Man, I'd forgotten about a lot of those titles.
As the list went further back, I noticed a shift in my thinking about the games. Not in a good-vs-bad thing, but more that they hit differently the further back you went. The newer ones obviously have more room for characters, complexity, and much better effects and all, but there's definitely something about those OG games that really makes them evocative in ways more modern and 'realistic' (for Zelda, anyway) games mostly aren't. I think I'm starting to understand part of the appeal of minimalist storytelling and modern highly pixelated indie games: with only the overall frame of a story and relatively primitive graphics to work with, the player's imagination fills in a lot more blanks.

Breath Of The Wild for me felt more like a regression like Skyward Sword was for me vs Twilight Princess in many areas.
Breath of The Wild only offers a bigger world, going everywhere and overworld bosses, but Twilight Princess is basically better on everything, way more polished on the Gamecube and no glitches.
There isn't a thing i liked about BOTW, the dungeons, the story, sidequests, the weapons, everything sucked, and i will never buy it because Nintendo ripped off Wii U owners (no gamepad support) and the final game looks worse than it's E3 from 2014.

I used my imagination in TP when i went to the sacred groove land and watched the OOT ruins, and i like how traveling takes like 3 mins on horse, or seconds through teleporting and you can reach many places.
Meamwhile gliding or movement in Breath of The Wild gives me Wind Waker PTSD, so big and so slow.

My first Zelda game was botw. I remember first playing that game and loving it. as well as getting extremely frustrated as it was one of the first video games I ever played. that wasn’t Nintendo land or Mario kart. then started to pick up other Zelda games. mind you I found this game and beat it before I quite finished my play through of botw, but my second Zelda game was twilight princess and it was here I really started to fall in love with Zelda. I wanted to find every single piece of lore within the games and now, I’m a what we would call a Zelda nerd. If it weren’t for botw I wouldn’t have found the video game series that I love to death. One that is what I consider my comfort games because when I listen to the music or play the game I’m feel at peace. I could be in the worst mood and it will lift me up. I’m so happy I found this series. It’s helped me through so many dark times.
