This game is what inspired me to start skating in the first place.
The graphics seemed so advance when I thought back on it. Now actually seeing them I take that back. Either way I loved this game as a kid.

They cut up parts of the music
They wanted ir to be rated e so everyone can play it. In the ps1 version, thos was rated teen but I dont think a lot of teens played this lol. So the ported it to the n64 where it sold well. I gotta tell ya, something about older games sound like they did not sell well

This game just brings up so many memories from when I was a kid...I used to play this game on my older brother's PS1. I had a blast playing it, this game was what inspired me and my older brothers to start skating. I truly feel like this game was the started for a deeper bond between me and my brothers. Now 13 years later, I got it for my N64 and I can't wait to start playing it again.
I played the N64 version as a kid.
I'm surprised how more challenging the PS1 Version is when I played it later in life. The N64 was always a cake walk.

Love this! The remake did such a great job realizing these levels and getting rid of those muddy colors. I do miss that classic hud font though, and i think i prefer the amber lighting on Streets to the remakes cold blue color palette!

I remember playing this with my friend, we were both trash and didn't even know how to do anything but jump and spin, then by complete accident my friend does a stalefish and gets 350 points. we called this a "killer move" and we spent the rest of the day finding new "killer moves".

I came here cause I Got a 64 for Christmas plan on buying childhood games
The only problem was it couldn't fit all the music like a disc, so some songs were missing and others were cut short and looped. I think Police Truck was literally a looped instrumental with the verses taken out.
I heard that the N64 version has some differences in comparison with the PS1, but to be fair, this was a huge game to port, and even though the music seems to be edited with Movie Maker, it sounds very good, and the graphics seems cool too, but for the gameplay, I can't tell which one feels more natural and comfortable to play
OK, this hits me right in the childhood because in 1998 I got a Nintendo64 on Christmas morning and I also got the privilege of opening this game that came with my Nintendo 64 and I played the absolute crap out of it along with goldeneye
some of the songs had to be spliced if i'd recalled because of the swearing in some of the lyrics and removal of blood was in this version as well

Bro I sucked ass at this game, mainly cuz I didn't know how to play exactly AND YOU MADE IT LOOK EASY! Loved this game though, thank you for the long play.
This is the version I played. It's so funny seeing how primitive the graphics were in hindsight. At the time, it felt like they couldn't get any better. (Edit: also no reverts or manuals in this version meant super high scores were harder).

Not the first Skateboard Videogame, but certainly the first one to get really famous.
It must have required some good compression skills to get the music in a 12mbyte small cartdridge.
Even then, they were only able to fit them in by cutting them down into sets of loops that repeated in a different fashion than the original songs. Still, it's a damn good method considering the limits of the system they were given to work with. Also notable is that the later 2 THPS games that were ported to N64 were given substantially higher-bitrate music samples, as they had more cart space by that time.
Thats what i kinda meant by skills ;) I know it's some type of module track. Although there is no standard like in the SNES since the N64 didn't have a Soundchip.
Ironically there are a handful of games for the N64 that have FMV cutscenes, notably Resident Evil 2, Pokemon Puzzle League, and Toy Story 2 (of all things) so if they'd been given more time to polish their compression, they could have likely fit at least a few of the full tracks on the cartridge.
Skate or Die was all the rage when I was a kid. Kinda deflated when the sequel came out.

The PSX version.
Dreamcast is by far better. THPS2x on the Xbox includes all levels from 1 & 2, and that version is pretty good as well.
