Julie Chauvin I rescued cats the majority of my adult life and then switched over to dogs once my husband passed away and both my children had moved out and sadly all of my kitties had passed on so I have probably had 25 cats and never had this situation occur so it must be a fairly rare situation. Although now that I'm texting you I recall it being said that generally it occurred in young cats and I often rescued cats that were over a year old so that may be a reason that I didn't see it. With that said I still have a feeling that it's a rather unusual a condition. I'm sure I would have seen it at least once.
Its Me I’ve had many cats with white faces and chins and I’ve never seen this. Not in the purebreds or the rescues. My question is, how is she removing blackheads with a flea comb? I don’t think it’s blackheads at all. I think her cat has flea dirt on it’s chin and that’s why she can remove it with a comb. Blackheads on animals, just like on people, have to be extracted to get rid of them.
Sheila Karch I thought the same thing Sheila. I've seen people extract blackheads from dogs and they're deep just liking people. Combing them like that would only succeed in breaking them off. She may think they're out because the oxidized portion is gone but the white part would still be inside the skin.
I recommend using a soft toothbrush and do the cleaning in several parts, it doesn't irritate the skin as much and works well. And get rid of old plastic cups and remember the clean the new ones every day.
I never knew that! One of my cats 5years old had this. My husband picked it off and is a lot better. I've had cats for around 25years and never heard of this. Thank you very informative!
Cats can get acne. And, yes, it's usually on the chin where they can't lick it clean. My son took a blackhead out of my cat's chin that was like a little stone.
One other thing the time she's using is a lysosome you can get them in any drugstore. And they're wonderful for when you're bathing your pet. If you use Dawn to wash your pet it will help kill fleas and this comb helps to pull the fleas out of the fur and off the skin.
Hot compresses on the chin followed by the H2O2 or Chlorhexadine. Then rinse with another moistened cloth. A cat of mine had this condition one time and it cleared up with careful grooming. You shouldn't apply the liquid from the bottle directly to the chin though. You've just contaminated your bottle of reagent for any other purposes!
Our vet informed us that feline acne may be caused from and certainly spread by using plastic food and water bowls, particularly in a multi-cat household. We were much better able to control by using ceramic bowls.
Que faut il faire pour l'acné, j'ai un petit Yorkshire qui en a un peu au niveau de son menton. J'ai vu que vous mettez de la crème, mais laquelle. Merci ?
I had a cat who had this, we never used plastic bowls. It can be caused by food allergy too, finally switched to a more pricy brand with no fillers and her catne went away.
Elastic is porous and holds onto bacteria. We switched to stainless steel and ceramic bowls and put down clean bowls daily. No more cachne as the vet called. 😄
This happens if you dont clean the bowls that they eat and drink from or use plastic bowls. Always use glass ceramic or metal bowls for feeding cats. Wash them ofter with disinfectants.
use metal or glass bowls that also helps. Plastic bowls can lead to pet acne.. my Russian blue got it once thats what the vet told use and we have never had it since in any of my other cats
This type of acne is typically related to food allergy, and most commonly to the bacteria harbored by plastic food and water bowls. If you haven't trialed either of those things I'd look into that first.
My baby had cat acne but the best way to get rid of it for good is to change what you are feeding them out of. The plastic food bowls absorb bacteria and continue the acne. If you get a glass bowl to feed them out of instead it doesn’t absorb any bacteria and the acne goes away. It 100% worked for us
My vet gave him a shot of antibiotics, said to use the warm cloth 2 or 3 times a day. He doesn't like it, but I do it anyway, hoping it clears up. At least it's not bleeding anymore.
I always wondered what that was! I would just brush it and clean it, worried it was flea eggs or something. But then it went away as he got older. My little Eddie had acne! MEOW
We had cats that came down with this as well some years ago. We were given a medicated shampoo to deal with it. Their chins were so swollen up they looked like tumors. The washing worked, but there was a great deal of pus that came out.
I like to scratch my cats acne with my fingers. It’s more comfortable for him and he lets me do it. Then I just wash and sanitize my hands when I’m done.
My last kitty, pictured here, used to get chin acne. Once I changed his plastic dish out for ceramic, it cleared up almost completely. (& Of course, you should be washing their dish after every meal to prevent bacteria!) Side note re: the video, don't brush your cats against the fur. It doesn't feel good to them. Only brush in the direction of growth, & not so agresively! Poor guy. Also, only use pereoxide. Never use solutions w/ sallcyluc acid in it!!
If you do it like in the video, the comb will break the skin, leaving it open for infections. Don't do it like that. Just take a piece of gauze and spray it with a 5% solution of Dettol, then poor a bit of boiled water (cooled down of course) over the gauze. Squeeze out the excess water and rub the gauze gently over the blackheads, disinfecting the area. If you do that two times a day for a couple of days, the blackheads will come off without having to force the cat so much. The blackheads on a cat's skin are supposedly caused by eating from a plastic bowl and/or washing the bowl with anything but just hot water.
Can't say, haven't saw. Could it be some wound? Like a wound from an inflamed pimple? Better visit a vet to have a proper consult, if you haven't yet of course :) Remember, you shouldn't traumatize the skin by scratching or squeezing, only clean the hair on the chin.
I really wish you would get up closer. If you do this again can you please get up closer? I would really like to get an up close look so i can see exactly what to look for.
My poor Arlo is the oiliest kitty I've ever cared for and I've rescued hundreds. He's a ginger/buff coated kitty. He gets a very thick crust of acne if I don't flea comb his chin every single day. I also keep it shaved bald now to help combat his acne and it definitely helps. But even his ears gets a very waxy build up, and the stuff I remove is like glue. It's very strange. He was a very, very sick kitten whom had to have an eye removed due to the feline herpes virus. I often wonder if that plays a role. He is now 3 yrs old.
Believe me, I have. He spent the entire first yr of his life seeing the vet every couple weeks. They just say he's a very oily skin type and I've done everything they've suggested to combat it such as the plastic bowl removal, daily cleansing of the chin, food changes, etc, etc. After 3 yrs of it and getting to know the situation, all I can tell you is that It's worse in the summer time and the only thing that seems to really help it at all is to keep the fur shaved so it's easier to control the surface oil. If I miss a couple days because I've got something going on like just having bought a house and moved myself and entire colony, it's rare that I don't care for his chin everyday but on those rare occasions where he gets the crusty build up... that's when it irritates him the most when I do clean it. Keeping it from building up is my best approach. Obviously he's a special needs kitty and won't be going anywhere. I have a few that are with me for life because I've gotten them thru so much I don't trust anyone else to care for them the way I do. Like my seniors.
Use a towel to wrap your kittie :) And be like reaaaally gentle, you can do it with fingers even. just clean them :) like here ruclips.net/video/-A_jFeGS7ww/видео.html
Though this was flagged as potentially inappropriate, I approved it so the whole world can see a person who lives in the fairyland where basic things are internet and gadgets but not antiseptics or combs. C'mon, put your pink glasses off my tiny little internet troll.
I can't tell if you're actually serious right now or if you're so blind to reality that you think your standards for living apply everywhere. Overly privileged much? Good that you put it out there for eeveryone to see just how little you care about people with less than you. And how instead of helping them you'd rather ridicule them.
I've heard of dogs having acne bc my old dog did but I've never seen a cat with acne. My cat gets ticks alot so I check all over him all the time and luckily he doesnt have any catne lol
This comment made me choke on my water laughing LOLOLOL omg. Hopefully you'll have a question on how to extract cat chin acne on the test. I needed this laugh. Thanks!
My cat Masha trusted me so much she let me 'pop' her blackheads. I tempted her with treats, when I first saw the 'kitty zits", and soon we got into a grooming/skin cleansing/treat routine. That, and keeping a better eye on stuff like this, and she got over her 'teenage bad skin', and lived to be...22!! Died in my lap, dozing off, peacefully. Thunderous purr, sweet Masha...what a girl...
My cat just turned 19. Her brother died a year ago. She's very healthy for now except her eyesight and hearing are not as good. I rescued her and her brother at the pound in 1999 when they were babies. I will be heartbroken when her time comes. I hope she will be with me for at least a few more years but I know that's probably not realistic. Sorry for your loss. I know it's hard
Avoid plastic cat food dishes which seems to be part of the cause of cat acne. Try a beauty eyelash brush/comb combo. My kitty tolerates chin combing with very tiny eye lash comb much better.
My Ginger kitty had chin acne too. The vet said to stop feeding him out of a plastic bowl so I switched him to a porcelain one and that really helped clear it up by at least 50%. Then I used liquid acne solution on a cotton ball and dabbed his chin (he wasn't happy) and that cleared him up completely!
szqsk8 I think you're suggesting purchasing a proper liquid is a much better overall idea all I could see when they were being combed out was chances are they would be breaking off and leaving a portion of them still in the skin just to continue to get larger and cause more problems. Where a liquid would absorb all the way into the poor and not cause as much your irritation as a combing. As well when my children were younger I rescued mature cats so we always had a house full I've now switch to dogs since the kids moved out LOL but I don't recall any of my cats that would have sat through a combing like that without tearing me apart. Dabbing a liquid on would be a much quicker procedure making for a less crabby cat.
Dixie Rae My cats all love 'chin chins' which is scratching them under the chin. My cats would probably love that comb on the chin. One uses the wire brush on her chin.
I am 70 y.o. and have had cats all my life and YES, this is definitely cat ACNE. They can get it on the nose, too. You see how this cat likes to be cleaned, he may be pushing with his paws, but he is not getting his nails out.
Who are you calling "grandma" I wonder? Tell me your age please. Furthermore, you know nothing about cats. Yes, his claws ARE out but he is NOT trying to scratch her or he would have done it already.
it did. and 'lowkey' is just something i say a lot. sorry if it bothered you its just a habit. but my cat smokey hates to be touched and she has this all over her chin and i tried cleaning her and she wasnt hearing it so she jumped up and attacked my face.
Fang Shadow Heart My cats dont have acne but when i touch my little man his belly sometimes he goes AWOL on me totally freak out of grab my arm and tries to bite xD I know he loves me cause he wakes me up every damn time ¬_¬') mauw mauw mauw and then trying to look innocent.
@@wraithking3749 go to harbor freight and buy some welding gloves for 5 bucks. Then you can touch his belly all you want and there's nothing he can do about it :)
The most known cause that I know is that if cats eat out of plastic bowls. I never use plastic anymore, I always use metal or ceramic! Hope this helps some of you cat lovers out there!🐱❤️
We had a cat that had feline acne, he said it was from using a plastic bowl. We did have to clean the acne as it was huge and painful. We then switched to metal bowls and never had a problem again.
A FEW NOTES: The exudate is literally on hair, not inside pores, skin scratching is intolerable, it'll hurt the cat. Blackheads inside pores are treated with chlorhexidine only. Don't apply the way I applied it! The bottle contents weren't applied again as an antiseptic, apply an antiseptic using some dish, cup, cotton disc, whatever to avoid contamination of the bottle contents. Use new portions of antiseptic on clean cotton discs/whatever each time. Additionally, note that hydrogen peroxide % might differ from country to country (3% where I live) and it wasn't used on an open wound, so better use chlorhexidine it's the safest option:)
Meowgical cattery - Scottish fold and straight When my cat got old and sick, I took it to the vet. After a 2 hour evaluation, the vet came out and said, "I have good news and bad news." I said, "give me the bad news." He said, "your cat only has a month to live." I said, "Ok, what's the good news." He said, "It's just a fucking cat."
Michael Lucas : What the fuck? Why would post something like this? If it’s true, I hope you filed a complaint against the vet, because that’s a messed up and highly unprofessional thing to say to any pet owner!
Michael Lucas : I don’t feel like it’s an appropriate joke to post on a video like this....Plus, it’s hard to tell when it’s text. I do use my brain; I just try not to make assumptions. I’m relieved it was only meant as a joke though, because I’ve heard of messed up true stories of vets actually saying things like that which is another reason I couldn’t be sure.
My orange male also had feline acne under his chin, but my other cat did not. I can see why someone would think this was flea dirt because at first glance I thought it was flea dirt on my cat. Vet gave him a simple antibiotic (some of them were painful whiteheads), and as many others, suggested to get rid of the plastic bowls. I also used a baby toothbrush and Clinique's mild soap under his chin 2-3 times per week. He actually liked the toothbrush scrubs. All of these things decreased his blackheads but he still had a few here and there.
Severen Koski I could see your cat enjoying a gentle toothbrush scrub. My cats always loved to be rubbed just under the chin. It seemed to be a sensitive spot that they particularly enjoyed. I didn't think the rough combing was a very good way to deal with it though. Because that's part under the chin is very sensitive. Well done sounds like very loving Kitty care.
Interesting...my orange male cat is the first kitty who I have ever seen get blackheads on his chin too, although later I found some on my Siamese cat. Even though they don't get much fleas, I thought it was flea dirt at first too, but it actually looks pretty different. I had no idea kittehs could get blackheads!
@@lipstickcloud I do find it very interesting me that the orange cats or more likely to get these blackheads. I had a orange boy he didn't have blackheads but he absolutely loved to have his chin scratched. I rescued cats so I had a lot and none of them loved it as much as he did. This is a bit off the wall but I wonder if c h i n sensitivity has anything to do with it.😻
My cat had it bad one time. I didn't know what all these black things were so I took her to the vet. It started after I changed to a plastic dish, apparently that's what sparked it off. A couple weeks, returning to her old dish, and applying antibiotics to her chin, a little squishing and rubbing to help them out. Never before, never since. We are looking forward to our 17th year together in a couple months. 👍
CATNE?!
London's Rock My thoughts exactly. Lol
asznee
CACNE ?!
Haha nice
HQHHAHAHAHAHAHAA SIS
I dont even have a cat. Why am i here???
:D Well, there is always something new to learn. Or maybe!, cats are simply alien rulers of the world
😂😂😂😂😂
If you can do it with the cat, you can do it with your senile grandma!
because you will!
Same 🙈
If I tried this with my cat, I would be the one needing the peroxide and antibacterial...
Baaahahahahah right?
Tell me about it. From one ( now dearly departed cat ) I still have the scars...
😆😆😆😆
I have never seen this before & I have had cats most of my life, guess the saying is true ,"You learn something new everyday!!!"

It happens only at white/light chins.

Cats can get acne. And, yes, it's usually on the chin where they can't lick it clean. My son took a blackhead out of my cat's chin that was like a little stone.
that is a very cooperative cat

THIS CAT IS SO ROLLY POLLY
Our vet informed us that feline acne may be caused from and certainly spread by using plastic food and water bowls, particularly in a multi-cat household. We were much better able to control by using ceramic bowls.
It seems to be true. However, in her case it was indeed due to hormonal changes as I don't use plastic bowls. I don't like them :)

Currently looking on RUclips for cat acne videos new addiction 🤪
Do you burst the black heads? Additionally I have don't it a few time if it's gotten bad.
What a sweet kitty 😍😍😍😍
She is allergic to plastic food and water dishes
Kindle Thomas I agree. Never feed your pets from plastic dishes. Use only stainless steel bowls. And no, it's not flea dirt!
Kindle Thomas I use stainless steel bowls
My cat had the same issue. Changed to ceramic food dishes. There hasn’t been any reoccurrences
I had a cat who had this, we never used plastic bowls. It can be caused by food allergy too, finally switched to a more pricy brand with no fillers and her catne went away.

Isn't it more hygienic to pour the solution on a piece of cotton or in a small cup. I feel it got contaminated by applying it like that.
What a docile kitty. My cat would probably bite me if I tried to do this. Luckily, he had a really mild case for a short time.
I had no idea!! Gonna check my kitty now.
I always wondered what that was! I would just brush it and clean it, worried it was flea eggs or something. But then it went away as he got older. My little Eddie had acne! MEOW

Wow, Now I know what's on Moe's chin.. here kitty kitty...Momma going to clean you chin..🐱🐱
I use a soft toothbrush and brush it out with a little bit of water.
i love the meow at the end of your videos aaaaaaaaaaaaaah
What a good kitty. I can't even give my dogs a bath without them running under the bed 🤦
What antiseptic is this??
I was told it was just a orange cat thing mostly and their was nothing I could do, the vet said It's best to leave it alone.
Drooling cat
I like to scratch my cats acne with my fingers. It’s more comfortable for him and he lets me do it. Then I just wash and sanitize my hands when I’m done.
Don't forget to clean them before you start :D
this can cause infection regardless. you are only jamming bits of keratin. back into the pores. pop them get em out
My last kitty, pictured here, used to get chin acne. Once I changed his plastic dish out for ceramic, it cleared up almost completely.
(& Of course, you should be washing their dish after every meal to prevent bacteria!)

I give her lots of love for being nice and gentle :)
@@Meowgicali know thats right lmao did you say they groom their balls tho lol
Can you please give that kitty extra love from me?
Do not use plastic food/water bowls for your cats. Use metal bowls. This will stop the skin problems.
My Tonkinese had bad chin acne. The vet scratched it off with her fingernail and it never came back again. So weird.
Mine has a big black one, but it's more like a scab??
Can't say, haven't saw. Could it be some wound? Like a wound from an inflamed pimple? Better visit a vet to have a proper consult, if you haven't yet of course :) Remember, you shouldn't traumatize the skin by scratching or squeezing, only clean the hair on the chin.

Thanks! I was worried about those black dots in my kitty's chin. She's happier without her catne right now. ~
And now I have to go to *THAT* side of youtube again, you already know...
If you don't want your cat to get acne then don't make him it a computer geek
Ok step 1 I don't have a cat or a cat with acne what do I do
when your cat hits puberty

You shouldn’t squeeze feline acne. Cleaning and antibiotics, not using plastic food bowls is what you should do
Plastic feeding dishes cause this. Use only glass or metal. This is wha my vet stated.

True
Super pretty kitty!
Looks like Dr Pimple Popper is missing a whole new demographic. Who knew?

Looks like my cat who died a couple of years ago aged 19. I still miss him.
Thanks x
My cat just turned 19. Her brother died a year ago. She's very healthy for now except her eyesight and hearing are not as good. I rescued her and her brother at the pound in 1999 when they were babies. I will be heartbroken when her time comes. I hope she will be with me for at least a few more years but I know that's probably not realistic. Sorry for your loss. I know it's hard
Awwww bless you and your cat. I hope you do get more time with her.
Glen Pierce I had a cat that I had to get rid of because we didn't have the money to take care of him. I miss him but I know he's happy.
Glen Pierce aww I'm sorry to hear about your 🐈 :( . Hey your omargosh friend you should go visit again film more videos 🤗
That is one of the prettiest kitties I've ever seen.
This should be called 'How to lose your fingers'
lol
Avoid plastic cat food dishes which seems to be part of the cause of cat acne. Try a beauty eyelash brush/comb combo.
My kitty tolerates chin combing with very tiny eye lash comb much better.
My Ginger kitty had chin acne too. The vet said to stop feeding him out of a plastic bowl so I switched him to a porcelain one and that really helped clear it up by at least 50%. Then I used liquid acne solution on a cotton ball and dabbed his chin (he wasn't happy) and that cleared him up completely!

Please explain to me why plastic does this. I have never heard this before and I'm interested in why. Very interesting.
Charlene Howard plastic is porous so it can hold onto bacteria and dirt.
szqsk8 I think you're suggesting purchasing a proper liquid is a much better overall idea all I could see when they were being combed out was chances are they would be breaking off and leaving a portion of them still in the skin just to continue to get larger and cause more problems.
Sam W I love how you call it Chin Chin's. We called it scratchins. 😊
I am 70 y.o. and have had cats all my life and YES, this is definitely cat ACNE. They can get it on the nose, too. You see how this cat likes to be cleaned, he may be pushing with his paws, but he is not getting his nails out.
My cat has it on his chest, neck, and shoulders 😦
You're 70 and on RUclips? That's pretty awesome. I hope you and your cats have a great day ❤
Ha, and I am only a "youngie". I know people of 82, 85 who are on facebook and RUclips. Guess we'll take our laptop with us into the grave....
Who are you calling "grandma" I wonder? Tell me your age please.
Furthermore, you know nothing about cats. Yes, his claws ARE out but he is NOT trying to scratch her or he would have done it already.
e-fred
Are you always so insulting towards others? I am NOT your grandma. I challenge you to state your age.
that cat just took it
my cat lowkey attacked my face.
How can your cat "lowkey" attack your face? It either did or it didn't.
it did. and 'lowkey' is just something i say a lot. sorry if it bothered you its just a habit. but my cat smokey hates to be touched and she has this all over her chin and i tried cleaning her and she wasnt hearing it so she jumped up and attacked my face.
Hope this helps some of you cat lovers out there!🐱❤️
That’s what we do. Our vet recommended it
Really?
That's a myth, but a plate or bowl that isn't washed often can be a problem.
I’ve honestly never thought about any other animals having acne
I am not a cat person but I do have to admit that is probably the most calm, behaved cat I have ever seen
Ďont ever use plastic bowĺs for cat gives a reaction and blackheads on there chin.
After a 2 hour evaluation, the vet came out and said, "I have good news and bad news."
I said, "give me the bad news."
He said, "your cat only has a month to live."
I said, "Ok, what's the good news."
He said, "It's just a fucking cat."
Michael Lucas : What the fuck? Why would post something like this? If it’s true, I hope you filed a complaint against the vet, because that’s a messed up and highly unprofessional thing to say to any pet owner!
Heidi R It's a joke. Use your brain honey.
Vet told me to stop using plastic bowls. Cats acne can go away on its own.
Severen Koski
It happens only at white/light chins.
That's great you took her to a vet :)
