    Re the indian shooting technique on the left side is Dagger type draw. It is fast loading and release with palm facing outward. 😊

      Indeed. It is my main archery style. However, I call it, inverted slavic. I personally am accurate, and quick with it. Compared to other draw styles, I'm not so good. I especially am horrible with thumb draw.

    9:52 - 10:09 Oh yeah I've used both Mediterranean grip and the two-finger version while shooting off the right side of my bow and gotten some really good groupings with it, so yeah that's still doable. Especially when you turn your draw hand slightly leftwards so that it gives the string a bit of torque and thus the arrow---while not exactly "fixed"---is still in place pretty much the same way and you can hold extras between your fingers that way too.
    I was testing it on my lighter-weight bow and the way I ended up putting them straight onto the string was by feeling the nock groove---like how Barton in his video clips advises when shooting except he shows using the middle finger tip---to hold it and give it that little turn so it'll slide right into place. I'm not too fast with it either but I've just learned it's doable, so that's a plus.

      @@CharliesRunningArcheryI have yet to try it more with regular arrows, I've only been able to use LARP arrows and so the big bulbous foam heads make it trickier to hold extras---so it's an exercise which also makes that a pro---but yeah next time I go out shooting, like when it's NOT storming and all I'll have to give that another try. Especially the 2-finger "Flemish" one since that one apparently offers more leeway to give that string the leftward torque.

    Yeah so as far as the scene in WEDNESDAY (which I'm a fan of, I've watched the series through several times), it helps that it doesn't say or make explicit in whatever form or fashion just how strong the bow is. So I see what you mean, but at least when it comes to that then the viewer can use their imagination since there's no label or one of the characters mentioning how strong or light it is too. Definitely entertaining scene so I'm in the gray area there especially with the technique aspects you mentioned positively.👍

    • @CharliesRunningArchery
      @CharliesRunningArchery  Год назад +1

      You know why I know that the bow is not powerful? Look at her. She is a very subtle skinny girl (I do not know if she has some super-power strength). When she draws, her hands are not shaking, so she did not need to use all her strength. Also the draw is very smooth, no signs of pushing her physical limits. Does it make sense to you?

    • @DerekBartlettBeorn
      @DerekBartlettBeorn Год назад +1

      @@CharliesRunningArcheryYeah so when I watch it---especially since I'm not exactly buff either, I have very boney fingers---I typically imagine it being about at strong as a typical Snake recurve where it might be 24 or 26 where it's strong but still light enough where you may not typically need a glove or tab if you choose not to use one. So yeah that's just another gray-area thing like "eh, I'll just use my imagination since it doesn't go into detail", especially given how whimsical---if that's the right word---that the show is.

  • @hasensaurus
    @hasensaurus Год назад

    Dear Charlie, I like your videos very much. ... Yes, now comes the famous ..."but". Loading Mediterranean can be as fast as Asian style, if you tilt the bow a bit. This is what the comanche did and the archers using thumb draw just don't apply. Native indians also held the arrows in the bow hand while shooting, which made them even faster, because then ( again tilting ) the arrow hand loading trajectory is minimized. Also, the arrow does not become clunky at the grip, while loading, if you use the index finger to create a ring around the arrow, to fix it to the grip.
    To the rest: multiple arrows from one bow is a myth. I've tried it several times. you have finger distance at the string between them, but you can't have the same distance at the bow grip, so it's bullocks. They will both go haywire. If you look at the movie scene, it's a glued together prop. The same distance is between the arrows in front, which makes no sense at all.
    Back quivers are historically correct. Not used in Asia or Middle East, but Asians were not the only mounted archers! Europeans had mounted archers since Antiquity and there was no rule of quiver placement. If you look at Trajans column which depicts the war with dacians, you will see back quivers.
    Mulan is pure Disney crap, why didn't you do War of the Arrows?

    Mulan som nevidel a som rad, strasna sprostost. Taka ista ako The Great Wall s M.Damonom. A ano vsetci by tam mali pouzivat palcovy natah. Tym ludom co v tom filmel akoze maju pod palcom lukostrelbu by som nedal ani cent. Prey- vsimni si ,ze pouzivaju opacne drzanie tetivy (Kinzhalka) takze sa tak da jednym tahon nasadit a vystrelit. Druha vec je,ze takymto sposobom isto indiani nestrielali. Pouzivali pinch draw. Co sa tyka Wednesday tak v poho. Mozno laket trochu vyssie :)

    Hello friend! Nice to see you back! I recommend for you the movie ''War of arrows''. That movie heavily focusing on Korean and Manchu archery techniques. The cinematography is brilliant and the acting as well. This is beyond everything western made Disney or Hollywood fake show! Yeah a couple of shots was a little bit too much for being true but it's a joy to watch movie all together for any archer. It's bottom line archery porn.
