    Cleaning your Blade helps on the Ballencein them.

      Great tip! My blades don't get too gunked up with debris, but it definitely helps to clean them if they are. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I had a lot of comments asking if I balance my blades... So this video tackles that and also a more updated version for those of you who are thinking of purchasing the All-American Sharpener 5005 Gen. 2. If you already have this jig or you use another to sharpen your blades, what do you like best about it?

    When you mark the heavy end, why not mark it where you sharpen it? You will grind away the marker when sharpening and leaving it on the blade portion that doesn't get ground can be a problem if you over-sharpen it and then have to mark the other end that needs to be re-ground because now you have two marks to decide on when something distracts you. You forget which mark you did last. Unless you are going to add numbers or Roman numerals to each side marked?

      That's actually a good idea and something I may end up doing now that you bring it up! I have in the past just made another mark if needed, so I will see 2 or more marks on the side I need to take more metal off. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Does your Oregon Blade Balancer give you consistent results? I purchased and returned my Oregon Blade Balancer because it gave inconsistent results. For example, I placed a new, unused blade on it and sometimes the blade would be perfectly level and sometimes the blade would rotate to the bottom. In fact the magnets on my Oregon would slowly drift when no blade was attached. I replaced the Oregon with the Magna-Matic 1000 Blade Balancer. The Magna-Matic is extremely precise and gives me consistent, repeatable results.

      It does. I added some silicon lubricating spray to it, and occasionally spray some on it to protect it and make it turn smooth. I'll check out the Magna-Matic, I have never heard of it. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    What is your thoughts on cleaning the blade before sharpening and balancing the blade?

    • @LawnCareNinja
      @LawnCareNinja  2 года назад +1

      If the blade is caked with old dirt and grass debris, I would clean it. My blades RARELY have that issue, so I don't worry about it. I mean, you can see in my video the amount of debris that is on my blade is hardly anything. I hope that helps you out. Thanks for watching and commenting and subscribing!

    I just received a new set of 50” blades for my Toro zero turn, my ride mower and these blades are sharpened on 35 degrees . Is this correct? Do I need to resharpen them to 30 degrees?

    • @LawnCareNinja
      @LawnCareNinja  2 года назад +2

      The degree of angle depends on the area you live in. For my area (Denver, CO), 30-35 degrees is the best. I would leave them be or find out what your previous blades were and grind accordingly. If you are taking it down to 30 degrees, you will be grinding for a bit and the blade will get super-hot, so be patient and careful. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I think one pass with the grinder would have done it

      Nope. Feel free to give it a go on your blades and let me know. Thanks for watching and commenting!
