Released a lot of squirrels and skunks and even a cat. I do notike when people live near wildlife and then want to do away with the wildlife. We are here to care for the creatures, not to kill them.
I notice that you apparently knew that the mother died by being hit by a car and then instead of teaching the baby how to avoid automobiles, you taught it to dig worms. This is so wonderful! Racoons are so very misunderstood. They are intelligent creatures and very sweet. (No don't try to pet them) RABIES IS A RARITY. People need to stop with that. I took care of racoons for years. My cats loved them, the mommy brought her babies to us. I lived in an urban area where they had nothing to eat but trash. I still miss them. We had to move. I live in Colorado & have several racoon & skunk families I take care of. I feed my stray cats on the rail of my porch, had to nail the bowls down, cus the raccoons would knock them off. Lol, They never bother the cats & just want to eat or play. Thank you for taking care of this poor guy. I loved watching your video, sorry for your loss.
So sorry you lost your lovely mum, you will carry her safe in your heart always. Thank you for this beautiful video - aren't animals wonderful, those kittens following the blind raccoon brought a tear to my eye, there was something so sweet and innocent about it. God bless you for feeding the vulnerable raccoon and bringing some happiness and security into his life, you made a huge difference to his time on the planet and that's very special. Glad you kept the kittens - what a pair of cuties! God bless you and yours and thank you for sharing the joy you have experienced with your animal encounters. Big hug from a friend in England. X
I believe black cats are on a whole different level on being aware of their surroundings. My precious black cat knows my dog has arthritis and constantly licks his paws to comfort him, he is 13 years old already and it looks like my black kitty knows something is wrong with him. I wouldn’t be surprised if my black cat gave us some kind of signal in the moment my dogs is about to pass.
@@sirob9532 NO. Not that kind if signal. Why do u ask? Out of curiosity or just a basic need 2 diminish a connection between animals and ENLIGHTENED human beings
This is so heart warming. The two kittens know that they are on duty; it is clear that they have a loyalty to him/her. Thank you for sharing this; you are clearly a wonderful person.
I am now working on what I figure is the 4th or even 5th generation of raccoons that live in the street storm drains by my house. Mom and Dad has many time brought out their babies for our approval as well. They feed out of the outside cat dish and we just leave extra for them. This started many years ago, with just one fat old guy who would waddle around, then grew into the local gang of masked thieves on the nightly raid, with as many as 6 in tow. Never have I attempted to handle or capture any and allways just let em do their racoon thing's of eating snakes in the garden , an occasional tomato or corn ear, along with cat food that is well supplied. They give us hours of watching em play on the lawn and in the garden, and have even accepted the tiny dog we have ,that they must think is a joke for a racoon !
Years ago my raccoon crawled under my house and had four babies I was sitting on the kitchen steps than 21 of them came over and started playing with my shoestrings. After a Few minutes of four of the babies were playing with my shoestrings and climbing up my leg. Hilarious. They still drive by occasionally for a night times
Great update and I to adopted a small pure black kitten after losing my husband and the joy she brought and still does was truly what we both needed,Its so cool you had the 5 years with the racoon,Ive raised 2 and I love them. Thanks for the Beautiful story
Yh it was very touching and a nice read, I do also hope he died peacefully. He was a soldier, very strong indeed. I wish the RUclipsr best wishes and his mum would be happy either way xx 😊😊
Thank you for this lovely story and straightening people out about raccoons-they are such amazing creatures. So glad you kept those adorable cats. Sorry about your mom and your other cat. They must be gleefully watching over these babies and you.
A book from my childhood as well...such a beautiful story, loved the characters as well, in fact have loved raccoons ever since....Sterling Norths book 'Rascal' had a profound influence over me as well when I was even younger, when I was in my mid twenties I raised two babies til they could be released to a wildlife rehabilitator. They would then be safely adapted to returning to their wild roots. We had found them along the highway, they had been down to skin and bones. We looked for their mother for a long time and in the end came to the unfortunate conclusion she may have been hit by a vehicle on the highway, even though we never found her. They were curious, intelligent, playful, adventurous lit'l critters. To have been in their presence and having been a part of their tiny lit'l lives was almost magical. I immensely enjoyed watching brother and sister play and had much respect for them. Trash pandas???....Nah, no way...there is so much more to these beings...they were quite incredible. And I will always remember these stories of my youth...They transported me to a different place- a wild place, on their level. Because of those stories I have a different respect for animals that I still have til this day, and I will always be a better human being for it. 💞
Thank you for taking care of such a disabled raccoon. And for taking in those amazing kittens. I would do the same. I have a rescued Chihuahua, 3 rescued cats I got as kittens and a feral adult I am taming to come inside. I also feed the raccoons in my Los Angeles neighborhood along with the possums.
+whathell6t "Yo, Paws, Claws. Make sure that ain't no one steppin' on my left or right, got it? I'm sick and tired of bumping into-" "Boss, you've been bumping into us."
They folow the racoon around like it's there mom. So interesting. Thank you for sharing this amazing moment and your story. I'm so sorry for your loss my hart gos out to you. I'm happy you could bring those kittens in, NOT an easy job taming feral cats lol but I don't have to tell you that. I wish you all the best, you deserve it.
BAD EYES. ACTUALLY THAT IS LITTLE AT ABOUT 12 POUNDS. I HAVE SEEN SOME AS BIG AS FORTY POUNDS IN THE WILD DOWN IN THE OZARKS. BUT THAT BIG WE CALL GRANDDADDYS OR GRANDMAMAS AS THEY ARE PROBABLY CLOSE TO TEN YEARS OR OLDER AND STAY HIDDEN MOST OF THE TIME. AND PROBABLY RELATED TO MOST OF THE OTHER RACCOONS IN THE AREA. AFTER 20 POUNDS, THEY CAN AND HAVE KILLED ABOUT ANY SIZE DOG THEY WISH TO, JUST BY GETTING THE DOG IN THE WATER AND DROWNING IT BY COVERING NOSE AND MOUTH.
I have multiple sclerosis & my cats always take care of me. They are a little weird too. I think cats innately know somehow when there is sickness. All cats are a little bit weird but so kind & caring. Be well. Having a chronic illness that others likely can not understand is the first battle then the emotional grief that others in the world have no point of reference to understand is the second. Stay positive. Stay tough. When the devil whispers, "you aren't strong enough to overcome this storm", whisper back, " I am the storm".
There's a family of Raccoons in the woods behind my home that adopted a feral kitty. It's been several years since I first saw em, but the now full grown cat is still hanging out with them. Every time I see this troop of Raccoons, the cat's right there no matter where. Up a tree, peeking over the back fence....everywhere.
Awwww sounds cute. We have a fox that keeps coming to our garden. Sometimes during the day and it just lays on our decking for a while before moving on

@@WretchedEgg528 it can exist in bats without killing them but it also makes the host aggressive so it bites and spreads the disease. As long as you go to a hospital immediately after a bite from any mammal you'll be fine
@@matty9460 thx for the answer. I've touched a bat twice in my life.
Never again.
This was very wholesome. RIP blind raccoon
Proof that some of the best friends were never expected.
Thank you for taking care of that poor Raccoon and taking in those kittens. God Bless you!
Most communication is non verbal. Heartwarming video.
Cats: "Master, can you teach us your ways!"
I love to see different kinds of animals getting along!
The two young cats are so cute! They are obviously siblings. I love their body language.
PlanetRockJesus yes. we humans could learn a lot from animals. shame we don't.
This is such a lovely video and you all seem like lovely people for taking care of these animals!
Lotus Ye try it
I believe black cats are on a whole different level on being aware of their surroundings. My precious black cat knows my dog has arthritis and constantly licks his paws to comfort him, he is 13 years old already and it looks like my black kitty knows something is wrong with him. I wouldn’t be surprised if my black cat gave us some kind of signal in the moment my dogs is about to pass.
That’s so adorable! Black cats are little angels.
Best wishes for your dawg, homie
Real. Me I just love black cats. So sweet.
What like the cat jumping up and screaming hurry come and say your last words doggies about to die? That kind of signal?
@@sirob9532 NO. Not that kind if signal. Why do u ask? Out of curiosity or just a basic need 2 diminish a connection between animals and ENLIGHTENED human beings
This video deserves some kind of wholesome reward and my heart felt so good when I read that you kept the 2 little guardian angels
They are really good and very weird cats! They have their weird quirks and are completely bonded only to me.
This is so heart warming. The two kittens know that they are on duty; it is clear that they have a loyalty to him/her. Thank you for sharing this; you are clearly a wonderful person.
The duel escort is totally adorable.

Guy Kelley that is awesome I appreciate people that love animals
Years ago my raccoon crawled under my house and had four babies I was sitting on the kitchen steps than 21 of them came over and started playing with my shoestrings. After a Few minutes of four of the babies were playing with my shoestrings and climbing up my leg. Hilarious. They still drive by occasionally for a night times
You should tape it
You're pretty much their God at this point.
Great update and I to adopted a small pure black kitten after losing my husband and the joy she brought and still does was truly what we both needed,Its so cool you had the 5 years with the racoon,Ive raised 2 and I love them. Thanks for the Beautiful story
God bless these dear kittens, especially for accepting the blind raccoon, and being kind to him.
Thank you for caring for all three animals ... bless you
This is so touching...thank you for giving these three the opportunity to coexist...
I wish there were more people like you in the world.
I'm sorry to hear of his passing.
Thanks for adding the updates. I wish more people were as beautiful as you are.
Me too
Yh it was very touching and a nice read, I do also hope he died peacefully. He was a soldier, very strong indeed. I wish the RUclipsr best wishes and his mum would be happy either way xx

This is just so sweet. It's almost like the two kitties are watching over him. :)

Thank you for this lovely story and straightening people out about raccoons-they are such amazing creatures. So glad you kept those adorable cats. Sorry about your mom and your other cat. They must be gleefully watching over these babies and you.
Kittens are incredibly intuitive... i've witnessed it before
Thank you Erin. So grateful to see others who care :)

Reminds me of “Frosty a Raccoon to Remember”, a book from my childhood. Such wonderful creatures. Thanks for the story and the updates!
These two in the black suits look like bodyguards for sure :
Joanna Almost like the raccoon is the crime boss.
+whathell6t "Yo, Paws, Claws. Make sure that ain't no one steppin' on my left or right, got it? I'm sick and tired of bumping into-"
"Boss, you've been bumping into us."
hahaha you guys are funny. You are all right about him and his boys ! This raccoon is wearing his black mask for a reason ...
They are members of the dreaded and feared 'Ninja Kitties' Society!
+Snow Leopard Is that a racial slur because they're black? I feel so triggered right now. (j/k)
All I can say is, awwww. My heart goes out to all these poor animals. But good hearts like yours helps.
This is so cute! They probably call him “Uncle” while he teaches them valuable life lessons and gives them quest to do.
I dont think I've seen anything as awesome as this. It appears they are actually guarding the racoon.
So sweet, glad to see that he was well taken care of while he was alive.
Amazing relationship between species humans could learn alot from animal's
Wow, those two amazing kitties are escorting him where ever he goes, this is so adorable 🥰
These cats really know something is wrong with the raccoon it’s amazing
Yeah, maybe from body language?
They protect it from danger I believe.
Thank-you for helping this little raccoon, bless you!
Brandt McCall bless them indeed
Brandt McCall amen what wonderful folks
Brandt McCall ... little?!? that thing is huge!!
uncle freddie I'm guessing Brandt has never seen a wild raccoon before.
My blind dog has bodyguards that help him find his food every morning. This is a beautiful video
Thank You for sharing! Thumbs Up!
Sometimes during the day and it just lays on our decking for a while before moving on
Poor ol' guy, he looks about half lost.
Incredible story you wrote and shared for us. Thank you for that and for being the kind of compassionate earth steward we all should endeavor to be. Can't imagine the life this poor raccoon would have faced had it not found your kindness and care. The sweet little kitties too! I loved that they created their own family!
Great story!! I had never come across this video before so am glad to have found this very unique story. Those kitten were so unusual in their way of caring for the raccoon. Wow, great story, glad you had the opportunity to experience such behavior.
It’s very touching to see those three staying together.
Did anyone else notice that there was a second raccoon in that den-like hole he approached around 2:30? I wonder if that was a buddy of his.
Jk Howling .. yes I saw it after your tip. Great perception man.
Yeah..there was another racoon in the hole
J HOWLING. I DON'T THINK SO, CUZ HE BACKED UP, N WALKED WAY. I TYPE IN CAPS CUZ I AM GOING BLIND, SO PLEASE PEOPLE DON'T YELL AT OR CURSE ME...
Wow, you are very observant. I'll bet only 1 in 1,000 people would see the second one, if that many. He/she blends right in with the scenery.
You can clearly see the face of another raccoon in that den on the far right side of the screen around 3:12.
Thanks for sharing quiet nature time with us. Really loved it.
I spent the entire video reading the description.. very touching story thanks for sharing!
That's great and thank you for taking care of him during his time on earth. You guys are the best
I would imagine with its limited eyesight being out in the daylight gives a better chance of perceiving obstacles than in the dark.
You are so right about raccoons, as I raised 2 keeping one of them for 2 years till she left on her own . That's so cool you took care of him.I know this is older video but it's great
Body guards: Why is this cat so fat? and where is he going?
It's so fat because Eryn09 thinks best way giving love is to FEED, FEED, FEED. :-(
the fat one is not cat lool. it is a Raccoon
@Relative Suffering 10:32 theres a bad egg in every bunch loo
@@bertiradisch7056 you realise the raccoon died at the age of 5 years. Normal life span of these animals are 2-3 years.
Plus, the thing was blind and handicapped.
ERIN clearly knows how to take care of his raccoon.
@@topgun9587 actually if you take really good care of a racoon, cat, dog etc. They can live up to 10 years

you're an amazing human being
He's blind but has excellent smells and hearing. Those kitties just help him more. He can smell them and knows what's up. He can probably see a lil, but, with his other senses in high gear Sight is really not the most important
So sorry for your loss, your Mom sounds so caring 💗. I lost my Dad from pneumonia last year. Anyway, I have a fluffy, chubby orange cat that waddles exactly like your raccoon when I see it from behind! "Breeze" was a stray that was skinny and matted when he decided to adopt us. We also had a short haired orange cat show up starving last year. We couldn't turn him away either. His name is "Morris". I hope you have a great life 🐱💖🐱
