Thank you baiju chetta for the honest review. Having used the 2 door version outside India, I felt it was a very good off road vehicle but I was not sure how suzuki would design and market it for India where people are more concerned about looks of the vehicle than the qualities of the vehicle. Glad to know they have carried over all the off road features of the 2 door version and have added some nice features to make it appealing to the masses.. I think suzuki will sell quite a lot of these.

Like bijuchettan said if you understand it's a typical offroad vehicle it's a great buy but there is no doubt that everybody loves gimni. Upgrading the tyres to at is must but the mileage will go south.

hi, as per swedish road safety culture, if you are travelling in a car without people in the back it is advised to fasten all the rear seat belts. It is to prevent rear seat collapsing and hitting to the front seat in the event of crash. But its not mandatory either so all the cars are equiped with rear seat load sensors. Also putting luggage loosely in car is illegal in sweden. But it is strange that here maruti suzuki actually forgot to put load sensors in rear seats. They may put it as a field fix later on.
Regarding seat belt reminder, it is indeed a safety feature.
After the tragic death of Cyrus Mistri, Govt india directed all the manufactures to bring seat belt reminder on all seats. Front seat regulations are mandatory with occupant detection systems with 3 level warnings while rest of the seats only buckle detection is enough.
Government idea is to make seat belt regulations similar to EUROPEAN standards especially UNECE regulations on seat belts.
Usually manufactures implement occupant detection on all seats to avoid noise like these and provide better integrity for the additional airbags. But what suzuki did is an interesting idea. They did not place a passenger detection sensor for those seats. Instead they implemented a software based warning logic. If the seat belt is not connected, an alarm will sound for 60 seconds and then turns off. Suzuki wants to save some bucks! by avoiding extra electronics.

Mr. Baiju, Please do an awareness video on how to test drive a Showroom demo car out on highways safely. Yesterday on Palakkad - Ottapalam state highway, I happened to see a middle-aged person rashly testing VW Taigun GT White (Demo car) risking his and other innocent drivers' life in danger. He was taking the reverse and was going back and forth where the speed of the lane is written as 80 km in the middle of the road. I came to know it was a test drive when a customer got down in the middle and bent on his knees and was checking something. god knows. I have got the visuals of the same and will file a case against that particular person.

The vehicle doesn't come with weight sensor under the seats, it just has speed sensor. Thus, when the speed crosses 20, it starts beeping whether the seats are loaded with passengers or not.

Rear Seatbelt warning is due to absence of load sensors in rear seat. Same is there in my friends ZS EV, Simply put, rear seatbelt should be buckled in always.

Jimny will surely give a tough competition to Thar... I too have seen it in Ettumanoor. I was shocked to see the length. I thought it would be more than 4 Mts in length but as u said it's just above the size of ignis. Moreover the look is good. Tyre size is thin. It's a good boxie SUV...

Two step adjustment of rear seat backrest available. weight detect sensor is not provided in the rear seat, so it won't detect if a passenger is not there. So the seat belt alarm will be triggered. It's a part of cost cutting 😊😊 seat belt should be locked even if there's no passenger to avoid the alarm
Costs a ridiculous 19.5 lakh on road and still cannot provide weight sensors.

About the Seat Belt Reminder Chime : Thats not due to any Fault in the System.Rear Seat Belts will provide Additional Safety to Rear Seat Occupants during a Collision/Accident.So the system is provided for reminding the passengers to wear the seat belt. But the Problem is that No Occupant Detection Sensors has been provided in the rear seats to cut down the cost.Whereas Front Passenger seats have this Sensor.So there will be no Reminder Chime operating while Front Passenger Seat is vaccant,but the case is different with Rear Seats.We have to buckle the Rear Seat Belt always to deactivate the Chime irrespective of Passenger occupancy.
Regarding seat belt reminder, it is indeed a safety feature.
After the tragic death of Cyrus Mistri, Govt india directed all the manufactures to bring seat belt reminder on all seats. Front seat regulations are mandatory with occupant detection systems with 3 level warnings while rest of the seats only buckle detection is enough.
Government idea is to make seat belt regulations similar to EUROPEAN standards especially UNECE regulations on seat belts.
Usually manufactures implement occupant detection on all seats to avoid noise like these and provide better integrity for the additional airbags. But what suzuki did is an interesting idea. They did not place a passenger detection sensor for those seats. Instead they implemented a software based warning logic. If the seat belt is not connected, an alarm will sound for 60 seconds and then turns off. Suzuki wants to save some bucks! by avoiding extra electronics.

I went to check this and later was planning for a test drive. Being near to 6 ft and fat, i disliked the thin seats and lack of vertical seat height adjustment. Sat at rear seat but dont have space to move legs. Decided not to go for test drive this but plans to test drive grand vitara.

@3:15 - In my opinion, since you already own other 4 door cars and this Jimny is a hobby/enthusiast car, I think it being a 2 door would have been okay like a Thar.
With growing traffic in all cities, people should be more accepting to use a 2 door car. You being an automobile journalist should promote it. For going with family other 4 door car can be used.
But in india community will not promote 3 door …it will affect companys profit
