"He loved not in return, for he was never loved, but nevertheless, love it he did."
That ost is amazing, it shows Morgott's desperation, the fear of losing the only thing he loves, and he puts everything on this fight, to the point that he uses the power of the curse that he hates the most to stop you. he despises himself, he hates what he is, but all I see is a brave, tenacious warrior who carried entire Leyndell and protected the Erdtree even if he was a "graceless cursed creature". Maybe I'm exaggerating but I had to dedicate this to the hated but powerful, Omen King

Makes more messed up when you read the talismans about the crucible and it nodding to the idea that Morgott during its time would've been seen as beautiful instead. Someone even painted an idea that because hes a royal and possibly had the potential of wings like Mohg he cut them off because he couldnt bare to look akin to them (instead of it just being the horns like what was normally done to noble omens)

"The Throne STAINED by my curse, such shame I cannot bare.", you can hear the absolute self-loathing in his almost quivering voice, how in a different setting, he would've been brought to tears at how far away from his beloved Erdtree he is. But you can hear, in real time, over his next two lines "Thy part in this, shall not be forgiven" of him steeling his resolve. The first half, you can hear his anger, as he mentally shifts the blame away from what he is to you for making him have to embrace it, and then in the 2nd half of the sentence his resolution has solidified, whatever he may feel, you are the greatest threat to all he holds dear, and he must be focused on taking you down without a thought for anything else.

  • @AzraelSoulHunter
    @AzraelSoulHunter Год назад +252

Morgott is an EXTREMELY tragic character. The saddest part about Morgott is that he was legitimately blessed. Omen curse is no curse. It's a blessing of the Crucible which was later seen as a curse due to Golden Order. He may as well have been the most holy of all Demigods, but he was punished for it by being left for a time in the sewers and he hated HIMSELF for it. That is until he was released, most likely by the time Giants were still a threat since Godfrey knew him and he was banished after he beat the Giants and other enemies of Erd Tree. He also uses a Giant Crusher. A weapon that fell out of use after War with the Giants. A GREAT way to hide little story details, in Boss's moveset itself.
And the part with Godfrey is even more sad when you realize that Golden Godfrey we fight before him is most likely created BY Morgott. It's possible that Morgott created that apparition because he wanted the help of his father, he wanted his father to be there and become Elden Lord, evident by him placing his crown on the throne in the trailer.
In his remembrance (japanese version) it's said that he didn't need anyone else's love to love in return. He just loved. He loved others matter what. And there most likely were people that did love him. One of them was Godfrey, but the other may have been his brother Godwyn... who was killed at the Night of the Black Knives. He tried to be a protector, he created Black Cavalry who we see in the trailer and may have been sent by him to hunt down the assassins (who also can be seen protecting the carriage with Malenia's Master's sword that goes to Haligtree), he created Sentry's Torches to protect his other siblings from Godwyn's fate, and yet... they all betrayed him and destroyed everything he loved and even then when he shows up in the throne room and calls his siblings traitors he still seems to have some actual care for them after all of that (calling Godrick by his title, being nostalgic with Malenia and Miquella, respectful for Radahn and mournful for Ranni) and he still felt great shame after staining their thrones meaning that he truly cared for them (outside of Rykard who may have taken more public role in killing Godwyn as part of his deal with Ranni which could have been start of his Blasphemy).
Morgott was a good person that was betrayed by almost everyone around him. By his family that started destroying their life and breaking their world, by the Erdtree which wouldn't accept him due to his "curse" and by Golden Order which indoctrinated him into hating what he was blessed with.
Morgott is probably one of the saddest characters in the game, if not THE saddest. A bitter person who has nothing, but hatred for himself and his family and the only thing he cares about is the thing that made his life miserable in the first place. And the only people that loved him are either dead (Godwyn who given that he befriended Dragons most likely cared little about curse on Morgott) or he never got to meet again after longing to see them again (Godfrey).
At the end when we fight him he is legitimately left with nothing, but the crumbling city and his duty which is built on lies of the Greater Will.
Pray for Morgott The Omen King, The Grace-Given. The True King of Leyndell and only worthy successor of Godfrey. A true heir. The only Demigod left that is worthy of being called Golden. Morgott the Golden Omen.

He was one of the few people who was defending the old order, not ideal, but working. With all his fanatism, his self-loathing, he was making The Land between a bit better place for living.

I had my DnD players fight a homebrew of him and for some reason his lines always make me choke up a bit. I almost weep for him, imagining myself in his place, dealing with the unbearable shame, the torture, the loneliness, hated so much and yet so much is expected of him. And he still rises to the challenge. Not out of duty, not to be a tyrant, but out of love. Not to mention that omens suffer from endless nightmares in their sleep to the point where they cannot rest, even when they are not being actively persecuted they are being being tormented by demonic faces in their dreams. Man needs a hug.

morgotts slept on simply because its cannon on how separated he is from the lore, as an omen he's shunned by society and none of his actions and accomplishments in life are reccognized.
before the elden ring was shattered and the demi gods gained their respective shards... morgott thwarted single handedly defeated a younger radahn, and in the 2nd defense of lyndell he and quote "stacks high the corpses of heros, yet the erdtree remains unshaken." he's born of the 2 strongest beings of the golden order and certainly does not lag behind in his strength and power, he's able to project perfect images of himself through the lands between, has a powerful enough connection to godfrey to make a phantom of him in lyndell capital... these are things we've only seen ranni do, and some erdtree avatars, and it shows he's capable of much more than just swinging a sword and summoning golden weapons

Morgott has gotta be one of the saddest and most tragic characters I've ever seen in any media. He was born the son of a god, but was thrown away for his demonic visage, a curse, a deformity that he had no control over. He was hated simply because he was different, hated because of a misconception. In ancient times omen were seen as blessed and holy, yet his own mother instilled the idea that they are freaks fit only to serve or die.
He spent his childhood locked in a sewer, all alone, hunted by the omenkillers, never knowing what love was, because in his eyes nobody loved or cared about him, why should they? He's a mistake, an abomination, nothing else.
He had to witness his whole family crumble, driven mad by their lust for power, and in the end he alone stood up to defend the Golden Order, the same order that shunned and cursed him. Not because he thought it was right, not because he wanted the throne, he simply didn't know what else to do with himself, save carry on the will of his mother, in some desperate attempt to justify what was in his own eyes a worthless and unloved existence.
He fought, for years on end, till his dying breath to protect a home that never cared about him, a family that never loved him, and even in his final moments still considered himself nothing but a unworthy failure.
A true paragon of loyalty, a true king who put the safety of his homeland above everything else, even himself. Most would say he was an accursed monster, yet he was the most holy of demigods, the most deserving of the title Elden Lord. One could only imagine the great man he could've been, had fate been kinder

Ya know,If we're not in this game's universe...
Morgott would the REAL protagonist of this entire story and the rightful owner of the Elden Ring let alone being an Elden Lord...Heck it's literally in his blood.
Think about it.while everyone fights for the throne and lust for power.Morgott put the throne above himself and defends it and the erdtree with everything he got while still knows and fully accepts the fact that he doesn't deserve nor fit to be the elden lord,All purely because he loath himself being an omen and never has experienced love while his home has branded him as a abomination, fated to be butchered.
And yet he STILL fought for it,he become a king for the very people he was loathed for and it really makes you think why would go so far.
If anything he would have shared the same fate as his brother but he wanted to prove it wrong and most of all really wanted to follow his father's foot step if not at the very least defend his legacy by prevent others to become an Elden lord
    Until we came.
