This is a 10 year reunion show at second Chance after Sonics had been disbanded since 1980.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this must have been the last time this band were seen playing together. This video's an important part of their history and great to see. Thanks for posting.

During Fred's lifetime yes. Scott, Gary and Rock got back together for a one off show in Ann Arbor at a festival in 1999 according to setlistfm, with Deniz Tek of Radio Birdman filling in for Fred, as he had passed in Nov. of 1994. This was the second to last public appearance for Fred to my knowledge (his last I think was at the Rob Tyner memorial concert in February of 1992)

The reunion show with Tek was in September of ‘99 at the Magic Stick in Detroit, part of the multi night Gutterfest. Ron Asheton was in attendance but didn’t play.

Heaven and Hearth. It is in a Scot Morgan's Pirates record. I did not know that Sonics Rendezvous played this. It is great.

1:49 Fred Smith come in. Also he looked awful... still rocking and he would of been 43 in 1991. Then November 4th 1994 he passed away aged 46 (same age as Rob Tyner and died the same way a heart attack or heart failure) 1948-1994

@@Itsa6stringthang Show was an Aids benefit at the former Second Chance in Ann Arbor. Nectarine Ballroom. 1992 IIRC. That week also featured a Rationals reunion show at the Blind Pig. As far as substances, the biggest problem for the SRB frontmen came in bottles and cans. A video of this whole concert exists. If I could find it and wasn't a luddite...

As far as I know, Brother Wayne Kramer was well clean and sober by the time Rob and Fred passed on, but he did mention in interviews that he didn't want to die early like them and so many others, a motivation to avoid harmful chemical refreshment. We still lost him a little too early, but at least not in his 40s.

Many comments say Fred looks sick, but I guess they mean unhealthy. Fact is, he had some Native Am blood, and if he continued drinking beer and smoking into his 40s, yeah, he's gonna take on some unhealthiness. Sounds great, though. Tragic how he ended. MC5 were in a class by themselves.
So many of these incendiary, trend-setting bands had such bad luck with drugs and booze: MC5, Stooges, New York Dolls, all of them now looked upon as WAY ahead of their time and some of the best bands in history. For me, MC5 were the best of that lot, although the Stooges and the Dolls seem to get more credit. However, the Five paved the way for those guys, really.

But it's the first video i've seen of this oh so fuckin' awesome band.
20 years late, then it sucks.
