People dont understand how much Skill this takes. Fucking awesome
Its not good enough, we can see it with our own eyes
[WG] xunit im know that feel when you can model whole body whitout head in 4 houers and stuck whit head for 10 houers more ... i hate faces ;).
Doesn't look like it's taking that much skill
I don't want to offend anybody, it's just my opinion
Julian Arnold as a beginner, it took me several hours to make a donut on my first day. This is probably pretty hard to do.
Of course it can take long but the proportions look very strange and the uv unwrapping was done poorly
This looks good: 8:45!
Darius Duesentrieb lol
haha
Loooooooooool
Try pausing at 8:47 Or 8:46 or in between them you could see a box on her lips maybe 8:46:05
(8:45)😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 That looks like the animations, things and weird and strange creatures that were in Kong Studios...
didnt know modeling was so hard when i complained how ugly lara croft looks in game
From what I've seen and heard, modelling isn't a hard process after you learn the basics; it's just time-consuming. And Lara Croft used to look like that because of the technical limitations of that time.
It's not about difficulty. Like when you're using paint, just try and press ctrl z until you get that photorealistic effect you were searching for. Ofcourse that's not how it works, the "basics" you are talking about is a shit-ton of things that you can learn only with practice, study and fantasy. It is just like sculpting, but way more powerfull and with the ctrl z thing.
You can barely see how much smart things he has done in this single video. To a CG amateur artist, videos like this are pure gold as they allow me to see new and/or more efficient techniques to just save HUNDREDS of hours of work.
If Lara croft used to look like this you should know, that the Number of Vertices on this model here in the video (~27k) is about the same as a whole charakter in Battlefield One(~30k). I think I read the newst version of Lara has about double the amount with ~50k (for the whole body, not just face).
Actually u can pretty much do ai make 3D models of 2D references so not hard 😀 but must know how program . And ai isnt that requiered either sinse this its just filling
@@fghfghggffghv612 Sculpting definitely is hard... everything shown here has nithing to do with what the professionals do. The creator of the vid doesn't know about Anatomy, prooer sculpting, proper texturing, reading Shapes correctly, Proportions etc.
And I was happy cuz I successfully made a freakin' coffee mug :)
same, it was hard
gotta start somewhere
Blender guru tutorials 😂😂 same with me
Lol I made the coffee mug too
Mee too
The reason everything looks distorted is because your reference photos weren't taken with tele lens (close to ortho as possible). You might get away with using a corrective distort to shift things in the photos before modeling. Best would be to get a woman, put dots on her face especially the cheeks, forehead and around the chin areas and photograph her as far away as possible with a zoom lens. Use those photos to model from.
Good suggestions
Would it work if you set the camera in Blender with the same values as that one the pic was taken with?
Yes, but it is quite tricky to get the location and focallength perfect. Worth a try!
Perhaps a good idea to first photograph a transparent cube (for instance built from plexiglass) or some other reference object so you can compare accurate 3d shape to how it aligns to photos.
I'll ask Angelina whether I could draw some Points on her face
@@rvdende Blender Guru has an add-on he used (1:36) in his video called. "Create a Subway in Blender in 20 minutes". Where there are lines you can place down to both get the perspective of the shot, and the focal length of the lens.
There is a catch though. If you don't have definitive lines, and a wide enough shot in your photo. You're gonna have a hard time making a exact match.
Me after i delete the default cube
*looks at the screen proudly*
Me: gonna start my animation industry soon
lol 😂
Hahaha same here..
Lmao same
Everyone has to start somewhere lol
Hahaha same
Just completed my donut tutorial 😅
Don't give so much fame I'm not used to it 😂
Hahahaha I was happy with that till now
Yeah same
Donut show
Blender guru 😅
I stopped in the middle because I hated my donut lol
Dang. This makes me appreciate all the work that digital artists around the world REALLY do to pull off industry standard projects.
I like how he designed the whole eye Instead of adding a 3d eye texture
one of the reasons why I really appreciate games, because making a face just as complex as this character, work is very good sir.
You should have included the hair too... But who cares, this is freaking amazing, I'm light years away from this level of skills haha
thought the same thing! would make it much more believable.
Alisson Damasceno light years is distance measurment
Gugun Gunawan ssst
That's the point ;-)
Alisson Damasceno cool
4 hours completion? That’s awesome man ! Took me 3 days to make a cube looking dude holding a torch, good work man 👍
8:45 You should have stopped there
Agreed.
Lol
I've messed around with Blender long enough to know how tough it is to use (for a newb, I'm a 2D animator). This is seriously fantastic.
12:25 Next stop: Uncanny Valley!
Seriously, though, while I was a little disappointed by the end result, the fact that you did this all in the span of one afternoon, and that this was only your second head model, is astounding!
12:14 HER FACE!!!
@@crockodil4ikminecraft660 Butterface...
I wish I could make a head model with so few verts. Mine always end up in the 1000's. well done!
Use topogun
gonna try retopoflow when it's out for blender 2.8... yes especially when sculpting you end up with so many verts that it's kinda necessary to do some re-topology work. so this is totally normal.
Do you know what "retopology" means?
My Last head ended Up with over 3000000 verts
8:44 me after 4 hours trying to make a house.
just in four hours, this is amazing skill. bravo
I can't understand the downvotes :/ my guess is that they're people that don't really understand modelling and expect a picasso on every wall. Still, I loved it, instructive in some ways even thanks for the video ^^
The final effect isn't something spectacular :/ I've seen a lot of models. And how they were sculpted. This one is just mesh, and diffuse texture. As 4 hour job it isn't that bad. But what's the point of that? In pro model even creating a spectualr map takes hours...
This is my second head model in blender, I've only been using blender for a week. My concern was not the texture, or even portraying the model I was creating , it was practice creating a mesh that flows appropriately throughout the face (Adjusting the Mesh and tweaking the textures are not as important as getting the mesh to flow around the face accurately.) I can easily spend another 4 hours perfecting it and then showing off the result later. However, in this channel, I will be posting my progress as I learn blender no matter how imperfect things start out. it is a learning experience and eventually I will be skilled enough to be able to roll with the big dogs. If you want to stick around and see my progression is up to you.
As second model it's good start.
There is always some downvotes with youtube, its like its built in to the system.
You've only been using it a week? WOW! You give me hope!!
The amount of effort you put into just the eyes is insane
finally i found the topology workflow that works for me. This is amazing. thanks so much
Organic modeling is freaking hard. I know what it takes and hats off dude
The God is the ultimate artist, there is no way we can beat that. Good job here, though
Game Changer 114 3d artist : am i a joke to you 😂
Lol. We are not joke for sure. 😂 watch my channel what we can do you will know haha
Don't know why but i find that timelapse vidz are extremely relaxing
This is really amazing. Its sorta creepy at the same time though. Either way I love ittt
my mind has never been blown away like this I hysterically laughed when s/he went to the veins extent of eye detail. My brain crashed
Me: Added all the default meshes onto a plane.
Still waiting for that phone call from Pixar.
Cool result in the amount of time spent. I’ll never understand youtuber’s down votes. This is free knowledge.
Fantastic work, and hey it's good that I could keep learning AND be entertained with the music and drawing. thanks again my friend🙏
Bruh the fact you did this is in like 5 hours is amazing.
Not bad at all. If I may, you made one critical mistake, which is that you switched to sub division way too soon, and from that point you stayed in it. The consequence being that your underlying mesh gets bent out of shape. You still want your source mesh to be smooth, so that the lines look like they flow. I would recommend doing this again, but staying in non division mode, and only smoothing out for very quick reference. This will get rid of a lot of pinching this model has, due to the underlying mesh being messy.
This is a very common mistake people make which I've made many times! And been told off by my mentors too, but just by changing that one thing, you can really improve your work!
That all said, this is a good effort and clearly you've got talent.
You forced me to watch the complete 13.51 minutes ! Fantastic !
Great work and good D'n'B music bro !
Match very well together !!! :)
You started your base mesh quite a bit different than most vids I have seen, and I mean that as a compliment. In many regards, it made more sense. Thanks for a great vid!
Why did you leave the bump in the forehead above the nose? The forehead needs to be more flat other wise you will have a weird highlight. This would be the first thing I fixed and then I would do more work on the cheeks and mouth. What you have is a good start that could be turned into a great model. And before all the haters complain about my crit's they should know that crits are what make you a better artist. I have been doing 3d modeling for over 20 years and have been modeling human anatomy including faces for medical simulators that have to be very accurate.
Matthew Simmonds its about time Someone noticed this! I cant watch this video because it makes me cringe haha
I was wondering the same thing but I shut my mouth cause I am an amateur and I thought this would seem rude to someone who is obviously really skilled.
I don't know Blender at all but I'm an artist and draw people mostly. However, you don't need to be an artist to see the flaws in someone's work. All that matters is whether or not you are satisfied with your own work. Personally, I don't think this looks that great but I don't really know the limits, or lack there of, of Blender. All I can see is, regardless of how much it does or does not look like A.J., This person is obviously very good with this program and will, no doubt, get better.
@lead slayer It doesn't matter what 3d software you use. It's about being observant and understanding the anatomy of the face.
For your second model, this is really really good. I have a feeling of you kept modeling that you are way beyond this skill level now.
It usually takes a good 4 to 6 heads to finally nail the proportions and shapes right.
2000's devs be like: 0:56 and I'm done here
Your skillset is over the top. Outstanding work. Inspiring. Great job.
Oooh I much prefer your method over extrusion for getting the basic face geometry. At least hypothetically, I'll have to try it out myself.
As i can see, it was used for your avatar. Nice job
@@Dadaskis :D thanks babe
She is the Bajoran version of Angelina Jolie. That ridge that goes from the nose up to half of her forefront, I couldn't get my eyes away from it.
AMAZING! Fantastic work. The day I can do that, I can die!
Won't take you too long to learn.
Maybe :) Anyway it's a very nice work even pleasant to watch. Congrats to the artist
so your imortal?
Well I just started my first head yesterday, and it looks amazing so far! ;) So it wouldn't take you long to learn!
Xavier Richez hell, stay away from blender then... so u can be inmortal
OMG! Your really good at this job bro.. Since it's been 3 yrs I'm pretty sure bro you must have become more professional in this type of work🔥may have a happy Journey :)
My first thought when I saw a finished result: "Lara croft".
This is absolutely fascinating. Well done.
Looks like ps1 graphics, it's okay because it through the hard process, so i can tell it's a masterpiece
awesome! best way I could find to start the modeling and maintain good topology.
Hey man the modeling is great i think that what you need more study on is on the texturing side, with a face of that quality and photorealistic UV mapping and gluing the persons face will not look cool, unless the images had a special treat in order to perfom like so, this is mainly used on games to reduce the poly count ect, since you're doing art you could add a cycles material it would look much better but probally take afew more time
What distinguishes cycles material from usual materials, duffuse, bump etc?
That double face was terrifying. Awesome end product!
Imagine god making people with blender in timelapse😅😅
imagine believing in a sky daddy
With all the imperfections I have, I think god made me in Zbrush.
@@conisert253 😂😂😢😢
Dude this is awesome,7 years old blender is seem too much power ful as it is today amd it is so hard to make a complex model in blender 2.79 but you did it 🎉
This dude is GOD FATHER in his craft
can you please provide a step by step tutorial to do this.
this is f***cking awesome!!!
Thank you for this complete modelling of a head. I put the speed on lowest and watched from beginning to end. Learned a lot! I will use this tut as a reference.
How long it took you for this?
AT FIRST I THOUGHT THEY WILL BE SCULPTING A SPHERE-
I feel like the picture still looks way better than the model.
No amount of computer modeling could ever recreate such perfect face.
Great job though!
How long did it take you to make this? How many hours? And did you just use your mouse. Or a tablet?
no one use tablets
@@MartinDoesLife What? Everybody who does sculpting uses a graphics tablet. He modelled everything so there was not much use of a graphics tablet HERE.
@@ankushpatanwal6535 no
@@MartinDoesLife What are you even talking about? Don't talk BS if you've never heard of graphic tablets.
You are the king of blender
is there a way in blender to somehow 'fill' the model with volume after it is finished, such that you can easily print it after?
It's amazing, congratulations bro, good joob
i once tried to do that... and well.. at the end i understood one thing, pictures i used for reference are not orthographic view, so i can't use orthographic view to model on them
The detail to the eyes are amazing
This video is scarier than i thought
ZEUXX yeah hit me right in the uncannies.
just what i didn't know i need
Just what you shouldn't think you need!
You should have shown the end result in various angles to be able to appreciate the detail
Love this. Great starting point for creating a face. Will def. use this , thanks!
You know I'm nicking this workflow right? I like the idea of starting with a subdivided plane, it seems to lay down the basis for the topology from the get go. I really struggle with topology at the moment
Wow this has to be the first time I'm seeing someone take the hard surface approach at this instead of sculpting and then remeshing
The mistake is that the photo you used for the side view was not taken at 90 degrees, but at about 75.
Yeah but its kinda hard to find good side reference maybe thats the best he can find
Wowww that was amazing, awesome 💥✌️
Looks great.
Doesn't look like her , good job none the less still takes alot of skill to get as far as you did even if it's not perfect so well done
Conclusion: Angelina jolie is an alien 👽
I'm not saying she is an alien, but...
A Bajoran, isn't it?
super work David I love the shadow effects and the face tone
Sculpting: *exists*
This guy in 2016:
Yeah but sculpting would make about like triple the vertex, you need to retopology again in maya or max
@@xaviermaster1 blender has a remesher engine now , in the latest version
wow! we always have everytNice tutorialng to learn! Great to know you!
ooh...so much things are crossing my mind...what if I make in 3d angelina jolie, megan fox, kate upton...and me...and I make a animation?!!!!!!!!! wooooow....my god!!!
You must have been some kind of a spider in the past life to have these skills. :)
Looks like a game Charakcter from 10 years ago
Good job
This is like a Tribute to her stunning Beauty
10:53 you have reference of right eye and making left eye? i think that the reason why your eyes looks strange on your model
And here I am making stuff with a cube....
BTW .. this wasn't time lapse. He is just that good.
Awesome work.
now keanu reeves
just trying to teach my self blender and programming (c#) if I can get to half as good as you in a few years I'll be happy : things I learnt
1. don't apply subdivide until much later
2. use a cube not a plane
3. eyes should have as much attention as anything else
don't have a clue how you managed to paste her phone on the uvs but I will be trying more uv stuff soon
looks like a half life 2 character
Alyx
I used to head model that way. It's good practice for learning still.
Its Michael jackson, please correct the title
Lol kind of
A nice technique you use. A big modelling talent I sense in you. A strong and professional Blenderhead one day you will be.
for all the time you spent on the eyes something turned out wrong
Benzinc2 she is old
The problem with eyes is that in real life they slightly converge to a point. Which is a pain to do in modeling/animations.
It looks like she has no upper eyelashes
great work!
Lols... Like what you admire the most is her eyes... Please why don't you create tutorials?... It'd be nice!!!...
Nice topology and great soundtrack choices...good work !
2 minutes silence for those who thought it would look realistic 😂
Wow! That was fascinating! Thanks for uploading!
You should have just sculpted her head, it would have been much easier
Hard Work man! Congrats!
That's a lot of time spent just on eyeballs
Wow, so well done! Thanks for posting, man! Very helpful.
Eww at 12:24
She has an eye in her ear ;D
Who says modeling was supposed to be pretty?
Great work
