Nice work! I have been too nervous to fly much in Kansai lately because of the new rules. I really need to get off my butt and get back out there. Really nice work on the cuts and the music choices.
Yeah, it's kind of a pain. I hadn't seen the new no-fly zones in the Go app, yikes. Lots of places that are now off limits. I mean, I get it, but kind of tough to work around. I'm flying an Inspire, so I still want to get out and get some good shots. Mostly bummed because I didn't get some of those shots before they had the full rules in place :( ah well :)
awesome video, really nice locations! Just be careful with the Japanese laws since dec 2015 : you are not allowed to get closer to buildings (historics, or people property) than 30m. You are very close to the Momoyama castle (but yes, it is a really nice spot to shoot, and theoretically legal). same for cars and people (30m), and you cannot fly over big roads and crowded areas (I think you are OK with this). I have some concerns about the dam too... but nicely done, thanks for those great images!
Miyama village? Yesterday I watched the first movie in the Miyamoto Musashi trilogy by Inagaki, some astonishing similarity between the aerial shot of the village in the movie and this one right one, specially that steep hill at the left. I wonder if they filmed here, would be too much coincidence :O
Nice to see this vid still has legs (or wings) and it's still racking up views. I helped on this shoot! Come back and fly Kyoto again Tyler! www.kyotoursjapan.com
Yes! It's a beautiful little town and there's a great soba restaurant and visiting center too. Not a whole lot going on there generally, but it's great to walk around and see the traditionally build houses.
Thank you! I've been flying RC since I was about 10 years old, but drones since 2011. Yes, it was reversed. I'd even impress myself if I could do that shot without reversing!
Hi there! What drone did you use? Also, I was wondering if you know, is it difficult for solo travellers to fly a drone in Japan (without using any tours)?
Hey there. We used the Phantom 3 Professional for this video as we were traveling and needed a mobile platform. It's not difficult, as long as you stay out of no-fly zones. Best to find the more rural locations with less population.
Looks great! Did you get any grief from the police? I'd like to take my drone out for a spin in Kansai but I'm worried about running afoul of the new regulations
How long did it take to record all of the footage? and during what months was the footage recorded? just curious about how the landscape looks during what months.
+GoRey We filmed those shots before a lot of the rules changed in Japan. It's a bit tougher now, but you can still find which places are flyable on DJI's website.
Thank you! We'd love to be featured on your site! This whole video was actually filmed on a Phantom 3 professional. It's a great turn-key solution when traveling.
this footage is beutiful, I am making a short film about Amy Johnson who was the first woman to fly solo from UK to Japan in 1940's Im wondering if I can be cheeky and borrow a small segment of this footage to put in my film? I am struggling to get hold of footage :( I will credit you and send the finish film so you can enjoy it?
I am going to Japan staying at Tokyo and Osaka specifically. Anyone has the latest news and regulations for flying in these two major cities ow where I can fly in the city?
Great Video! I'll be visiting Japan in a couple of months, and i wanted to bring my phantom with me. You mention that new laws regarding drones have come out in Japan. Could you point me towards more info on this? Maybe a map of where you can or can't fly?
+kaozskyblade Hey man, I'm the guide that showed Awadrone around Kyoto and found all these locations. After spending time with Awadrone, I'm pretty familiar with the no fly areas of Kyoto and the rules and regulations regarding flying drones here. Let me know if you need a guide in Kyoto! www.kyotoursjapan.com
Hey! is it okay if I use some of these drone shots for a video for my friends 18th birthday debut? Im located in Yokosuka, Japan on base and we can't use drones over here.

Nice work! I have been too nervous to fly much in Kansai lately because of the new rules. I really need to get off my butt and get back out there. Really nice work on the cuts and the music choices.
Thanks for the nice comment! Yeah, it's a bit unclear what is and isn't allowed in Japan anymore since the new laws came out.
Yeah, it's kind of a pain. I hadn't seen the new no-fly zones in the Go app, yikes. Lots of places that are now off limits. I mean, I get it, but kind of tough to work around. Breathtakingly beautiful! I was actually thinking of visiting Miyama in march, would you reccomend the place for a day trip?
Yes! It's a beautiful little town and there's a great soba restaurant and visiting center too. Not a whole lot going on there generally, but it's great to walk around and see the traditionally build houses.
+Awa Drone Thanks man, I'll give it a visit! Looking forward to your next videos!
That first shot 👌🏾
I'm heading back there November with my drone in kit, did you have any trouble with authorities using yours there?
sugoi beautiful !
love it
Awesome footage! Is there by chance any possibility to use some of the clips for a project?
Best to email any inquiries to awadrones@gmail.com
Cheers
Where can drones be flown in Nihon?
Beautiful. How long have you been flying? That opening shot was amazing (I'm assuming you reversed the speed to show it backwards).
Thank you! I've been flying RC since I was about 10 years old, but drones since 2011. Yes, it was reversed. I'd even impress myself if I could do that shot without reversing!
Do you have a permit before flying?
Awa Drone do you have a website ?or a map For the no fly zone ?
Looks great! Did you get any grief from the police? I'd like to take my drone out for a spin in Kansai but I'm worried about running afoul of the new regulations
epic!
How long did it take to record all of the footage? and during what months was the footage recorded? just curious about how the landscape looks during what months.
Filmed most of it in early December. Many laws are changing now and it's a bit confusing what is still allowed here.
Gotta find all the loopholes lol.
Wau keren
Hope that Philippines has a city like that but we have slums
Did you have to get special permission to film in some places like the castle? Debating on whether I should bring mine to Kyoto next week
+GoRey We filmed those shots before a lot of the rules changed in Japan. It's a bit tougher now, but you can still find which places are flyable on DJI's website.
Okay good
Excellent videography ! Would like to put link to this on dronesonvideo.com. What rig and configuration were you using to capture this video?
Thank you! We'd love to be featured on your site! This whole video was actually filmed on a Phantom 3 professional. It's a great turn-key solution when traveling.
+Awa Drone Great ! Will post the link when done. Again, great piloting, nice 4k quality, and good video production.
Awa Drone Here is the link to your post : goo.gl/v4ZDsW
Again, great video !
do you need permission from authorities for flying drone even in remote areas or lets say over shrines or sea, like in the video
this footage is beutiful, I am making a short film about Amy Johnson who was the first woman to fly solo from UK to Japan in 1940's Im wondering if I can be cheeky and borrow a small segment of this footage to put in my film? Yes, as long as the video is credited with a link to our channel. PM if you are interested in the original 4k footage.

Just let us know the clips you need.
just the shots of the castle, flying through the doorway/tunnel :)
I am going to Japan staying at Tokyo and Osaka specifically. Anyone has the latest news and regulations for flying in these two major cities ow where I can fly in the city?
+Lam Nguyen Very difficult to fly in major cities. It's completely illegal in Tokyo. You can check DJI's website for the latest no-fly zones in Japan.
Would i be able to use this footage in a video?
Sorry I cannot give permission for this footage. If you'd like to talk more about it, please email me at awadrones@gmail.com
Love this footage - I want to use it in a TV show! can you pm me?!
Hi i want video koyto long shot
I life in japan
天みたいですよ。
Great Video! I'll be visiting Japan in a couple of months, and i wanted to bring my phantom with me. You mention that new laws regarding drones have come out in Japan. Could you point me towards more info on this? Maybe a map of where you can or can't fly?
This map clearly shows where you can and cannot fly. Rural areas outside the cities are generally okay. www.dji.com/flysafe/no-fly

Our Kolkata ( india) look like this
Hey! is it okay if I use some of these drone shots for a video for my friends 18th birthday debut? Im located in Yokosuka, Japan on base and we can't use drones over here.
Sure, will it be posted online? If so, please credit Awa Drone by including a link to our channel. Cheers!
There is still much beauty to be found in Japan!
あれだけ行ったのに伏見城行ってない。これから機会も有るわさ。
Good thing you captured this prior to their new ridiculous rules in 2022
Yes, this was all filmed early 2015.. there were hardly any rules at that time. Kinda sad, I don't fly much any more for fun.. only for work.
ドーロン撮影の許可はどう撮るのか
ダムのところは修正した方がいいな。いっきに京都感なくなる
I LOVE Japan!!! I wish visit it.
