Most of the struggle with the re-assembly seems to caused by excess pressure from the foam strips. With all that pent up pressure and lack of silicon sleeve I suspect it will self destruct at the first drop. May I suggest you go back in and bevel the foam strips to reduce the assembly force. As for removing the battery, one method I have used in the past is to cut the foam using a sawing action with fishing line to cut trough the DS foam adhesive.
P.S. - Plus it was so nice to have a commentary with your - How To Video - As most Electronics how to videos only play Rubbish Lift Muzzak or NOT Say or text - 8 Screws But One is hidden here - etc ....
The main processor is the little chip, F1C100s by Allwinner near the display ribbon. The big chip is some sort of jungle signal thing, could it be a CPLD or an FPGA? Something to manage and buffer the signals till the application processor gets around to take care of them. "Digital Phosphor" probably refers to software function of fading image trails, rather than anything to do with the display itself. Looks like a basic IPS screen, which is fine, it's good. Unfortunately it's semi custom i think, obviously the display panel is off the shelf, but the shape of the ribbon bonded onto it makes it a custom item.
the digital phosphor technology is not equivalent to what you see on other regular oscilloscopes. It's just that the waveform is not simply yellow, but adds a few other colors. What you see in the pictures in the advertisement cannot be reproduced with it... Even in single shoot mode, the line has more colors... However, apart from a few errors, it is usable. it doesn't have persistence mode, so you can't watch signal density... There were a lot of misinterpretations in the videos I watched, and they weren't properly tested... And instead of fixing the bugs, they release a new look...
I like the look and function of the case upgrade. Does anybody know the link to get just the upgraded case ? I am only finding hundreds of the complete oscilloscopes but no just the upgraded case.
Yeah they are great. The battery charge does not last long but for inspection like this I can highly recommend it. Here is a link if anyone wants to order - you pay the normal price and I get a small commission too www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005913395690.html?af=ler2002
Looks like the new case was an afterthought.😂 The new buttons are a nice touch but no real protection against damage if dropped. Overall, in my opinion, I agree it's not worth the effort or cost to upgrade the housing.
I agree, though I'm a bit more optimistic. I see this as a work in progress. The buttons certainly seem to be an improvement, but the protection both from physical and electrical shocks should be improved upon before this is ready as a proper upgrade. Maybe the next iteration?
I also agree, if I was buying now from new, I can tell you the new buttons feel much nicer to use and at the moment both version appear to be available. However I only do work at the bench, it is extremely rare for me to do work needing a scope onsite. If the opposite was try then the old version seems more durable to me.
Think the casing at the top is not closing because of the foam on the back of the LCD. I'd shave a little off. Not a fan of the chonky styling even if the new buttons have nicer positive action. Maybe the old case can be recut to fit the new buttons? Are they taller?
I think they should have just redone the buttons on the original case to make the buttons larger. That would still retain the silicone outer housing for shockproofing.
I like the rubberized/silicone sleeve on original more than full plastic case from new one. Bigger buttons on new one seem better.
My unit came as the new casing, and I certainly agree that it's great! I like it. The buttons are nice and responsive.

A squirt of ISO to the battery DSS glue will free the glue up and make it less sticky. But it was fun to watch your bruit force attack LOL
Spot of iso reduces the stickiness of those pads😀👍
Thank you for providing such detailed information. 👍

Have the same little torch 🔦 you had at the beginning.. 😊

Thanks, looks good.
Hi - Looks like the old blue housing still had a screen cover in place after you swapped over - Does it also transfer as a protector?
no socket to store screenshot?

@LearnElectronicsRepair yes all in all, it's still a great product.

I got it to close properly by loosening the screws at the bottom. It did take me a little while to figure it out
Add a few drops of Isopropyl alcohol, is will release the sticky pad. :)

I would tend to agree with you, the new one definitely feels nicer to use but the silicone all the way round was a good idea.
Heya, as long as it works why would you ???
