***** Lol, do you have ears? You can't hear the difference in this final product? I mean, he had fire at moments, but the final beat, so out of the pocket. No offense, as always, we all swing for the bleachers.
Def one of the most interesting and inspiring one's so far, I love that Nick is a master of any genre from Hip Hop to House and anything in between seamlessly.
im done with this comment section. Every vid a producer shows real creativity and technique and through hardware all the literal noobs who only listen to hip hop have to hate!
+Desmond DJ DDT Travis it's the same song though this version was by Love Sculpture.. Donny Hathaway did a version.. and I know the original from Ray Charles it's one of my favorite songs from Ray
Purposeful, adds more of a human element to the track (even though it is indeed off beat). You can find some similar stuff in old MF DOOM instrumentals.
Ben White I feel you & I'm familiar with that style, 9th does it also from time to time. The only difference (to me lol) is when they do it it still sounds good lol.
i surprisingly enjoyed this crazy shit! His process is different from what i usually see here! Kinda reminded me of an old professor from my aud tech 101 days
He took the sample somewhere unexpected at the end of the day props to him for being a individualist as opposed to doing the expected , jean gray would kill that beat it's not for trap fans , it's the kind that takes a while to grow on you but sticks 👌
Mass Appeal should try to get these producers for Rhythm Roulette : (random order) 1. Flying Lotus 2. Kaytranada 3. Ta-Ku 4. Sango 5. Star Slinger 6. Flamingosis 7. BADBADNOTGOOD 8. Alchemist 9. Sporting Life (Ratking) 10. Myth Syzer 11. Thundercat 12. Clams Casino 13. Yung Gud 14. Lofty305 (would be entertaining) 15. LIL UGLY MANE 16. A-Trak 17. Les Sins (I think Chaz could create something cool) 18. Madbliss Some of my personal favorites, I know I'm missing more producers but I think this list would be a cool selection for this series.
Sango is hella dope. Don't see Clams doin it. Kaytranada would be dope too. BBNG is more of a modern jazz trio, can't see them doing any sampling. Ta-ku may be interesting. Mos def wanna see FlyLo. I'd really LOVE to see Sango on an episode.
Idk though Madlib is notoriously reclusive and secretive. Doesn't do a lot of media appearances/interviews. Trust me though that's my dream RR episode.
I love your channel and most important rhythm roulette since 2011 I have been looking forward to rhythm roulette but I would like to see ALC The Alchemist and black milk again give thanks bless and I am an up and coming producer thanks for the inspiration mass appeal
So much cool machinery! What's the piano with knobs at 3:06 called? I'm not versed on music equipment nomenclature. Very cool dude as well! Great video.
This that lofi latenight chilling vibe, what yall talking about? Thanks to Rhythm Roulette I just discovered Nick Hook and his vibe. Really good series, Nick & Araab def on it!
i'm gone be honest. i look up to music producers like this. this is pretty much how i've always envisioned myself making beats ... analogue equipment with computer software. tweaking the knobs on a mixer to EQ rather than dragging a mouse ... man, listen.
Teeb Seeb..Dude, this is horrible... I don't care if Jesus was on this video.. The chop was lazy and the sequence was way off... This was definitely up there as one of the worst.... STRAIGHT SANITATION!
I want to spend a year in that room just trying out every piece of equipment in there, that place looks fucking crazy.
the sample is super ill... not sure wtf he did with it tho
fr i was hoping for some dope drums. the vibe is cool tho
Lol, he smoked too much weed, that is wtf he did with it.
true, true 😂
Idk, kind of reminds me of of some Nujabes type shit I fux with it
*****
Lol, do you have ears? You can't hear the difference in this final product? I mean, he had fire at moments, but the final beat, so out of the pocket. No offense, as always, we all swing for the bleachers.
So happy to see all of those analog synths in a Rhythm Roulette vid, nice change of pace.
Ohhhh ma dayyys and the OP-1 :')
Alchemist.
Alchemist.
Alchemist.
Get Alchemist.
He's too busy eating and traveling the world.
traveling the stars**
+ justin wilson stop
alchemist is eating the world? :o
THEINFAMOUS1011 yes
Def one of the most interesting and inspiring one's so far, I love that Nick is a master of any genre from Hip Hop to House and anything in between seamlessly.
Rhythm Roulette is the best thing on RUclips.
Seriously these rhythm roulettes have changed how I make music. Thank you so much mass appeal!
sample at 2:30 is Lisa's Love by Ronnie Foster. Don't thank me, I did it for the culture
thank u culture :)
I was looking for this comment. Thank you.
Thanks mate!
nice to see someone use the console as something more than a laptop stand lmao
Never heard of this dude but he made it look too damn easy
It's gonna be hard to be Astro Elliot... I'm still on the fact of how easy he made it look. Ableton needs him for marketing for sure!
I meant Stro
prettdboy dead ass homie
I love his vibe as a person. He seems like rehab saved his life.
since when is toby from the office makin beats
With el p voice
im done with this comment section. Every vid a producer shows real creativity and technique and through hardware all the literal noobs who only listen to hip hop have to hate!
The dude who made that cold beat for "old english" 👏
studio Setup is amazing bro 🙏🏾 🙌🏾
Haven't seen too many guys in this series go for 45's. Nice one!
literally checked the channel 10 minutes ago for a new rhythm roulette, went and grabbed a snack and came back to this!
This guy did an against the clock and a rhythm roulette in the same week. Damn son.
outside the box bro I love that nick hook
I was just at A-1 two weeks ago with my kid sister. Now she wants to learn how to sample lol
help her pursue the arts! Please!
When that Old English Beat Dropped!
Oh My!!!!
Such a banger
if MA dont release all these nuggets as an LP one day they are missing a marketing goldmine. GETERDUN!
No way they could afford the clearance, so many massive sample sources.
Like they're ever going to be able to clear all those samples
this is a fair point. but don't know if you need clearance to put something out for free? the exposure for a great beat tape totally worth it if so.
though I'm guessing you do need clearance. which would explain why they never play the whole end product on the video
not if they put it out for free
madman bruv! that studio has more tools than a mechanic shop.
Mass Appeal start a Gofundme for Preemo to do a Rhythm Roulette...
2:11 sounds like the sample from Nate Dogg "I Got Love"
I peeped
I just remembered the sample is a Donny Hathaway song though...Nate Dogg's song.
+Desmond DJ DDT Travis it's the same song though this version was by Love Sculpture.. Donny Hathaway did a version.. and I know the original from Ray Charles it's one of my favorite songs from Ray
Bam Marzelli You're absolutely right.
ruclips.net/video/e3GPNqrsWMo/видео.html
I like the sample but the beat seems off as fuck near the end of the loop. Maybe it's me. Sounds like he just started making beats lol.
Purposeful, adds more of a human element to the track (even though it is indeed off beat). You can find some similar stuff in old MF DOOM instrumentals.

Lol, if you can't tell the difference between quality and burnt out.
It's called swing.
jbaby007
Lol, no it is not.
it was cool to see him using the op 1
i surprisingly enjoyed this crazy shit! His process is different from what i usually see here! Kinda reminded me of an old professor from my aud tech 101 days
grabbing records off the damn display wall should be considered cheating...
How can one ruin such a fine sample? :D
For real. How many times do we have to tell you to get the fuckin Alchemist on this shit,
he's too busy watching ancient aliens
I appreciate the effort and passion you put into it.
The view out that window is amazing, holy shit.
woah, so cool to see Nick Hook. I used to see him always doing the tech at shows around NYC
He took the sample somewhere unexpected at the end of the day props to him for being a individualist as opposed to doing the expected , jean gray would kill that beat it's not for trap fans , it's the kind that takes a while to grow on you but sticks 👌
Appreciate his process, and the creativity...

Some of my personal favorites, I know I'm missing more producers but I think this list would be a cool selection for this series.
Cj Treasure Badbadnotgood is a band. They got some live videos kicking around. Talented dudes.
poshgod would be sick also
Sporting Life has been done
Sango is hella dope. Don't see Clams doin it. Kaytranada would be dope too. BBNG is more of a modern jazz trio, can't see them doing any sampling. Ta-ku may be interesting. Mos def wanna see FlyLo. I'd really LOVE to see Sango on an episode.
probably one of the best of this series...
I think people just always expect this boom bap style beat -- but this one was super impressive, feels Four Tet ish a bit
this is a bit different and very necessary! love it..
Love this guys vibe!
dope setup!
It was cool I liked how he did it the old school way
Years of Listening to Iman Omari, 9th Wonder, Knxwledge and training my ears, I was able to find the beat, pay attention to it
thanks again mass appeal for giving me inspiration! this really helps me making beats!
Get Hit-Boy to do rhythm roulette
WTF did I just watch? I'm completely lost. Did I miss out on what he created?
You proved you can get anyone when you got hake one,so stop wasting everybody's time and get madlib......please
Idk though Madlib is notoriously reclusive and secretive. Doesn't do a lot of media appearances/interviews. Trust me though that's my dream RR episode.
wtf is hake one?
Richer p Sickert. IM ASSUMING HE'S TALKI ABOUT JAKE ONE
Ybthadreadhead oh OK...I didn't see how he spelled that wrong....hell my autocorrect kept changing it lol
PETE they can just bribe Lord quas to get it done!
that was different and dope
I love your channel and most important rhythm roulette since 2011 I have been looking forward to rhythm roulette but I would like to see ALC The Alchemist and black milk again give thanks bless and I am an up and coming producer thanks for the inspiration mass appeal
This guy is good enough at synthing to build mods.
This made me happy af I started googling apartments in east village $5500 a month love the instruments oh boy
MADLIB
or
TUAMIE
or
RZA
Do it, Mass Appeal.Do it!
i dont think madlib will ever do it because he need to be in a zone chilling . He dont like being watch
exactly.
RZA doesn't sample no more and you're more likely to get FlyLo then Madlib on this
this is precisely why he need to do it
i got love!!
Damn NICK back at it again with the dope shit!
That kind of hook is made to kill softly. Wonderful
So much cool machinery! What's the piano with knobs at 3:06 called? I'm not versed on music equipment nomenclature. Very cool dude as well! Great video.
MiniMoog Model D
nice shirt... family values tour 1999
I'm usually not one to hate... But all the equipment, and all those dope samples, and he makes this?! That beat was legit garbage!
Word !!!
This dudes a mad scientist
Get Wun Two for RR!
rr to cheap to fly al the way out to germany
lol
this guy picked the best selection from.all the other vids I seen here
This that lofi latenight chilling vibe, what yall talking about? Thanks to Rhythm Roulette I just discovered Nick Hook and his vibe.
Really good series, Nick & Araab def on it!
THIS GUY IS A FUCKING GENIUS OMG
is that sarcasm?
You guys have to set up the links to these beats that they make because not every producer posts it
I need to be on one of these some day 🤘🏽
I fuck with Nick Hook only guy to show up on Rhythm Roulette and Against the Clock and hold it down. Respect.
Is this gear all his? Goddamn
Great work. Lol your studio is like all my fruityloops plugin in real. Damn, you got some real stuff !
Everybody wants The Alchemist on Rhythm Roulette but nobody talks about Madlib, he should be on rhythm roulette.
one of the more creative rhythm roulette I've seen... hes a beast with the hardware
The Ronnie Foster lp is 🔥🔥🔥
Ahman, he was sitting on fire, and then smoked too much weed. That's a first, I'm sure.
i'm gone be honest. i look up to music producers like this. this is pretty much how i've always envisioned myself making beats ... analogue equipment with computer software. tweaking the knobs on a mixer to EQ rather than dragging a mouse ... man, listen.
was that i got love or what at 2:11
Hmmm... different. Cool.
Idk what y'all are talking about, minus the obscure drums this was a fire beat
sounds like a beat action bronson would be rapping over and listing off food to us lol
Did they lose at cards to the Mob or something?
Geeeeeez what a studio :o
Dope but.....with the Mad Scientist lab with all the rack mounts and crazy keys i kinda expected some inferno.
Check his against the clock video, hes actually really dope
That synthesizer is fucking sick, y'all should get Kev Brown or M-Phazes on this
he struck some gold
yo this sound smooth AF
notification squad
He made a beat that never drops, this was bad. Sorry nick!
did you listen to the full beat somewhere?
hundydoe yea I did, this video!
Teeb Seeb..Dude, this is horrible... I don't care if Jesus was on this video.. The chop was lazy and the sequence was way off... This was definitely up there as one of the worst.... STRAIGHT SANITATION!
so dope in this one
yo these are great but I wanna know why you dont color grade your footage?
yo nick hook is everywhere right now
Great job!
this was not a good showing
Unconventional I liked it...
"it looks like some dudes who are probably on acid, wich I can relate to very well" haha im dead
i like his studio thoooo
Dope to see all the equipment being used but the final product was lackluster.
2:10
Isn't it the sample from Nate Dogg's I got love?
Who else spotted that sen4 tag in the beginning
2:33 god damn
Nick you owe me a drink boi :D
What is that orange unit in his rack system? That's fire
it's by this guy that died it's like a distortion thing . look up his studio setup on RUclips . it came out this week.
Evol Audio Fucifier. A super-expensive badass distortion unit that I don't think is being made anymore.
