A tutorial I think a ton of modelers would love is how to load sound files on a new blank decoder. You have a great way of simplifying processes and think a lot of people would benefit from it. Thanks for taking the time for us all.
Hello josh! Three things, number one your video is great I am working on a model my self and this will help a lot. Second would you mind doing a tutorial on custom sounds for esu decoders because I would love to get some great sound files I have onto a locomotive. Third, can you also do a video on installing dcc in a older Athearn locomotive, I know you like the newer locomotives but I think have extra help from you would be better than trying to do it myself. I know this was a lot but keep up the great work!
older athearn locomotives use an 8/9 pin harness so a tsu-2200 or esu 58420 would make ideal drop in replacements…i’m one to rip the bulbs and replace them with leds though. custom esu sound tutorials exist like one from scl3618
@@nsmodeler24 what's tinning them? I'm doing a Athearn Genesis SD60E next week with a soundtraxx decoder and scale sounds speakers (2 of them). I've ordered the decoder and speakers already. Do I need a wiring harness or wires? Also, will I need resistors for the leds already on the loco? It's a soundtraxx TSU-21PNEM8.
Would be interesting how you Programm all the speeds etc. that you can run double/triple etc tractions without the trains pushing or pulling each other
Im trying to model ns diesels and I want to put loksound into genesis models as well. Are the dcc ready models set up to have flashing ditch lights or does that have to be programmed or wired?
+NSmodeler24, I have a question related to stripping paint from a model. I am going to put a CSX boxcar logo paint job/decals (tan colored paint and black CSX lettering) on an HO Scale covered hopper that is currently painted gray with an ADM logo and reporting marks on it. To repaint the model, should I paint over what is already on there or strip the original paint from it?
This is very helpful and makes it much easier to figure out how to install these decoders and speakers. Thanks for sharing! What impedance and wattage do you recommend for these esu decoders?
Hey Josh, I've got the (MTH-HO Scale) 80-2026-0 CN/Canadian National (SD70M-2) Road #: 8000 DCC-Ready/Non-Sound. I'm working on doing a complete body swap to a NS-SD70ACe body and also want to put DCC Sound decoder in it too. I was wondering if u could lend me a hand on finding a full decorated NS SD70ACe, options on DCC Sound Decoders, speaker, custom led lights, and also Decoders I can upload custom sounds, etc. Any help or options that u could give me for this project?
Thank you so much for this I've been thinking about converting my Locomotives to DCC with me having the 3 Locomotives with DCC this really was something I needed

There’s definitely an option to have your dealer preload the sound files for you if you don’t want to invest in the Lokprogrammer hardware
Agreed. I just got into Loksound and wanna figure out what the best option is for making and loading custom sfx
Agreed

Easy DCC is a brand name of one of the c orginal DCC systems. Nothing easy about it. Basicly out of business but there are still people using it.
Nice Video Josh, and the last car
shown in the video was a Conrail
Auto rack, AWESOME!!!!
Quick question- why didn’t you tin the speaker wires before soldering them on? That might help prevent them from breaking in the future
The had flux on them and that did the same thing, but yes, tinning them first would make a quicker and easier solder!

Is there a video on installing loksound decoders and the scale sounds system speakers without soldering on scaletrains gevos?
I have a question but how do you fix light bleed through on number boards because it is really annoying
What is the name of that decoder and will it work in a scaletrains es44ac locomotive?
What does it mean "if the decoder already has lights installed..."? If I don't have a light decoder my lights will no longer work?

This is super Helpful! Thank you and awesome video!
Did you have any issues with the flashing ditch lights?

Sometimes I wish N scale was that easy.....Great install Josh, clean and easy. Bob
Thanks Bob!

For the speaker, I usually use 8ohm. All the scale sound system speakers Ive been using recently are made to work with the ESU decoders.
@@nsmodeler24 Sweet! Thank you for the info. I'm switching to esu and I'm not used to these decoders. Thanks for sharing!

Are SD70ACU' locomotives already equipped with DCC when you buy them?
DCC has come a long way. Great to see the locomotive mfg's and 3rd party suppliers making it easy to upgrade or choose a specific sound decoder.
Can you make video on how you got to this point? As in how you got all those train and was successful? edit: I can’t word this better.
Josh I like ur NS SD70ACU locomotive
You should do a update video on your Locomotive Roster. You seem to have gotten so much h since then

Great info. Beautiful engine. Thanks for sharing. Dave
You should get a Nickle plate Road Heritage unit
Awesome job, and thanks for the tutorial!👍👍
Super helpful thank you! Isaiah 53:5
Sehr interessantes und gutes Tutorial. Thanks, Toni
Excited for another awesome tutorial
Did you add the custom sounds to the decoder prior to installing?
I added the custom sounds after installing! I will cover those in a future video!
@@nsmodeler24 ok, thank you.
Awesome job as always Josh!
Thanks josh.
Nice details of the layout
Excellent
nice
Great info 👍
Cool.
Can this process be the same for steam locomotives?
If a steam engine has an 8, 9, or 21 pin plug, yes!
@@nsmodeler24 So it could potentially work for some old MTH steam locomotives?
