- Good day everyone!! Time to look at a couple hives and see what the bees are up to. While I'm in, I do a couple of mite washes to see if we have a varroa mite infestation, as well as take a look at current stores and populations. Take a walk with me to the bee yard and let's see what we have.

Thanks for joining me in my bee yard here in Louisiana as I share how I maintain my beehives. My videos are not meant to be 'How To' videos, but simply me sharing my experiences in beekeeping as I learned it from my mentors, teachers, and studies.

Can you make a video on how you process your pollen. A not how to but how i do 😂
You are the only other beekeeper that I have ran across that actually harvests pollen, pollen has good value to it and it's easier to collect then honey. 😁
I have about 10 lbs. in my freezer. I use a round dehydrator to dry mine, I add in extra screens on the racks so it doesn't fall through. Thanks for sharing your day Mike, Blessed Days...
Thanks for the video. Do you harvest any of that fall flow? After 2 years of selling it, I have customers clammering for it. In town (Coppell) i get a good amount - probably 50 lbs per colony. In the country I dont get much if any. Take care.
"This is really an upset colony." The understatement of the day. 😆🤣
Thanks for the video Mike. Just noticed you got a new pickup truck. I know you had a lot of miles on the old Ford. You must have had a good honey crop. LOL Have a good week and thanks for the shout out on the creamed honey.
I stopped the video to write you what I sell the best and the old way of doing it. Half a jar of semicristalized honey and the other half pollen. And then rotate it for a month.. one day on top, one day normal. Every morning let's say. It's done this way to give time to the honey to break the pollen envelop. You can't just mix it if you want it to work like it should. It's my grandma recipe. At the end there will be a spoon of foam to scoop up.
I sell most of it to men who had some prostate problems. They just sweeten their tea in the morning with a spoon of it and swear it's all normal now. I drink it as my mourning tea for years now.
You can change the % and do other combinations. Some people like propolis in it too. I had so many costumers that I had to buy a pollen collector for almost every hive I have. Tourists love it. Specifically the one who like to rave party. I think they can't eat much so they live on my pollen and milk for a week 😅. I wish you have it easy like here.. l can buy plastic bottom pollen collectors for a low price
I had 7 hives go under the sea here in New Port Richey Florida My fault i should moved them back to base camp before the storm . Now i have to build back better like Joe always says.
Wow ! You suited up just like a Fireman!
I was looking for them bettle traps you put the tymatous earth in , I can't find that model trap were do I look for them
When I would use Apiguard in the Fall, I always would see slabs of brood like you saw in the upper box of that beetle trap hive. Downstairs would be the same as well. The queens laid eggs everywhere for me when I used that treatment.
Didn't call your Buddy Ryan up in Michigan see if he's ok .. I see how it is
You almost have a suit stand like Iron Man… almost
Igrew up in Valdosta….its a war zone
Clear skies after the storm glad you are safe praying for Tennessee
These is still too much capped brood for the wash to be accurate
Our goldenrod is about done here in New York
Great clarity on the camera!
Looking good Mike.
Good job!
Thanks Mike!
Good to see ya Rodney.👍
So the 2 to 1. Is that 2 parts sugar? Or water?
That would be two parts sugar one part water
My friend in Tennessee got rescued by TWRA from his house about 15 minutes before a 30 foot wall of water took everything out. He is alive but lost everything he's ever had
