    Always said, if I win the lottery at least 10% will go to charities I like. TR would be top of the list to get what ever they wanted. Would love to hear of a UK Euromillions winner donating £10m to LToW to help all of the Little Trains.

    I had an idea to reduce the height risk and enlarge the small standing spaces : make the engines wider and less tall? Like, broad gauge, maybe?

      While the original BBC Live Broadcast isn't currently publicly available, you can find some footage of the Rev Awdry Guarding the TV Train on the BFI website here: player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-cader-idris-talyllyn-1957-online
      Hope that helps!

    Oh! the joys of a superb heritage fleet with no notion of owt as boring as 'standardisation' ...... and long may it continue to be so!
    The 'working at height' issue will be an interesting one to watch. Perhaps run a competition? Some decent publicity to be had (reaching where most publicity cannot), plus the offchance of a viable solution among the entries and with any luck, good entertainment to boot. I've always got a bee in my bonnet about involving schools and local communities.

    • @chrislaf2011
      @chrislaf2011 7 месяцев назад

      What do other heritage lines do regarding "working at height" regulations? Surely somewhere else has got a good solution already?

    Hi is there any chance you can put the captions on on your videos? I find them really useful and I'm sure some others would too

    Not wanting to stir up an argument, but in these very informative videos I don't hear any Welsh accents. Are the local Welsh population involved in the Railway? Or is it just by chance that the team members speaking all have English accents?

    • @TalyllynRailway1865
      @TalyllynRailway1865  7 месяцев назад

      We do have volunteers who are Welsh and local to Tywyn, but don't have a Welsh accent - though those who do are sadly in the minority at the Railway.
      Most of our volunteers come from across the UK and the rest of the World rather than locally, and naturally those who have been volunteering for years may choose to retire in the area, such as Ian, so our local volunteers by a result tend to have non-Welsh accents. You'll find much the same at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland!

      @@TalyllynRailway1865 Thanks for the reply, which all makes sense. Community involvement is obviously a good thing so that everything runs harmoniously! Keep up the good work with the Railway.

      I myself, parents, and most grandparents and great grandparents born in Wales, but when I went home to south wales fro a visit after being away a couple years, my schoolfriends said I had gotten a new accemt! But now live local to TR and learning NW Welsh as well now.

  • @Trevor_Austin

    Now all you have to do is make it so people can drive to Wales without losing their driving licenses or their will to live whilst dawdling through 20 mph zones. I love Wales but I’m not visiting until speed limits are revised upwards.

    • @richardharrold9736
      @richardharrold9736 8 месяцев назад +2

      20mph zones aren't on main roads, they're in residential areas and around schools and the like, and have made those areas safer.

    • @kevfrombutterley
      @kevfrombutterley 8 месяцев назад

      @@richardharrold9736 They're pretty much everywhere that was formerly 30mph which is a lot of road. Hopefully this change will be reviewed at some point.

    • @richardharrold9736
      @richardharrold9736 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@kevfrombutterley 30 limits were already only in residential areas, village centres etc. Open country roads are all at least 40mph. I've got a moderately quick 440bhp car and still have no issues keeping within the limits where necessary...

    • @TheHoveHeretic
      @TheHoveHeretic 8 месяцев назад +2

      The reason for the limit was an all too real safety issue caused by entitled idiots driving like lunatics, so if you want to blame.anyone, try those drivers who appear in your rear view mirror, flashing headlights as their front bumper vanishes from view because they're dangerously close.
      Or, as someone else pointed out, perhaps consider the Cambrian Coast Line? If you've never used it, boy are you missing out.
