    This RAIN meditation at the end of this talk has helped navigate a lot of recently challenging emotions. Thank you, Tara.

    I grew up in a home where I was not taught how to be happy. In my twenties I was finally put on medication. Recently I was able to be taken off some of my medications as my therapy team was very supportive of my goals. I'm thankful for Buddhist teaching as it helps me out.

      I think we grew up in the same type of house hold! If we were happy it was quickly shut down and we lived in fear. I was only to clean and education was never discussed, either was faith. Thirty years ago I went on my spiritual journey and finally la see here. Oh happy day I found my people, I found myself❤

    Beautiful and insightful, a usual. I just wanted to add a comment about one point when Tara paused and said (around 20:00) something like "Saying yes unconditionally, does that mean saying yes to violence, racism, degradation of our environment...No, it means saying yes to our experience of it". Well, it's also saying yes to what happens, without putting the label 'good' or 'bad'. Not only how we feel about it. Saying yeas means not judging. Understanding. But of course, that doesn't mean that we agree with it. We understand why it happened. What leads to violence, racism, disrespect. And with compassion, we can try to help. In other words, our intellect can say no but our heart should only say yes.

    My anger towards my father kept me perpetuating a myth that made me small. As I mourn the loss of a father who did not exist, I am able to find something in the sadness that makes me feel like a whole person 🎶💔✨

    I appreciate the talks. Wish the volume were louder. I can always adjust down on my listening device, but in this case, I couldn't get the volume up high enough to make it audible over very minimal noise (ceiling fan).

    This lady here from beginning to end has all of these different quotes from different people but where is she herself in all of this? Never mind all of the poets and poetry that she's sprinkling throughout her talks, quoting ubiquitous Buddha sayings or a Sufi or other people's life episodes and on and on. She's borrowing a lot of stuff here. But I really wonder where is she in all of this?

      Very humble

    • @tlicious121
      @tlicious121 5 лет назад +2

      Most of her teachings are derived from other sources -- DBT, Buddhism, etc. What she calls the "fear body," Eckhart Tolle called the "pain body" years earlier. AND I still listen to her teachings because that doesn't make them any less useful.

      Your voice can still be present when you quote other sources..its an academic convention to support your ideas by citing experts in a particular field or discipline. Also..she selects stories and case histories from her own professional experience.
