"got a wierd thing here..." That was funny. Hard to beat a nice piece of Oak. Great job on turning it into something beautiful. Looks like a small branch was cut and the main trunk grew back over the cut area to me. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Simon for another great video. You are a very gifted turner. I've made some natural edge bowls trying to keep the bark on. I lost parts of the bark on several occasions and tried to glue them back on. None of them worked out. Alan.
Cool bowl, Simon. For me, the greatest pleasure in woodturning is discovering the secrets hidden inside a piece of wood. In this case, it's the cut-off branches that the tree grew around and the feather grain pattern around them. Perfect wood is so boring :-) Clyde
I told my partner to get the tools sharpened, change the blade on the chain saw, I have 3 very large box elder root burls sitting in my back yard and I want to do something with them. A beautiful bowl, I am encouranged to try live edge again.
Simon, I have been watching your videos now for some time and wanted you to know that of all the turners I have been watching, you have provided me the technique that I am comfortable with. Your English is superb so do not worry about that, you do a terrific job of getting your point and your turning style across. My wife too is a Canuck, although we live in Ct, here in the USA, her family is from Thetford Mines, Quebec. Vous avez beaucoup de talent comme lanceur de bois et vous etes un excellent enseignant! Au revoir! Keep up the Superb work Simon, "a Big Fan from Ct.", USA- Todd R.
Simon, I'm, brand new to turning, but I've been loving your videos! Can you do a video about using the microwave to dry your work? What is your process? How long do you cook it? Before or after putting a finish on it? Keep up the great work, it's a joy to watch!
+Roger Leslie Thank you Roger :) I really appreciate. I don't have the money for buying one now . But this will be something I should have . Maybe one day..
Nice job Simon beautiful bowl, love your videos, I will try turning a live edge Oak bowl from a large piece of Oak my daughter gave to me, I have the 18/36 Laguna as well and I love it, .
You should try turning a piece of Live Oak with live edge. Live Oak is an Everngreen Oak that grows down here ao the third coast. It is great to turn and does not split.
Beautiful work and a well done video! I believe the word you were looking for in English to describe the finish is "satin". I look forward to your next video.

Very nice project. Question, at about 9:00 in you video you talked about needing to sand out some areas and letting it dry. It looked like you had applied a clear finish on the bowl as it had a sheen to it...did you coat with some finish at that point in the project or did it just look that way. How long did you leave it dry before you finish sanded it an applied the boiled linseed oil/shellac finish? Please advise. Thanks Much!
+Robert Trabucco Thank you Robert :) it depends, sometime in use it as a foot and sometime i remove it . I will make a video soon to show how I remove it.
I’m a new subscriber, I have a question...how long have you been doing woodworking and how long have you been doing turning. I really want to get into this.

Beautiful job. What did you do with the bottom? Did you leave the tenon on? Thanks for the informative videos. Dave
+Dave Barbo Thank you Dave , no i remove the tenon and do a falt bottom.
Another very nice piece. I also was going to ask about the tenon. Do you use it as the foot? If not, how do you remove it?
Thank you.
+Robert Trabucco Thank you Robert :) it depends, sometime in use it as a foot and sometime i remove it . I will make a video soon to show how I remove it.
I'm a Turner.im wondering how you get so much spalted wood or what you do to achieve this so much
I’m a new subscriber, I have a question...how long have you been doing woodworking and how long have you been doing turning. I really want to get into this.
Can you tell us why you chose not to use a ruff gouge in the beginning?
+linda austin-morin it's very dangerous to use a spindle roughing gouge in cross grain. You can have a big catch.
And again you did it ❤️ how long time does it take to make 1 bowl approximately?
+Norseman work it depends on the bowl, hard to say ... I never really check it .
Beautiful bowl Simon! Did you decide to sell any of your pieces yet? Great job as always!
Steve
+solarwinds001 Thank you Steve :) yes I sell most of them or give to family.
