Jess, as much as I love your storytelling skills, your punishment was definitely racist! There is a lot of research about how Black girls are criminalized in the school system by being suspended and expelled at disproportionate rates. There was no good reason for you to be handcuffed, legg cuffed, expelled, and sent to an alternative school because of a cafeteria fight. I am so sorry. 💔 And I'm glad you have a happy ending because so many girls who've gone through similar situations do not. 🙏🏽
