Lee, the "K" in K-Master is an homage to one of the engineers who helped us develop the circuit. Their last name began with the letter K.
Please thank him from me. My Black Cat 15 still sounds fantastic at low volumes and keeps me out of the dog house.
Will the Luca be back? Even if with a different moniker ( for obvious reasons)...? That was my favorite Bad Cat amp and. unfortunately, I never got the chance to own one...
@@_RLP The Luca is based on the 12AX7 side of the our Black Cat 40 so that amp or either of our Cubs (Cub IV, or Cub 40 Player Series) will you get there.
@@bad_cat_amps Cool! I'll look into it. Which would you recommend for someone who plays mostly loud clean sounds?
G. W. bedroom volumes?
Been playing guitar for 55 years and Bad Cat amps since 2010. Best damn amps I've ever used.
I love seeing how much Lee's playing has improved, I remember the early early videos where he wouldn't even plug in and now he's dangerous enough to keep up with the godly likes of Danish Pete...badass man
Great review. Awesome amps... and Oooh I’m living the little captions in the scroll-forward bar of the video!! :-D
Waiting on this vid since their namm announcement. Thanks so much for putting up a demo of this lineup
Lovely sounding amps and it's great to have so many manufacturers to choose from. I'm old enough to remember the days when it was a lot more limited choice!
I;ve owned almost every boutique amp made in 50 years of playing. Matchless, Tone King, Marshall, Morgan, you name it. The KMaster setup is by FAR the best master volume setup for low volume and bedroom playing made. It just works, the tone does not change to mud like all the others. Best all round amp I have ever owned, the Cub 15R. Put some good tubes in it and it brings it to another level. Killer amps
Congratulations to Andersons... You now have added the best amp line on the planet to your lineup of products. I love my BadCat Cub 40R USA Player Series amps... Absolutely amazing!! 🎯
I've owned just about every amp made over 45 years of playing, including Matchless, Mesa, Tone King and all the other some good, many bad. After buying the Bad Cat 1X12 15R my search is OVER! Finally an amp that plays the sounds in my head. The KMaster attenuater is BY FAR the best invented, it loses ZERO tone down to bedroom volume. Killer amp. Only thing is now my search is over and I'm kind of bummed that was part of the fun....the hunt. Now to find the perfect guitar!
Is that amp your talking about the cub 15r player series?
Thanks!
@@brisson182 yes
I remember DMing Pete on his opinion of BadCat amps years ago and feel like were here full circle 🤘🏻
My Classic Pro is one of the best amps Ive ever played, have loved every minute with it.
Had some minor issues come up a while back and was able to phone up BadCat when John Thompson himself picked up and very graciously worked me through a very basic issue.
Bad ass amp and great company!
Glad you love the Classic Pro!
I know it’s been a while, but I need some insight on the Classic Pro. Is there plenty of clean headroom? And also, are you able to get enough of a difference in tone with the 2 K-Master settings through the footswitch? I’d like to get really nice reverby Fender blackface tones and then on the second setting get the sound of a Deluxe/Twin cranked. Is that possible?
Listening to your videos every morning makes my 1.25 hour commute so much better
Didn't know I needed another amp. Thanks a lot.
What an excellent sounding introduction. Well done.
Dare I say, these are some of the best tones I have heard on an Andertons video.
I have a handwired Cub 40. Not only is it the most versatile amp I ever played, but the customer service that Bad Cat amps provides is phenomenal. 🍻
I swear by my Bad Cat, incredible sounding amps.I can't recommend them enough!
Killer sounds here! Great upload, guys. The amps sound great.
Cheers
Thanks for the kind words, Ricardo!
Not sure if I love it. Can you make 12 more videos of lee and Pete playing these amps for hours? I think that'd help
Fantastic sound, best amp demo ever.
The purple Paul is gorgeously beautiful... Thinline Telly is a timeless classic (but 22 fretter and six saddler, that I like verrymuch) and, by the way, they both sound stunningly G-R-E-A-T through the Cats, fantastic review today, lotta thanx guys!
I rarely comment on an Andertons video, as they are all so good, but those Bad Cat amps are just gorgeous. The tones and that reverb just made the hairs on my arms stand up! Anyway great video guys, I must get myself down to the shop soon (Covid permitting of course), its been way too long. The only problem is every time I do I come away with yet another guitar, I just can't help myself with all the lovely shiny things lol
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Mark! I hope you're able to try one of our amps soon!
Awesome demo of my favorite guitar amp and i switched from Dr Z to bad cat, because Captain i got tired of having it in the repair shop all the time, so thank you captain. i am from the USA Chicago/Nashville and my wife is from London and she played Sandy in Grease musical in England and NYC USand the dude from the monkeys was the director of the 5 time, 100 show's per time and Anna MCcaul my wife played sandy almost every musical and several times olivia newton john always said Anna played her the best, with the looks and accent and her acting was supperb....tty soon captain cause your the best cause you care !! Amen....
Fantastic sounding amps. Can listen to it for hours 🎉
This owner's personal description of the Co & the Cub make me care about this product even more. If this is another marketing angle, it's working, Lee. I'm interested, you charming Brit.
We really love our amps.
Bad cat have been around for a while. Absolutely gorgeous clean tone monstrous headroom. You really have to be a stellar clean player to get the best from this amp. Don't pound on it it responds incredibly well to very subtle and nuanced playing. When I played through one it was at elderly instruments in Lansing Michigan USA. Way out of my price range I think it was around 4000 in the early 2000s. If you love clean and touch sensitivity with ridiculous headroom. The Bad Cat is a good choice.
Cool stuff to the tenth degree !!!! Thanks for the new knowledge! Totally great sound
Gotta get one
I LOVE my Cub 40R head complimented with two (1x12 cabs, one cab is closed, the other is open). K-Master circuit keeps my marriage happy. Everything I wanted in an amp and More!
Welcome back to the noodle shop!! El Captain and the Pete!
Good show boys, jolly good show!!
Steven Wilson always got great distorted and clean tones from Bad Cat
Damn right. Lynx 50 for life
My friend showed me one of his live performances on blu-ray years ago. Greatest guitar tones I have ever heard. Im looking around for one to buy
I used to have a Vox AC30TBR from the early 90s, one of the Anniversary Editions and the Hot Cat reminds me of playing some high output pickups plus a treble booster through that cranked, both from note definition to the character of the tone.
That purple guitar is sick!!!
14:25 "I've worked with a fat knob." ... Gotta be Rob, ahahah!
the description does fit to the T
This is one of your chillest intro jams ever.
That purple Gibson is gorgeous. I would pick it up if I had the money. It sounds great on the Cub. I've been on the fence about BadCat. Thanks for the demo. Love your show.
Glad this video helped, Chris!
Well instantly the tones made me look up. Will have to check these out
Wow! That is awesome.
38:57 The Captain rocking out! Haha love it! :D
Sounds fantastic
You Guy's are great! you can tell that you enjoy your work🤔The Old Man NC
With the Hot Cat on chan. 2, Capt has nailed his best distorted sound EVER! Holy crap!
Thanks, Alessandro!
Thanks for telling me what badcat does to their speakers, Lee!
What to say about my Cubiii15? The tone is incredible - bright without being harsh; ballsy without any flub (once i figured out the tone-shaping of the Treble knob) - and... the string definition, when pushed, is so stinkin' tasty! Nothing about it I don't like! Plus, when I called them to answer some questions I had, Mr. JOHN THOMPSON himself called me back.... and....talked for about 20 minutes! What other company Pres does that?? Just a phenomenal company with stellar products! Lee & Danish Pete, fantastic job on showing the attributes of these beautiful pieces of gear! Cheers from Georgia, USA!
That EF86 on the Cub 40 sounds so good.
The purple LP looks great. The purple works well on the custom as opposed to a standard too I think.
Sounds great!👍👍😎
Love my BadCat amps! I play the Cub 40 PS every Sunday and generally spend most of the time on the EF86 with Fat Boost engaged. All of their amps (as well as Matchless) are just killer.
That's awesome!
@@bad_cat_amps Just yesterday, lighting guy (who is one heck of a musician) comes down out of the booth and says "Man! Your guitar sounded good today!" All it was Les Paul -> Cochrane Tim-> Line6 HX Effects ->Cub 40. The Cub is the majority of that compliment.
great amps.
oh and that yellow tele oh man what a sound.
More purple guitars and amps please! It's such a great color that doesn't get used on instruments.
Holy mother of moly @Andertons Music Co, I would buy one of those Les Pauls RIGHT NOW.
Greetings from L.A. Wish we had a Bad Cat . Ha. Didn't know they were in Costa Mesa. Right now we play Fender , old Peavey and Kustom.
Have a great day Andertons! from fans in L.A. Michael T Wyman and 99.
Great tones PETE (!)
I use badcat amps for a few years, they sound like pure bliss!!
Thanks for the support, Richie!
@@bad_cat_amps thanks to you for creating these amazing amps!
38:33 man is that a gnarly tone! Bad cat deserves more recognition than they get. Well after Andertons I'm sure they will get a lot more! Awesome amps!
Thanks for the kind words, Jake!
Bad Cat Amplifiers this just tops it, bad cats themselves took the time to reply to a no body! Man I wish I had the cash flow to afford a amp like this! Your on my radar for sure when COVID-19 struggles ends. A company like this I could stand behind! Little acts of kindness goes a long way!!
@@jmabs5096 That's really cool of you! We'll be here when you're ready.
That's a lovely custom
Lush amps my dad still ownes a mark1 mark samson protoype he bought new in 2001 it still sounds epic
Great amps! Re the purple Florentine LP, it's gorgeous, and if I had the money, even with the shipping to the US being what it is, I'd pick that up in a heartbeat
My AC 10 has a digital reverb, my JVM has digital reverb...both brilliant
Fantastic
Astonishing tones on that Cub, Christ
Thanks, James!
I just ordered a Cub 40 1x12 combo! sorry Anderton's, but since I live in Arizona I ordered direct from Bad Cat since they're just next door in California 😉 awesome review video, though!
Pete had a FIAT 127, that's cool! 😁 It was a hugely popular hatchback here in Italy during the '70s and the '80s!
I believe it was red! Hey played great back then. As does he today!
This is one of the best amp distortion sounds that i've ever heard from the cub
Thanks, Gábor!
Just got to the ox part. Holy f that sounds good!
Really Nice sounds. Im between the Cup 15r and the Morgan mvp 23 for good cleans, pedal friendly with a strat style guitar. Any suggestion for picking up one or another?
ALOHA ANDERTONS!!! WOOT WOOT!!!
That was a great intro guys! 1 year late, but stil ;)
would love to see you guys get ya hands on some suhr guitars to demo, great vid much love
They don't stock Suhr guitars
@@deltafit they also didn't stock bad cat but hey look at that
would be nice to see some very good guitars for a change .
They did stock Suhr amps, it didn't seem to work out for some reason.
Show me The Paw!
We've got a few on the way to Andertons right now.
@@bad_cat_amps Prepare for the influx of new orders to arrive a few short minutes after Andertons does the demo...
Those are seriously cool amps! Before I heard them, I thought I would like the Hot Cat most, but turns out I liked the two other's more, actually. I would be quite a happy camper with any of them, anyway!
But that Les Paul though! 😍👌
Don't have one yet, but that one is one SERIOUS contender, I'll tell you!
Think I would prefer a solid body, maybe.
"It's loud but in an absolutely powerful way", you really should try Mezzabarba amps and the Z18 in particular!
The amps sound great guys, As for the Les Paul, ask them to do a Standard in the that purple I,d get one, cheers ian
I LOVE Porcupine Tree and also Steven Wilson, and I love his tone, and he plays a PRS with Bad Cat amps - killer, killer sound. The cheapest Bad Cat head is $1,200, so it's in the ball park of the Friendman Runt (20 watt version.) Those are two really, really good heads. Out of my price range, but great great stuff.
I'm a big fan also.
Seen him playing a Bad Cat live
on multiple occasions. Love his live sound😁👍
@@jamesmarciniec4787 I've never seen him live, but would love to!
Yeah. I have the Friedman JJ 20w. Its tough to put that aside and try another amp. That JJ is just amazing
Yup because of a wilson live show my friend showed me, I am here interested in purchasing one.
Man, my pc speakers sound great. Amazing tones.
If I could I would buy that purple LP. The amps sound great too.
The Cub 40R is the apple of my eye🙏🙏🙏
Lee! Is there a big difference between the cub 40r with the 2x12 extension cab and the 1x12 combo? Not sure which one to buy! I’ve been looking at Andertons for a while and I’m unsure which to go for!
Almost forgot, customer service was best ever. One of the engineers gave me his personal cell number to call him if needed when I had a tube fail prematurely, they did not avoid me quite the contrary they whisked out a new set of upgraded tubes express mail no charge. Buy one, you will not regret it and they are reasonably priced compared to thier competition. I cant say enough about this amp and I find fault with almost everything!
A great sound guys. I've been playing guitar for about 59 years and I'm still shite, are there any tips you can give me...thank you.
A great sound guys. I've been playing guitar for about 59 years and I'm still shite, are there any tips you can give me...thank you. By the way I'm a massive fan of Nathan's bass playing.
Gosh they sound great
This might be the only cat I am not allergic 🤪 ! Lovely tone ...
on the classic pro, is the volume know pretty much a gain knob? and the k master just the master volume? and what is the solo knob for?
You talked about wanting to know how quiet it could go and still sound good...then just plugged in the Ox to see how it sounded really loud. Does it still sound good at low volumes then?
never clicked so fast for a video
Aloha! Any chance for doing a demo/review of the Britt Daniel Tele?
honestly, lees playing really keeps me interested. i could keep listening to it and never get board..
I WILL be buying a Cub 40R. So incredible!!!
Thanks, Alex! That's really awesome!
Sweet, how do you like it. I am considering getting one eventually
Very reasonably priced for boutique amps 👍
Thin line and Es Les Paul in one demo, my god :O
I have a hand wired “Sampson era” Black Car 30r, it has Matchless labeled parts inside. Will never sell, incredible amps and the build quality is insane.
I need the Lynx... immediately! December is a long way away :(
Yeah I’d say these amps are worth checking out.
I had a Matchless Chieftan 2x12, and one of my main amps now that I run with my Deluxe Reverb and my 61 Gibson Maestro Reverb is the cheapest little Bad Cat ever made, the Cougar 5! And it is delicious and killer. One of the best amps I have ever owned!
What?
What brand of guitar is Lee playing with the butterfly logo?
You should listen to kelly Jones from stereophonics when he cranks his bad cats , the sound is phenomenal
The Hotcat sounds way better than it does in this demo. I’m not sure what it is, maybe that guitar, but mine sounds so much rounder and full than the tones they are getting here. It’s more like the Cub with more gain on both channels, and maybe more midrange. Best sounding and feeling amp I have ever played, though. I play in a louder band so I can get into the guts of this amp without attenuating and it eats the other guitar players Rockerverb for breakfast. In fact, it actually replaced my Rockerverb mkiii.
That LP Florentine in purple is wicked...
Great guitars played by excellent players into exceptionally good amps ... what could go wrong? (;-))
BUT this test does show something:
- modern attenuaters are very very good and quite easy to handle
- this might be an option for all@home noodlers with a packed money purse
Thanks a lot for sharing.
Purple Les is NICE!
Will player series cleans do the job on jazz gigs?
Hey, Captain, what brand are those boots you are wearing?
