Herbs is best option. Addict person should not been prescribed 3 kinds of valium. Medicines can cause death, create complication, when alcohol & other medicines are taken, it may cause the heart to stop beating. My dad passed away at 48yo, addict of medicines, he had taken at least 6 medicines a day, one of those is a valium. My sister passed away at 41, dependent to medicines. Her doctor prescribed her new medicine w/o knowing that she also take an old medicines, she've got heart enlargement.
Exactly Dr. Drew. An addict, really, any addict, MUST stay away from substances. We with addiction issues must stay away from any item that provides us an unhealthy way of escaping facing life. Yes indeed we have such a major problem here with perscriptions...we have lost so many great talents to show how great the problem is.Yes, It is definitely a huge issue not with stars but with people that our friends, neighbors, families and the people that sit beside us on the train know. The RED ALERT sounds off so much louder when a super star passes away from such a large social issue that it must influence others to open their eyes and take preventative action.

No reason in the world for someone to be on three different benzodiazepines? Let me try: Xanax (alprazolam) - short acting and less sedating making it easier to use for an anxiety disorder during the day Klonopin (clonazepam) - a sleeping pill that lasts long enough to keep someone asleep throughout the night, also useful for seizures Ativan (lorazepam) - longer acting than Xanax with no liver metabolism making it ideal for detoxifying from alcohol Plenty of reasons a person might be on three.
@ulikedit I was more thinking of Dr. Drew's coment to Sanjay Gupta that he knows of no psychiatric conditions where someone might be prescribed all three medications. We don't know she was taking all three (how many old pill bottles do you have in your house that you're not using?). But in certain cases these medicines can be used in addiction with close monitoring, typically not in active addiction unless you're doing detox though.

Showbusiness unfortunately, demands so much of artits, whether they be singers or musicians , because of these heavy contracts that the artist must respect that sooner or later , their health takes a hard hit.. they are asked to do so many shows on the road that they are overought with tiredness. so they take something to keep them going and often these contracts include that the artist can have any type of drugs.. Shame on the music business... Once an artist signs a contract with these huge music companies , they sign away there freedom and they can't get out of it because of the clauses which state the huge costs the artist will have to pay .. and so some of them end this infernal cycle , the only way they can.. which is SUICIDE.

she had xanax, and flexeril in her system....she didnt need to doctor shop the amounts of drugs that she had was easy for even the average person to get. As far as having several different benzos in her system, i.e., lorazepam, xanax and valium, i would say its either she had old meds on hand or she got it off the street. I remember them saying that the muscle relaxer called Flexeril was one of the more prominent medications in her system but that compound is easy to get and even long term. Soma is the big brother to Flexeril which is almost impossible to get now due to dependence , overdose and addiction issues. I don't think she had a lot of anything in her system except for cocaine which likely caused an arrythmia or possible seizure in combination with the flexeril and miscellaneous benzos.

Being on these drugs he still managed to take care of a wife and 2 kids and open and run a candy store and have a carpentry business.

Denyse Aita Its horrible stuff. I took 1mg of ativan daily for two weeks as a sleep aide. When I stopped the withdrawal was just terrible. Benzos are hell fire!
When you are giving these warnings I one step closer to death - I understand you know the dangers and are tryin to help - is there anyway you can show awareness that you can die of withdraw for those of us wo insurance - but then again I have yet to talk to anyone or heard of yet anywhere on the net Where I live that comes close to the amount
Why always the fact of prescription drugs. I have rheumatoid arithrtis, & degenerative of the spine. I have chronic back pain every day. I exercise eat probably normal weight. I don’t drink. I take pain killers & it makes me able to function. These dr’s who speak about dr’s providing scripts makes me angry. There were days I didn’t want to live, & who are these dr’s to say whose prescribing pain killers. I’m not an addict I’m a person suffering & need a tablet to stop the suffering. Why not look at the younger generation who smoke pot, use cocaine, heroin, fetanyl, crack, ice & party drugs. Not to mention the easiest thing to buy alchohol, & cigarettes. Take a look at everything & you notice that the battle on drugs will never be won. Perhaps adopt a system like Portugal, & more attention on people who are in constant pain. I would die sooner from the pain than for taking a drug to give me relief & live a normal life.
Nancy Grace needs to focus more on relaxing her frozen facial muscles, fixing her dead split ends, bleach damaged, over processed hair, and over plucked eye brows; before making damaging comments just for the sake of hearing her own self talk.
