I think Kane’s bad performances has little to do with him and much more to do with Southgate. Are we forgetting how good Kane is. I do agree he should not be dropping that deep but Southgate is the manager he should be telling Kane to push up higher. I also agree that Kane doesn’t have the ability to make runs inbehind as well as he used to due to his age. But Kane is still a world class player, we need to involve his style more into our system. I have to be honest, I think Southgate has done enough to earn our trust. You may not like the way he plays, but it works. He’s done better than any other England manager since 66. 1968-2016 we were 6-12 in knockout stages of major tournaments, Southgate is 8-3 now. I have to be honest, I think Southgate has done enough to earn our trust. You may not like the way he plays, but it works. He’s done better than any other England manager since 66. 1968-2016 we were 6-12 in knockout stages of major tournaments, Southgate is 8-3 now.

That is the biggest problem with England fans and our media - the criticism. Means no balance for 40 years. Rather play safe fitting in players who are similar Gerard/Lampard - Bellingham/Foden instead of dropping one of them for a player better suited to playing alongside them. I’ll use Argentina as an example because I think the changes Scaloni made were drastic but for all the right reasons. The first game had Paredes, Gomez and Martinez on match day one.
