- I've been to Oahu a handful of times and have tried the touristy places, but this time I was fortunate to partner with Ryan Hailstones, owner of local adventure company Mahina Hawaii, , and learn all about local Hawaiian cuisine and culture, and the top local spots where locals go for food.

Thanks for this. Looks delicious. We re heading there soon & will try
Thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Lord-Jesus-Christ com
Two of my favorite places to eat in Oahu are Ted’s Bakery in North Shore and Side Street Inn on Hopaka St in Honolulu
Next time you're here on vacation, check out Tanioka Seafood/Waipahu, Shige's Saimin Stand/Wahiawa, Shiro's Saimin Haven/Waimalu, Paala'a Kai Bakery & Jerry's Pizza Mill/Waialua....
Thanks so much for this fun video! You're the best!
Born in Kailua, I grew up on Kin Wah Chinese food. It's the standard to which I compared all Chinese restaurants on the mainland and few places hold up.
Great! I'll have to check it out!
Another excellent video from imo, the best host on RUclips 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you 😊
Oh I so enjoy seeing other cultures on what foods is best know .
Thanks for sharing.
Our favs.. All the foodie places at the Polynesian Cultural Center (no ticket needed to enter that part of the park) , Papa Ole, minutes from PCC. Also Helena's Hawaiian Food best kalua pig on the island (7 mins from airport). MAUI Sea House in Lahaina has amazing custard pancakes and omelets. .
You certainly have a good local guide for you to find Liliha Bakery. That place is famously secret. Loco Moko, is a great and strange blend of things. Cool video, Steph. The North Shore is THE place to be during the surf season (winter) but it’s better than town any time of year. Ahi poke’ is the best! No ka oi! Aloha 🤙🏼
Brian Walsh Yeah! I lucked out. Can’t wait to return 😊
Aloha Steph, I love your videos. I’m an old surfer boy from Hawaii but I grew up in Chicago, then California, and Canada. It’s really cool that you are traveling. I love your videos. The places you go on Oahu are all to familiar to me. Love it. On Kauai, you saw some places, but there’s more. Hawaii is limitless. Mahalo for showing Hawaii to them, and the rest of the world to us. Keep traveling girl. Mahalo from Oahu. 🤙🏼
Aside from Waiahole, everything else you listed was touristy. Açaí bowls don’t get anymore so. Liliha is great but they are known for cream/Cocoa Puffs and Poi Mochi Doughnuts. And the best Ramen is more likely Lucky Belly or Menya. Also you should have been specific which grocery store for Poke as arguably the nod goes to Foodland. Otherwise head to the back of a liquor store called Tamura’s.
Great video! I liked and subscribed.
I’m watching this late at night and...you’re making me want to eat some ono Hawaiian food at Waiahole!!
Thanks for a nice summary of Oahu menu. It helps me discover a similarity from the other side of Pacific Ocean. Rice, Taro and Coconut are also common ingredients in Thai foods.
That's true! Lots of similarities :)
Oh man! Liliha Bakery! Definitely one of my favorite places to get desserts on Oahu.
Coco puffs and poi donut.....man oh man those are good!
Really good! Right up my alley! 😊
Your videos are awesome Steph!!! Thank you so much for them!!! Xoxo
Second Giovanni's Food Truck for the classic Shrimp Scampi. Be sure to ask for the Garlic Rice. You will be licking your fingers 30 minutes after your meal is done.
Nice thank you for scooping out the good eats in Oahu coming back in Dec can't wait.
yo fav catleena Awesome!! Excited for you to try one of these places! Waiahole is hands down my fave.
@@StephTaylerLive Cinnamons in Kailua was our fav place for breakfast.
Stunning as always .
Steph Loco Moco is the best my favorite.
Bryan Awesome! It’s yummy.
Steph, you are so lucky! You eat and eat, and stay so thin. Another great video.
Nah. I paid for this trip when I got home LOL! Kicked myself WAYYY out of ketosis and had to start all over again. Was worth the video, though :)
Waiahole poi factory is definitely delicious, but if you go to Liliha Bakery you have to grab either the chantilly puff or the green tea puff. Malasadas is reserved for Leonard bakery
well, good they went to the original one...
Seeing all that food is awesome. I don’t have a favorite food because I never been to Hawaii. But I want to try everything on this list. You’re so awesome Steph . What what ya favorite food to try ?
Thanks, Fro! I think my favorite out of all the places was Waiahole Poi Factory :)
Awesome video Steph. Next time I'm on Oahu I will check these places out, except maybe the Ramen place. I agree, the grocery store is a good place to find Poke at an affordable price. Foodland is my favorite places to shop. Take Care
Excellent! Yes, Foodland is where I bought lots of my food on other trips.
Another fantastic video, Steph! Made me hungry and I learned a lot! My birthday is Friday, the 26th, and I think now I’ll have to treat myself to a delicious Hawaiian meal at Ohana Grille here in Colorado. Pales in comparison to being in the islands, but it’s the best I got. Thanks for sharing this video...I loved it! Sending love from Colorado! Take care!
Jim TheGuitarMan Thanks, Jim! Your bday isn’t far from mine (Feb 21).
Steph Tayler Live I’ll be sure to make a note of that so I can wish you a happy birthday! Mine is next week (July 26). 🤗
Jim TheGuitarMan, my birthday was yesterday and I’m playing my 68 Les Paul flametop. Yours looks like a Gibson 335?
Brian Walsh Actually it’s a Gretsch 6120....my favorite guitar out of all the ones I own. 👍🏼
Man, I knew I was wrong as soon as I hit send. A Gretsch. Right on brother. I was blessed with a 68 Les Paul, then traded it for a 49 Martin twelve string. Best trade I ever made. Playing all sorts of guitars, from acoustic to electric and back, heavy metal, hard rock, I went back to blues. I knew I misnamed your guitar, and wanted to start a conversation for no particular reason. Aloha my brother.
Now that I'm hungry......Thanks Steph. All the best. Mitch
And LILIHA! Grew up on that since I was a kid, so good! 😋😋😋
Great vid!! But Mahina Hawaii is EXPENSIVE. Let me know if they have any discounts or any other guides/recs on the island that you've heard of, now that they've reopened Hawaii for tourist 💜 I'll be in Oahu in 2 weeks. 🤙👍
Koko Head Cafe for brunch.
Haleiwa Cafe for breakfast before surf.
Awesome, thanks!
Mitsu-Ken! Garlic fried chicken. It comes in some weird combos, like the sport pack: two pieces of garlic friend chicken, seaweed on rice, and a cold hot dog. It's weird, but the garlic fried chicken is unbelievably delicious.
Mmmm 😋
what glasses are you wearing at 5:58 mark?
awesome video as always Steph!!!
Thank you! Got them at Express!
Add: Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck. (Soooo good). :)
The ice cream at 4:20 looks yummy 😋
"Twas!! 😋
Very beautiful loved it
Thank you!
Malasadas at Leonard’s bakery 💕
Thanks Steph, now I am STARVING
Try editing this video for hours 🤤😑
Steph Tayler Live never edit on an empty stomach 😂
R u aware dat Ramen Manichi is Japanese... and it’s in the mall! Wanna have a go lady???!!! Bring itttttttt!!!!!!!!💪🏻
A.A. Strumming 🥊
lau lau is my all-time favorite hawaiian food... I'm so glad you tried hawaiian food at a good place... you must also try the pipikaula at Helena's...
You should try "Hokulani Bake Shop" located at 500 Ala Moana Blvd. They are the first cupcake eatery on the island and is KNOWN for their cupcakes since winning "Cupcake Wars" on the Food Network in 2012. They have also been voted to having the Best cupcakes in town!
Awesome! Thanks, Michelle! I'll check them out :)
instead of going to a ramen place, you should have gone to a saimin place where locals eat..saimin is 'unique' to Hawaii..
Hi Beautiful, Places to go in Kauai for grind,, fast Freddys, the Hut mahi mahi sandwiches.. Kilauea market for loco moco's ,,
Great video...U need a video on Maui as well
WATCH DOCTOR Thanks! I did one! Road to Hana 💁🏻♀️ Unless you mean a food-specific one.
I love fruits. Have you tried mountain apples at the fruit stand? It's smaller than a regular apple but it's a little soft and more juicier
Why did you miss the cocopuffs at Liliha Bakery? That is what made them famous!
brah i jus left oahu for go werk on da mainland for couple weeks. now i like fly back home
808 Hawaiian We just missed each other.
I always wanted to know. WHY on earth is there more work on the mainland rather than the island itself? Is it because the majority of work in Hawaii only tourism related? That sounds so retarded that you can't work from home!!!! Now add airfare, hotels, gas on top of that from the mainland! BULLSHIT!!!
I just recently found your video on Kauai. I love your videos. Any chance you can recommend any place to eat in Kauai?
Pizza Bella, Lihue.
Thank you! I only had a chance to get to Duke's and Keoki's which were both pretty good. Most of my Kauai trip I ate grocery store food to save money for my helicopter tour.
Steph Tayler Live , thank you so much for the advice. Looking forward to seeing some more traveling videos.
side street and liliha bakery!!!
Big Wave shrimp truck in north shore!!! Resterant 604 in Honolulu
Açaí bowel looked delicious 😋 That’s what I Probably will get more than once at Oahu, if I stay like 3 weeks! From other RUclipsrs vlogs, Sun Rise Shack at the North Shore has good Açaí Bowels. I’m vegan. If I go to the restaurants you went too & if they have the vegan food, like vegan burgers, I probably get that. Steph 🙂 Do you see any all vegan restaurants while you traveled around Oahu? Thank you 😊
Henrey, the North Shore of Oahu is all surfers and hippy types. There’s lots of all vegan places to eat in Haleiwa. Everywhere else on Oahu it’s meat and rice. Good luck brah. Aloha.
Brian Walsh Thank you! I will keep Haleiwa in mind to places to eat😀
Hi Steph! You’ve convinced me to visit Hawaii and I’m planing on going for Christmas and NYE. Where would you suggest to visit and should I make sure to be in Honolulu for NYE? Thank you!
Awesome!! You’ll love it. I was actually in Kauai around Christmastime. There’s nothing like it 😊 I haven’t had a chance to experience NYE there yet, but I would imagine Waikiki has some stuff going on.
I’m renaming STL as Some Tasty Lunches. 🤗
hahahahaha
You're SOOOOOO PRETTY OMG!
You missed the best restaurant side street inn, the original one by ala moana shopping center, not the one on kapahulu
Great recap!! I know you say you didn't want to go commercial with your review I don't I think Helena's Hawaiian food is quite commercialized yet. What are your thoughts when you get a chance come check my Hawaii review out. You did a good job with the edit and the content. Great narrating
No spam musubi? that's a local favorite also. Loco Moco is great though.
Yep. My neighbor/auntie in Kaneohe made the best spam musubi ever! We’d go fishing and give the neighbors fish. They’d bring us all kinds of good grinds in return. Mostly it was the spam musubi that we waited for. Spam is really phony ham, but there’s an art to making the sushi rice just right.
Nice I used to get it at Radford high school growing that and the passion fruit and guava. The best
Right on. You can’t beat the fresh fish and fruits in Hawaii. We have a huge avocado tree, apple banana trees and lilikoi vines (passion fruit) in the yard. I came to Hawaii after high school but I know how everyone here goes by, “what school you went brah?” Radford is town side right? Kalihi or Waipahu or Makiki? I forget.
@@brianwalsh7931Salt Lake side by Aloha Stadium...the ewa end of Honolulu
hawaiiguy 1, oh, ok. Salt Lake. I never spent much time on that side. You’re talking about somewhere near the Ice Palace? I thought I saw a high school near there but it’s been years since I been that side.
Oh poi, everything looks de-lychee (sorry, taro-ble joke). Congrats on another fun video, Steph!
That’s hilarious brah! 🤣 Cool play on Hawaiian words.
Lou Why are you like this?! 😂 🤗
You should go to the pig and the lady in China town and get the pho banh mi it's the best sandwich you'll ever eat.
i know you touched on pineapple in another video. but how terrible is the pineapple state side compared to Hawaii? no comparison. great video as always. thanks now i want some pork from the ground.
Ross Hutchison It pales in comparison. So much sweeter in Hawaii. Yes, I was salivating the entire time I edited this video 😂
It’s been my experience that the pineapple is much sweeter here and delicious. It should also be mentioned that in June July the mango is the best you will ever taste.
Lychee is originally come from Guangdong province of China.
"Heaven in a little cup"

Premium Blue L❤️VE Haupia😍
You always find all the best food and culture spots steph,,,,,,,you may just be finding ur way to my ♥,.as I happen to be single ,,,,still,,,,,just putting that out there.,.,,
We r expecting Maldives trip from u
😍
Can you sync the voice with the video?
Teds bakery! In north shore
You go for the scenery, NOT the food, lol. I missed mainland food there. Although seafood is always good.
E. Nathan Glass What are you talking about? Food in Oahu is amazing. Been living here for 3 months and being from food Mecca Chicago I can say I keep finding more and more amazing places to eat. Of course I miss mainland food too but I’m blown away by how much great food there is. So much so that it’s easily classifiable as a foodie destination. JUST DONT EAT SOLEY IN WAIKIKI!
When can we expect u r next live strem
Great video but distracted by the hot dude! Lol
Great video but distracted by the hot gal! Lol
Alfred Romeo lol
@@Alfredromeothatsme LOL
Char hung sur
Fight me 😂
You went to Liliha Bakery and didn't mention the coco puffs? You are missing out on a lot of Hawaiian food if you think Waiahole is the best Hawaiian food, of course I'm not telling you where to go. A lot of place get over run with tourists now if you mention them on RUclips, good for the business, bad for the locals.
it is leechee lee but not lychee lie pls dont lie
Seems pretty gross.
That's Turon not lumpia. Also, no one calls it Lee-chee.
we called it leechee all over Asia , mr john who but not hai wai or america
it is not from ur country and dont try to be smart here pl
i dislike this because u didnt reply me and i continue this till u reply me clearly honey i love u
🤷A thumb is a thumb either way, so thank you for the activity on my video 😉 Feel free and leave the dislike as is. If you "love me honey", you wouldn't have left it in the first place.
beautiful and delicious but too much plastic 😋👍🙄 sorry
Maybe so, but did you know that Hawaii could become the first state to ban most plastics at restaurants? Stay tuned...
just go mcdonalds
