This is exactly what we'd see of Hitler today, and damn, I love how this speech goes. He completely controls the room with his mere presence, despite not even being the host. He takes the point of the comedy on the sign and completely runs away with it. It's mesmerising how he can do that... and remember this is an actor attempting to imitate him, not even Hitler himself. It just shows it's not only about the idea, it's about the man who represents it, the skills he has, how he captivates people, and how he represents his idea. How quickly an audience goes from hatred to admiration within a minute or two of speaking, like sheep.

What makes this movie spectacular is that they were able to give us who he was. When the movie begins we start knowing the monster he is. But then, as the movie goes on, we see his perspective, and understand that he’s just human. And that’s the scariest part of it all. Because they pulled a trick that is pulled off every day. A person with the most sinister intentions, so long as they can sound even somewhat reasonable, can trick a whole crowd of people. That is the genius of this film.
What do you mean? This film made him super likeable. So likeable, in fact, that they had to add in a scene where he killed a dog, even though Adolf was known to love dogs and treat them with kindness. What monstrous things did he do in this film?
Yes, that was a grave mistake from the author. H would never have done that. Perhaps would have had the owner jailed, but never would have killed an animal, after all, modern animal- and nature protection laws are his idea. He invented "animal rights". Also other things we now take for granted like workplace well being. And ever wondered where the word "kindergarten" came from...?
really loved how they leaned fully into the what if scenario of if he got his hands on a way to reach people as easily as a TV broadcast, really showcased how terrifying his speeches were with how he was able to capture and draw in a crowd with his words
I have man respect for the fact that, while this film is a comedy at heart, it bothers to aknowledge the man as human, and some some Disney-esque villain we've come to view that whole time period as due to a near century of overblown entertainment for it. It dares to actually draw attention to glaring, modern issues not just in Germany, but most of the industrialized world today. Something he could have truly seen had he been time-traveled to today - it's the kind of speech he probably WOULD give in that situation. It's refreshing to humanize the man instead of treating him and that entire period of history like some Saturday Morning cartoon villain.
The sad part is, this is meant to be lampooning, not just the concepts, but you - the people. It is meant to be spitting in your face, gas lighting you by saying what you absolutely know to be an unquestionable truth, a tenet of mere observation. But then twisted into a joke. You, the viewer, are their punchline. That they can spit in your face, gas light you so brazenly, and instead of offended; you laugh. You laugh nervously to excuse the fact that you know that not only is what he is saying is right, but because in your heart of hearts you know this is all still part of the constant gaslighting. It's a conspiracy theory, at first. Then it's a fact, but it's a good thing, here's ten reasons why. Every single thing you know to be true you've been lied to and gaslit over for years, until they cannot avert the obvious realisation of the unthinking masses at which point they get in front of it with a "It's true, but it's a good thing." And here's ten reasons why. Number eight will shock you. And they profit from it. The reality is many of you deserve to be mocked this openly. But if you google knights fighting snails you'll begin to understand how long this war of attrition has been going on. And no, it's not the lombards, no it's not this group or that group. It's the one group that you cannot criticise. I've burned three accounts today just commenting--not even offensively--on them. The mere usage of their name, regardless of the context, will get you purged from all social media. They rule you. And they mock you. And they ritually humiliate you. Because apparently you haven't had enough yet, you aren't ready to stand up and say "I'm done. You're out. Again." For the 110th time.

@nicknickson3650 well first of all the Jews weren't an actual problem so even if he just wanted to move them that was pointless. Secondly you don't actually believe that do you, come on. Like I said, they are able to diagnose and call out problems extremely well, he does it in this very scene, child poverty, senior poverty, ect. There's definitely some better charismatic people but charisma is no longer a determiner for political power rather its more about connections and money. The power of silence............
In no relation to this video, I heard a very good saying once about the value of silence that many choose to ignore these days: "Better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and leave no doubt."
Only people with high charisma can make silence interesting.
The fact that this movie got removed from every single streaming platform tells us a lot about today's society
That perhaps any film that shows Hitler in anything approaching a semi favorable light is a awful idea because idiots will think he was actually miss understood. The results of his people getting into power was tens of millions dead.
The fact that most wars and some pretty dark things in history is a censored topic in most media is also a problem. It will never allow us to actually learn from them which we will inevitably repeat.

My favorite scene
