Nicky dominated the hand fighting the whole match and remained the aggressor. He initiated almost all the takedown attempts. Scoring position out of bounds doesn’t mean anything for Aly. So, if you are using ADCC rules then the match is pretty clear.
The ridiculous decision, Aly always ended up in good positions after scrambles, both walking forward. Also, nick attacking the neck while the match was stopped should be 1 penality
The overtime period was defined by all the times Aly ran Rodriguez out of bounds. Aly was controlling the mat. Rodriguez received a biased team favoritism decision

It's the same wrong attitude that people have with boxers "walking down" their opponents: just because you are moving, doesn't mean youre being effective. Also, Nicky Rod is a wrestler and he did pretty well in a submission wrestling championship, nothing strange about that. It's not like he won a gi ibjjf tournament

To me there seems to be a big difference in the Galvao vs Pena clubbing and shoving and the Nick Rod version seen here. Not a fan of Nicky Rod. Nothing new and nothing special. He is a trained wrestler that now practice The Jiujitsu. Has been done since the 90’s and will continue to be that way. They talk it up like he is some new breed that is taught by DDS and how John’s system is making this guy a blue belt in no time and hunting black belts. It wouldn't happen overnight but if they inventivised take downs more, like allowing the 2 points all throughout the fight then they'd start getting better at wrestling and play a better game standing.

I don’t think you should reward takedowns because like in MMA when a judge is scoring a round, what’s the point of a takedown if you don’t do anything with it?
Weak border enforcement, no verbal commands or gestures, improper time clock management, and general inattention to interaction with the competitors led to one of the most embarrassing officiating examples in grappling. Remember, this is supposed to be the most prestigious grappling tournament in the world. Stop the match clock at 3:49 and observe how the referee and two competitors all literally have there hands up as if to say 'I don't know what is happening'. This shows a complete officiating collapse, an instance where no one knows what is happening or why, all while the action is stopped but the clock runs.

I don’t think you should reward takedowns because like in MMA when a judge is scoring a round, what’s the point of a takedown if you don’t do anything with it?

Grappling and jujitsu is not the same thing. Rodriguez has a huge advantage over Aly in this match because of his wrestling background.
Weak border enforcement, no verbal commands or gestures, improper time clock management, and general inattention to interaction with the competitors led to one of the most embarrassing officiating examples in grappling. Remember, this is supposed to be the most prestigious grappling tournament in the world. Stop the match clock at 3:49 and observe how the referee and two competitors all literally have there hands up as if to say 'I don't know what is happening'. This shows a complete officiating collapse, an instance where no one knows what is happening or why, all while the action is stopped but the clock runs.
