      I love the music. Everything is looking so so beautiful y’all. I have Azaleas to, they never die. I believe you’re spoiled a little. You have great parents. Marcus is the best husband. That’s hard work digging holes. Don’t forget to water them. It’s so hot, I water my flowers every other day. The temp reaches 90 degrees.

  • @DearTkeyah

    When planting in the ground dig the hole and put water in it. Add the plant in and water again and add granular fertilizer and then add your garden soil and water one more time. Just so the y don't dry out. You also don't want to use plastic in your yard. It doesn't break down and isn't breathable. Use landscape fabric or cardboard if needed.

    Your backyard looks good 🌺 🌱🌸 🌳 !
    Suggestions:
    1. You can make compost stalls and take your sticks, leaves, and garbage and use the broken down dirt in your plant beds and future raised gardens.
    2. You can burn your sticks into in your bonfire.
    3. Look into Hugelkultur for your future raised garden beds. You use a layer of sticks and branches at the base which breaks down overtime and helps to enrich the soil. It also helps not to have buy extra soil to fill the beds.

    I definitely love the continuous plant bed more. The care of a hydrangea is in it's name. They love water, and I mean daily watering. If not they lay down and get fussy. Lol. Plus they don't enjoy too much direct sun light. They like morning sun and evening shadow. I just bought my first hydrangea this year, it my favourite flower/plant. I did a lot of research before I bought it. I plan to buy more now that I know how to keep it happy. Great garden work. ☺️💐💐💐

    looks great! I knew that shed was going to be the cutest thing ever. Your yard is big enough that you don't have to go in a straight line. You can make some curves to give it some interest. Also, maybe consider putting some of the same plants together in a group to create a drift of the same things instead of alternating every other plant. it will make the plants that are the same look more lush and give you more of a full, cottage garden look. And you might want to invest in a drip irrigation system to prevent them from drying out in your heat. Gardens are always evolving and if you are anything like me, your garden will change over time as you learn what you like and what you don't. So glad it is turning into your dream back yard! You are doing a great job!

    Water will not penetrate the plastic but it does go thru landscape fabric to water the plants. Be sure to use plenty of water until the plants send roots into the soil. You will see a big difference. Everything looks beautiful. Love the pine straw around the trees also. Just adds a finishing touch.

    • @YoungLadyBusiness

      @@YoungLadyBusiness You may need to add a little more topsoil to the plants.

  • @dmndangel
    @dmndangel Год назад +13

    Looking good! Next time you’re making garden beds, look into the no dig, no till method. You basically lay down a bunch of cardboard instead of the landscape fabric and mulch on top of it. It kills the grass and the weeds, but then it breaks down and feeds the soil. I’ve loved it. It also makes it easier to plant more when you’re ready and you don’t have to go through landscape fabric.

    • @YoungLadyBusiness
      @YoungLadyBusiness  Год назад +1

      Oooo! I’ve never heard of that! I will definitely look into it 😍

    • @ChrisWootenNorthCarolina
      @ChrisWootenNorthCarolina Год назад +4

      You can also lay down cardboard sit your shrubs directly on top of the cardboard (be sure to wet cardboard to point of soaking), and then add high quality raised bed mix soil around your shrubs and entire bed. Right at shrub root ball put your soil mix just up to and level with root ball.
      then mulch the whole bed at about 3” Deep with mulch over top of root ball (But Stay 2” Away from the Shrubs Trunk” with a double ground no float mulch. Lowe’s sells this type of mulch.
      I’ve been planting like this for 40 years with great success. But you do have to put the raised bed soil mix on the whole bed. By second year your shrubs will start rooting through the boxes into the ground. I had to do this because of back/spine surgery years ago. It works and saves you time and saves your back.
      Be sure to water deeply once per week to the point of soaking the whole bed, not just at the shrub. Many people try to water more frequently but not deeply for 10 minutes several times a day. The problem with the short interval watering schedule is it teaches your shrubs to Not reach deep into surrounding soil. So Water Very Deeply and saturate your beds once per week. The mulch will keep them hydrated and the plants will learn to reach deep for moisture.
      If you live in a hot southern climate you may have to water twice a week for the first month then back off to once per week.
      Happy gardening

    You are doing fine. Trial and Error. My grandmother told me not every garden will turn out like you want. It is an every changing thing. You will find things that work and those that don't. Never freak out when things die out. Just try something different. Always do your research and go from there. I am 60, been in my home since 2009. It is changing every year. Some years things work great and others it changes. I am finally getting to a point where it makes since. A lot more containers, smaller beds, more plants that can handle the heat. This world changes so much and so has the gardens we plant. Nothing last forever and so change needs to happen. You will get there and it will be great. Get ready to change that garden as the years progress with the world.

    Everything looks so good!!! I tried to see if it was mentioned. Just in case it wasn’t on the tag hydrangeas are poisonous to pets, take extra care if Marshy is out on that side. I can’t wait to see them in full bloom ❤

    I think some landscape block or bricks around the border of the plants will better define and lift up the look of the plants better.
    And since your house is white brick, if you buy some brick, spray paint it the same color as the house it will be a nice polished, consistent built in look.

    Hi Kayla. You can use those sticks at the bottom of your raised beds to prevent buying so much soil, and it will break down and fertilize the raised beds.

    I love the continuous flower bed. It looks much better. The blue hydrangeas are going to struggle if they are planted in an area that gets a lot of sunlight. Other than limelight hydrangeas, hydrangeas do not like to be in full sun. Do be sure to check how much sunlight they get.

    How are those roots going to get water if you put plastic so close around the plant. Use weed cloth so the water can penetrate through to the roots. Those plants need a lot of water!
