With the honey mostly separated from our wax cappings, the next job would be to render and clean up the wax that is left behind. Now you would think that because the wax is brand new there should be little to clean up, but you would be wrong in your thinking. In truth, there is a lot of dirt in the cappings, and this dirt needs to be removed. So once again, and I truly love making wax rendering videos, I show the process I go through to get the cappings into a form I can use next year in our honey production. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all.

My sincere apologies to all my members and viewers who were unable to leave a comment when the video first posted. Apparently, and unbeknownst to me, I had switched the comments off. Because all the members of my channel are able to view the videos prior to making it public, they will very often leave comments. Well, after 4 days of the private posting and with over 130 views, there were no comments which is unheard of, and with that many views, there should have been at least a dozen or more views but there were none. It should have been at that point I would have suspected something was up, but my simple mind did not put 2 plus 2 together. At 8 o'clock this morning Mona called to tell me the comments were switched off, and because Charlie and I were out wrangling bees, I could not change anything. Thankfully, when we got back to Charlie's I was able to go back in and allow comments. Again, I'm very sorry that mistake happened, and hopefully, it won't happen again. Thank you all for your understanding. God's peace.

Your mind was full of plans for your anniversary I think!!😊 Congratulations to you both!
My favorite videos every season is when you do the wax rendering.
Mine too!
Belated congratulations. Thank you, Jesus, for bringing these 2 together.
Happy Anniversary to you and your wife. I am always delighted to watch your videos as I have learned much about bee keeping, rendering, wax rendering. It reminds me of an elder friend who kept bees for his blueberry and strawberry fields, and pear orchard. I never really knew what he did with the wax...but we loved to go picking all three fruits and buy his honey knowing that the taste came from the efforts of his workers. Thanks for those memories...and the education you are passing along to us.
It's a beautiful thing to watch the cycle of honey and wax production. Bees are truly fascinating. A special gift from God! ❤ 🐝
Happy Anniversary! 🎉
Hello!
I just wanted to give you a tip that if you were looking for food grade buckets, check with a grocery store that has cake decorating in it.
I am a decorator for a small mam&pop grocery store and we get 5 gallon buckets of icing and when we use it up, we give the buckets away and they come with a seal tight lid.
If you told the grocery store that these were for the Abby for the honeybees, they would probably give them to you as well. Or sell them very cheap.
I enjoy your videos - we use to keep bees when we lived on acreage. We moved into a village and it’s not worth it when all the neighbors use pesticides.

The unglamorous task of beekeeping.
Oh contrar, contrar I really love rendering the beeswax, and the real bonus, I get to share the experience with everyone. Thanks for watching. God's peace James.
Mr. Ed
Good morning Mr.Ed Congratulations to u and Ms. Mona! Janet and I have been married 46 years! We are very happy. Three childern Janet was a stay-at-home mom! Her love helped put me thru medical school to be a GP MD. Retired, and we have a farm called Applewood Ranch in San Antonio, Texas. We have lots of beehives on the farm. God bless you and Ms. Mona! That is a lot of wax and a lot of work. Ya'll have a wonderful weekend yeah hear.
Thank you Brother Lazarus such a beautiful serene garden, those Loofah's and all the blooming plants and flowers and the fountain are fantastic
A most happy Anniversary to you and Mona. God bless 🙏 and both.
Hi Jeff, you got a small child there !!! I'm sure the brothers will be pleased with this round of wax !!!
Congratulation to you and Mona on your anniversary! Goodness that was satisfying! It is totally surprising how much muck comes out of the wax though. These bees should really learn to wipe their feet 🤣
Happy Anniversary to Mona and you Mr. Ed. May God Bless you with many more years of happiness.
That's some nice looking wax!!!
Nice wax harvest, thanks Mr Ed.
A great harvest for sure! Thanks for watching. Until the next one, God's peace Alan.
Mr. Ed
Happy anniversary to you and Mona!
Congratulations to you and Ms Mona.
Man congratulations to you and your wife!!!!
Happy Anniversary to both of you my husband and I also got married on 9/13 !
Thank you Melanie, and congratulations on your anniversary as well. That's really cool we share the same anniversary date! Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
I'd be McGuyvering up a custom metal screen with a handle to fit into the bottom of that kettle. Get all melted, then hook onto the handle to pull the screen out, and most of that debris will come out with it! Then you'll only need to worry about filtering out the finer contaminates. Not to mention... less clean-up!
That was awesome! Such a joy to see the rendering video!
Congratulations for your anniversary!
Remember the propolis traps. This is the best time to place them. While preparing themselves for winter, they propolize everything that they encounter. At least give it a try with some traps to start (10 maybe?). You can do so much good with propolis!!
God bless!
Happy Anniversary 🎉
Wow that is a lot of wax. You scored on wax. I would say don't work too hard but it would not go far with you. I think you thrive on working. I have a feeling your retirement will be spent working. But you do it for God. That is what is so wonderful. NO profit for you. Just God's love. That is some good looking wax. I wish I could buy some candles. I know they sell them at the gift shop. Beeswax is so clean and smells so sweet. God bless you Jeff.
Suggestion....make a half-cone of metal screen to set over the bucket and outlet. Keeps bees out, you have full access to the valve, and Bobs your uncle.
Let Brother Lazareth (sp?) know that he is most appreciated for his multitudinous skills from CA!
Great idea about the screen, thanks for that and for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Man that wax is beautiful. I do love your wax videos.
My Mom and I used to grow loofah. A fun thing to have in the garden.
And what a beautiful flower it makes as well as a useful product. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Happiest Anniversary to you both 🙏🏻🌈❤️🕊💯
Time for yoga with the bees.
Happy anniversary!
You are very meticulous.
These are my absolute favorite videos.
I can not even imagine! I think we had about 4-5 lbs this year. Thanks for sharing!
Mr Ed, could you make an hour long video of just bees cleaning out buckets or the frames after a honey run? It is a very relaxing buzz...
Very Interesting. Thank You, Jeff ! 🤓
Hi Jeff
I can’t wait till I have some bees to do all these little projects.
Maybe turn a floor fan on to keep the bees out of harms way.
Peace be with you.
I love ❤ Bees Wax. When I go to buy candles, I always buy Bees Wax ones. I also use it on leather handbags, leather shoes etc. Helps protect them & to repel water off them.
Happy Anniversary! It is always enjoyable to see how you take scraping and turn them into something usable.
When I see that big kettle, I get hungry for a low country boil too. 😅 God bless you also.
Happy Anniversary, wishing you many more.
Happy belated Anniversary!!
Nice wax harvest.
Thank you. I'm very happy with the work our girls did making all that wax! Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Rebecca.

Happy Anniversary
That kettle has a genius design!!! (Happy belated anniversary to you and Mona)
Good afternoon, Mr Ed. No worries on the comment section.
Happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary
My wedding anniversary is also September 13. It has been a great 21 years for us! Best wishes to you and Mona.
Such beautiful wax
Congratulations
Wow. So much wax.
Hi Mr Ed… I’ve been watching your content for years on & off!… but, I subscribed today because I just like the whole concept & what you do!
I’m not trying to make more work for you, but I know that you make candles! Have you ever considered casting the candles for the UCO lanterns? It is a unique candle for emergency & camping lanterns. They have a tea light size & a small pillar size candle lantern!
It would be a beneficial & easy way to help many people with beeswax candles (which are very hard to find for these lanterns). I’m sure that a cheaper alternative to the high market price & helping the Abbey at the same time is a win-win!
I know that I would buy them without a question, as I am 62 now & very low income. Just a thought…
Mr. Ed do you think the wax is near clean enough to make candles out of? Congratulations on 2 years! Mona is a special person to put up with you and your cohort of friends. LOL
For candle making I need to render the wax 3 times, but when I put the wax on foundation once is good enough. Thanks for watching and for the anniversary wishes. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Good morning
Bon Anniversaire to you & Mona🥂 Yes, you saved the best for last. I wonder what the 🐝 think of clean honey?😂
The great thing about bees eating honey, they don't care where they find it, on the ground or from a flower, to them it's all the same. Thank you for your anniversary wishes and for watching. Also, I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Happy anniversary 🎉🎉 September 13th is also my birthday 🎉🎉
Some people use a 5 gallon paint strainer bag to filter the drained hot wax.
There are so many different ways to get the job done, and I'm very satisfied with the process I use. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother.
Mr. Ed
21:14 Mister Miagi would be proud… “wax on, wax off”
Great video. Will the bees take any of the wax back to the hive?
That’s a great wax harvest ,how many colonies or frames of honey did that take to get ? How many hives are you running 2023/24 season ?
I'm always amazed how you get the wax out of the buckets. All of that horribly nasty wax I bought (165lbs) was murder to get out of the buckets. I actually split around a third of the buckets, beating them with a 4lb dead blow hammer. The wax was a puke brown. Three hours down, three hours back. A terrible waste of time, money and effort.
Oh, that stinks. Reminds me of a load of sheeps wool I once got, where the shearer mixed the hair sheep shearing with some truly lovely Merino crosses.....
Congratulations to both of you!!!! Does the water help the wax separate from the garbage?
😊
Oh, my bee WAX!🎉
Would the cappings be a good approximation of wax production? The combs are just started with your prep right? Maybe cappings plus X% of the comb wax?
I was thinking maybe a wipe of the buckets with a paper towel with cooking oil would let the wax loose. Shouldn't be enough to contaminate the wax I don't think.
I never considered an equation for wax production, as long as the bees produce it, I'm ecstatic. It is difficult sometimes to get the wax out of the buckets, especially when the blocks are very large, but for the most part it is simple enough. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Dave.
Mr. Ed
Happy Anniversary to the both of you may you both be blessed with many more.💕💕💕Wow what an amazing bounty of wax . Do you all just use it for candle making or is there other uses just wondering. Such a beautiful place the Abby is. Jesus blessings to all. 💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏
It probably would not be worth the effort, but I wonder if you put a small pipe down in along the side from above the wax level down towards the bottom with a solid rod in it initially...then you take out the rod and break the suction.
It may work, but that is a lot of work. For me, beating the bucket works just fine. Thanks for the idea and for watching. God's peace Joseph.
Mr. Ed
Where do you buy ur queen cages ? The hair clips
Good morning from Odessa Florida. How long did it take to bees to clean up the buckets?
Congratulations on your anniversary and thank you for another wonderful video
Belated Happy Anniversary to you both.
What an awesome wax haul.
What do you do with your blocks of wax? Do you use them yourselves for things like waterproofing, soaps, and candles or do you sell them?
Undercover Brother...
considering the amount of wax from each batch of cappings you render each year, and dead-outs and hive removals, id bet you have one nice backstock of wax.
Jeff, what liquid do you use in the jacket of your heated honey tank? Water or oil? If oil, what type and has it ever gone rancid? Thank you for your videos. I always learn something from them.
I use distilled water, it's simple, cheap, and if spilled, it drys up without making a mess. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Is there a video of the wax being put I to molds? And the finished product?
8:45 - is there some sort of cover you could put over the bucket and pipe to prevent them from getting at it while the hot wax is pouring out? Might help a few of them have it not "go well" for them ;)
Yes, it's called a Door.
If you get too much honey, in the wax you got wax. Honey butter
What do you do with the rendered wax? Could you refine it another time for a more pure wax?
Hey Mr Ed! Could you sell me a block of wax? LOL
Sorry brother, it ain't going to happen. I sure wish I had enough to sell, I could sell all I could make, but we just use it all here. God's peace Gary.
Mr. Ed
Hello Mr. Ed,
today I want you to ask for some advice. I had the pleasure to wrangle som bees for the first time. Oh, it was a little bit difficult. There was a chimmney with three pipes, in two of them there was a hive. Our chimmney-sweeper asked me for some help, because the chimmneys were blocked by the bees and there was the demand to re-open them. Of course we could not dismantle the chimmney. And of course, from the top of the roof and also from inside from the inspection-door I could only grasp a few inches of old comb.
So i made some makeshift bee-vac in advance. The vac did work, but quite to well. A lot of the bees hit the opposite net of the box too hard. So is there a special twist in the input of the vac, so the bees dont land too hard?
If you dont mind, I would like to send you some pictures of the hive and the box, but I do not know to which address.
Regards
Georg
The problem lies is suction, to much and bees get killed, to little and you can't vacuum bees. When building a bee vac you HAVE to build in some method to bleed the suction off. This can simply be cutting a hole and put an adjustable cover over it. That way, you can move the adjustment to bleed off suction to the sweet point where there is just enough suction not to harm bees as well as suck them up. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
what kinda buckets are those that you use for pouring the wax into? ive been using orange home depot buckets, with a l id over top to cool, and every time they crack and the wax gets stuck to the side of the bucket. makes for a heck of a time trying to get the wax out without breaking up everywhere.
Mr Ed you ok you look to be limping
do you sell the wax, or does the abbey use it to make candles etc?
Because we use all the wax between Monk Soap and Abbee Honey, there is just not enough to sell, sorry. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Eric.
Mr. Ed
Is the raw honey and honey that has been heated a different product?
The bucket filters hold up to the heat?
🇸🇦👍
Honest question, how many times did you get stung while filming this video, more or less than 5?
Only 4 times. Not bad for a single day. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my over 600 bee wrangling/ bee rescue adventure videos and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace Dave.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Mr. Ed Ive been watching you for years, you're the best!! I watch all of your videos, and I love your energy, your passion, and your commitment to your faith and God, much respect my friend.
Do you use that wax at the Abby for products?
can't you smoke that area to save the bees from getting in the bucket
New contest- rename the "Shit Shack" into a more reasonable and publicly acceptable name. I recommend "The Wax Works".
I don't see the point of this stage at all. Surely the wax granules are more useful for your various purposes?
You noticed all the crud that came out of the cappings right? This process cleans the wax of that.
