Hey! About the ZZ plant(Zamioculcas zamiifolia): I have one too on my desk, and since mine is doing great(growing actually) here is a few tips: 1. Don’t water him from above. Put some water in the tray under it and if still has water in it after half am hour you can pour it out. This plant has round tuberous rhizomes. These store water as do the thick, fleshy roots & somewhat spongy stems. It’s important not to overwater him. 2. He likes moderate light so don’t put in direct sun. His leaves will burn in direct sunlight really fast. 3. ZZ Plants are native to tropical regions. Despite this, are adaptable to dry air. Misting a few times a week should help. 4. Plants don’t like dust so cleaning their leaves gently 1-2 times a year can also help them. Hope I could help :)

Zoe Langenberg I think the best way to go are always pot plants ✌️ because cut flowers can be problematic as well depending on where you are and if the flowers are grown in the area outside or in a heated greenhouse etc etc ✌️💚

The ZZ plant can survive in multitudes of lighting, from high to low light. It’s also an extremely tolerant species. The plant however, has really thick bulbous stalks that hold a lot of water. I recommend keeping it in that bright sunny window and watering thoroughly about once every 2 weeks. If you see dead foliage, just cut it off so the plant can focus on pushing out new healthy growth.

Don't worry too much about your plant, the one you have usally is very resistant. Just try to water it not too much, and it looks like it already built new stems (light green) so overall it should be fine. Maybe cut tdown the old dead roots and pick up the leaves which seem to have gathered at the bottom of the plant on the earth.

I have a lot of Ikea type style furniture myself and adding legs to lift it off the floor is a cheap way to make it look expensive. It's really impresive you managed to almost kill off af zz plant, they are infamous for surviving any conditions 😅 maybe some fresh soil/good load of fertilizer and good light in a space that doesn't freeze the roots

If you are a lefty like I think you are, you should put your lamp on the right side of your desk. That way your left hand does not make a shadow on what you are trying to write. I know since I too am a lefty!
zz plants are pretty indestructible, so you might be able to save it. they like medium to high light with shade for half the day, but can survive for a long time with virtually no light. I only water mine every two or three weeks, and when I do give it water, I don’t give it much. I wouldn’t completely soak all the soil. overwatering is the most common way to kill a zz plant. it’s better to under water them because they’re super drought-resistant. they also don’t like temperatures below 60 degrees. hope that helps🤷🏻♂️
