My Nintendo switch wasn’t turning on the other day, but after doing this and charging it I was actually able to fix it, so if your Nintendo switch isn’t charging or turning on I would highly recommend it!!

That’s not even the only problem the switch has, I have this problem but I also have the joycon drift problem and I’m probably gonna have to send it off. There are so many bugs and problems with the switch that it’s even sickening to me that these problems could affect my switch in the future. The new Pokémon Sword and Shield expansion pass 1 is coming out really soon and I don’t want to miss out on it.
@@samkelly5045 I got my switch back in november of 2017, and about 1 1/2 years in I got joycon drift too. The only thing you can really do about it is replace the joystick or buy a new pair. If u have a switch light your out of luck though...
It's like a me mechanic making sure you keep coming back to give them money. It's how they make more money.
@@ryanp.4664 As someone who owns both kinds of switches, the Switch Lite hasn't drifted yet, and I've had it for almost a year. I just clean out the mess from below the joystick.

This literally worked for me. I went on vacation for two weeks, I come back to play on it and it wouldn't charge. I tried plugging it into new outlets but it still wouldn't charge. I even went out and bought a new charger. But as soon as I did this, the charging icon came up. Thank you!!

Judging by the comments, this seems to happen alot.
Nintendo is usually known for their robust consoles and handhelds.
I mean, damn my launch ps vita is nearing 8 years old, and besides a loss in battery power capacity its stilk faithful as ever.
I will bring this up to you, there is a reason why it's happening alot with these versions of the Switches, it's a very long long story but I will give a short story for now, Nintendo needed to satisfy there shareholders in 2014 cause Wii U was failing miserably, so Iwata promised at a January meeting that the system would combine handheld and console and it would be different versions of the same systems, funny thing is he was desperate to get an answer out, so it was a bunch of PR to satisfy them.
Truth be told the Switch as it is now was not what it was originally going to be, rumors of development systems back in 2015 was that it was a more powerful 3DS that had to be connected to a more powerful Wii U.
The Nintendo switch only became what it is now at the last minute in 2016, when Nvidia cancelled there Nvidia Shield 2 handheld and they made a deal with Nintendo for Nintendo to use it in there upcoming device, thus the Nintendo switch, Shield 2 was gonna use the same chips that Switch has in it, same system basically.
It's just the switch is modified to Nintendos standards.
Forget about short story, that's the long story.
Love my switch except for the charging issues, that's the worst cause sometimes my switch is charged and won't come on.
@the phillster harrisit is durable but not like previous Nintendo handhelds but that's cause of the fact that Nintendo and Nvidia did the deal at the last minute, it's very convoluted but Nintendo is not using the correct USB C protocol, so they were cheap with the first models, they probably fixed it with the Lite.
I mean considering the amount of people who bought the switch this is a very low amount of people
@@gravity2986 technically it has only affected the launch models, I would know as I have one but again Nintendo is under new leadership than back in the 3ds era.
I have almost every Nintendo console. From the original, gameboy, sp, game cube... Everything works like it did the first day I bought it. This is the only product I've had by then with issues.
Thanks so much! I echo everything everyone else said already :) Very helpful! I will add that if your console is on the screen with the little charging symbol in the upper left corner, to make sure you turn off your console completely before charging. Just hold down the power button for like 20-30 seconds until the screen goes dead black. Mine didn't charge at all until I did this.

That worked for me by pressing and holding the power button down like you mentioned then I turned it off under power options.

I had the same thing and what fixed it for me was holding the off button for 15 seconds straight with the joycons out. Hope this helps

I was pissed off and on the verge of tears, i went to my room. On my way my mom said to me “ what are you going to do? Go to your room and cry because your switch is broken?” In a teasing voice.
