Something about this is so pleasant. Makes me smile, lack of pretension and bragging. He seems kind of like he amazed himself to actually review what he's built and show it to people. Thanks Fact for doing these.
Hell yeah, John Kuker took me under his wing over 20 years ago cuz that's just the kinda guy he was. Selflessly taught me so much & always generous with his time. Biggest break I've ever gotten looking back on it. I try and carry that legacy on -any chance I get with other young engineers or just friends who need a hand. R.I.P. John Kuker. The world lost a magical human being.
Indeed. Was psyched to hear you give him a shout out- I didn't even know you knew him. Shout out to all Kuker's bastard children keeping his legacy alive. Keep makin' killer tracks my man, you're killin it!
Great videos, love his studio and now, him aswell. But seriously, I wanted to relax and listen to someone geek out about his equipment, and instead it felt like im being chased by daleks. Music was aaaaaall wrong
Great studio... He says all of his synths are "basically" going directly to the mixing console. And then he says everything is normaled from the Apogee to the console via the patch bay... Can someone explain that signal chain, Im a little confused... Do the synths go direct into the board or the patch bay first? Or into the apogee first. or both... :)
probably they go to the patchbay which is hardwired with the console inputs. from there then via direct outs or insert's (if possibly post fader & eq) back to the patchbay (or directly) to the apogee, which then send's the single channels to the corresponding (virtual console setup) channels within ableton. and if he has got a inline console they go right back to the consoles's inline/monitor channels (via the single outputs of the apogee) so he can hear the final sound (what he recordeds is what he listen too) best way to work imo
Anyone help with this, Nick maybe? .. Is he sending the console into the patchbay and then the patchbay into the Symphony? Trying to get a similar setup .. a bit stumped on routing. Cheers
A channel about sounds and music can't fucking get the audio right from this video, and on top of that even adds some weird ass background music to just make things even harder to hear. C'mon ffs...
you'll save that in maintenance costs tho. Leaving an analog desk on all the time drastically increases your time between maintenance. Recapping one of these is expensive af.
Pretty funny that a video about music and sound production has one the worst audio mixing ever heard lmao You can barely hear nick talking at times because the background music is so loud
Fucking awesome studio, never knew Bruce Willis was so into music
hahaha damn cant unsee
***** wut forreal
+J3r3m1ah hes pretty damn good
lol
and smoked sooo much shit 🙄
found nick hook through beat the clock and loved his style. going through his studio just made me appreciate him that much more

I love interviews of guys that ive never heard of
Just spoke to this man at a festival last weekend, he is a really friendly guy. Big up Nick Hook.
Amazing setup.. workflow looks like a dream. definitely something to aspire to
That is a mad setup and dude has the right idea with having everything ready to go at all hours. Thanks for sharing ;-)
Awesome stuff. Amazing spirit, authentic life and sincerity from this dude.
Love that studio man, something with character
I want infinitely more content from this man

$250 for a Model D? That was a damn steal
Was probably banging the girls too. And whispered in her ear "Your daddy's next..".
Damn! Had a drunken conversation with Nick Hook and Lunice at a Run the Jewels show in Montreal last week! Two chill dudes, and great producers.
WDY word I meant to hit that up!
that fucking roller desk man
why aren't they a thing everywhere?
the one for the computer? it's hard because of power outlets
wowee, beautiful vibes coming from that studio.

very inspiring
This foo fucks with chino moreno and Daryl Palumbo, that's tight
What's the 106 plugin called at 2:48?
Anyone help with this, Nick maybe? .. Is he sending the console into the patchbay and then the patchbay into the Symphony? Trying to get a similar setup .. a bit stumped on routing. Cheers

C'mon ffs...
Btw... I absolutely loved this video! My other comment was just critique
daaaaamn!
very very nice guy :) big up nick hook
what type of console is that?
Looks like a 32 channel mackie 8 bus to me
Neotek Elan II
How do you get all this hooked up to the computer?
Leaving all that shit on 24/7 must be a crazy electric bill
you'll save that in maintenance costs tho. Leaving an analog desk on all the time drastically increases your time between maintenance. Recapping one of these is expensive af.
Background music is so loud it's not in the background.
his hands - whats going on with his hands??
nice one ! what is the mixer ?
Also would like to know...
Neotek Elan
"Run the Jewels" ? any other credits?
that LuckyMe tag
Does anyone have an idea where to get those heavy wooden synth racks. They look rad.
I think his friend made them 1:53
What's thr name of his speakers?
F*cking awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is one guy i would love to hang out and make some magic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW
Does anyone know what kind of console he has?????
Neotek Elan
how does this guy afford or get all this dope shit!?!?!?!??
I sold Cloke to Superman
What's with his hands?
studio monitors ?
I see a pair of Barefoot
whats he on?
more "in the studio"
I fell asleep, its his voice (he cant help it) nice studio lets make some music!
He's got very wobbly arms
side effect of amphetamine abuse, probably a necessity to get the woke time and energy to get a studio like that as a single artist...
action bronson was here
Impressive studio.
5:38 PIXOTE
Did that dude just say 250 bucks for a Model D?!?!
250 for the Model d?!
shot everytime he says uhhh at the start of a sentence
All that weed has really gotten to that dude.
a lots of staff , UNUSED
Gahdam this is super complicated
Am I the only one that thinks he sort of looks like Macklemore?
Pretty funny that a video about music and sound production has one the worst audio mixing ever heard lmao You can barely hear nick talking at times because the background music is so loud
lay off the drugs lol
lay off your judgement, or take another selfie in the mirror, either way
+catalistic he better put some lotion on that belly, cause he just got BURNED
Get on the drugs. Fuckin boss up here
drugs are partially responsible for the studio he has and the music he makes. try them
Turn the god damn background music down.
he looks like my cousin
all the fruity loops plugins in real life
can U imagine being this big of a nerd
this man took too many addy's
Bit too Brooklyn for me :)
all cool but drink less monster or red bull 😂
Very nice studio, but keeping everything on all the time decreases the lifespan of a product.
sci-fi "music" in the background is hella annoying
he might be a good producer, but damn what a show-off
wtf are you talking about..
That's the point of this video fuck.
you guys might be right
nice studio but please if you do drugs or get high do it after please this was really cringy to look at
