prevented the line output of the piano from being recorded.
I allways want to point out. That its one thing to be a machine on the drums. But Haruna is at the same time one of absolute most musical metal drummers ever.
Her fills and her cymbal work. The ability to at the same time as she goin like flash down the highway also be groovy. Workin those dubbla bass drums ar the same time as her hands layin those cymbal and snare/top fills is straight amazing.
And it also the fact that its not one 7 min song. Its an whole set of maybe 2 ours she plays like that. So she has also perfected her play style to at the same time be ergonomical and not powerwasting....
Miako is first and foremost a piano virtuoso. Thats her main instrument since she was a very little girl.
What Ive heard she started play guitar round 18 years of age. She also plays a cuple other instruments barely...
Since the old basist quited the band Miako is the main composer.
Asami does the main part of lyrics.
And yes Asami s past has been as an ballerina.
Singin at start was more of soul/pop before comin to Lovebites.
Midori who competes in "Fitness" that's a sort of bodybuilding style. Midori that also is an astonishing acoustic guitar player. And in comparison to Miako
Guitar is her first instrument.
(It says something of the musicality of Miako)
And then we have the multi skilled Fami on bass.
Who dont allways get to show her whole skill when she plays metal. But on her own chanel and in other recordings on YT she shows she master every technique there possible is on the bass. The old basist was a very skilled finger playing basist too. But Fami has a very broader skillset.
But listening carefully in good earphones or a high end bass reproducing loudspeakers. Ure left with youre mouth open.
Just amazing bass lines.
And in some songs like "Judgment day" she even put in some slaps. Very uncommon in powermetal...
The only thing Fami this far lacks against the old basist. Is that self-assured confident stage present. But she is also very young. So give her a year more....
But what is making the platform for the guitars and singer to shine. Is Lovebites amzing rythm section.
As you said all of them are just exeptional world class skilled musicians. In my mind i cn only think of DragonForce that have a skillset clos in powermetal/trash style...
But as a whole band... Theres very few. Male or female bands that can compare. And when we add the fact that Lovebites never ever do a bad song. So the songwriting AND also live performances are also top notch.
We have a band that in their genre very very few today can compete with...
On top of this they all have just humble wonderful personalities.
Fami s smile can move mountains...
And you can allways tell how fun they have on stage... And also in their behind the scenes videos...
Ive heard that two of them are also mothers. Miako was far pregnant in one of their shows for an example.
One fun thing that many point out is the difference in personality between Midori and Miako. One more "all light's on me" outgiong person on stage. While Miako is a more introverted person. Both in private but also as she apear on stage..
Don't forget they have many older amazing songs you may haven't heard or reacted to yet.
That I would be happy if you would.
Favorite reactor - Favorite band ... :)
Wish you a great 2024
/ Stockholm/Sweden/ Jonny
Great comments and yes I know what fitness is. I’ve been in the gym for almost 49 years. She impresses me because it’s not easy doing that and being a musician in her level.

What a pity that the Chopin intro is missing, as it responds to the piano ending of the song.
Yeah I loved that in the original Swan Song that I heard Bernardo. The ending of this one at least had some piano which I loved.
Can you please do Becane a color show by Yame please it is one of my favorite songs
Why Lovebites, their mgmt. / engineers didn't include the Chopin intro and have the piano and guitar mix at proper levels is puzzling! (Maybe Miyako made a slight mistake as she did in the outro. Does anyone have footage of this particular concert with the Swan intro? - probably not, being Japan rules). In any case, what an awesome song and performance with Fami! (I'm sure Fami is why they used this version). Here’s the better mixed version with the Chopin intro: ruclips.net/video/WBhtqgiXEA4/видео.html Thx, Bob!
Thanks Tom! I loved that intro. It’s was the first Lovebites song I did in the channel.

@@bobcieslinski I have seen them all and they are all great and professional.
+1 for "Journey to the Other Side". IMO the most emotional live performance by Lovebites.
Asami studied ballet until her late teens, studied for a time in Los Angeles. Hence her English fluency, speaking, reading and writing. She writes most of the lyrics. She left ballet because there's much call for 4'11" ballerinas.
The sound engineer dropped the ball on the piano, to low and mics poorly placed.
