  • Welcome to Victory Amplifiers!
    In this video, Victory Chief Designer, Martin Kidd talks you through the controls on your Sheriff amplifier.
    For full details, spec and stockists of the Sheriff series amplifiers, please visit…
    Sheriff 22: www.victoryamp...
    Sheriff 44: www.victoryamp...
    Thanks to Mick Taylor for the playing duties in this video.
    The amp is mic'd with a Sontronics Delta 2 Ribbon mic on the Victory V212VH 2x12 cabinet (1 x Celestion G12M Greenback and 1 Celestion G12H Anniversary), plus stereo room mics.
    The guitars are a PRS S2 Singlecut Standard and Fender American Vintage ’62 Stratocaster.
    There are no gain pedals used in this video. All the overdrive you hear is from the amp itself.
    There are two pedals in the amp's effects loop…

    • Empress Reverb

    Been playing over 50 years, I’ve never owned an amp I enjoy more than my Sherriff 44 and accompanying cab. You guys really created a masterpiece. Replaced my desire for a JCM 800, and that’s saying a lot for an 80s metal head.

    Great video, i've had my sheriff 44 for about 3 years and i never really understood these things. Especially fixed/cathode bias mode.
    Still got great tones because it's an awesome amp but now i understand everything better.. Keep on keepin on guys, great service and great amps! *5/5

      Actually i've been playing around with just about everything i have, different guitars, pedals and stuff now for about 3 hours. Now my pedalboard is pretty much empty, just a reverb, delay and tuner + the channel switcher, instead of an overdrive. Less wires, less everything, better tone. Great video this.

    Amazing AMP !! I use it in all my live... with 2x12 Creamback the sound is amazing.
    This amp has only one BIG problem, YOU CAN'T BOOST SIGNAL DURING SOLO BECAUSE THE S/R DON'T HAVE HEADROOM
    When the master is Full Open you can hear the headroom, but if you use it with normal volume for small pub or similar, you can't crank the master volume, and the pedal in s/r don't change the volume but only the Tone..
    It is really Strange Things

    • @VictoryAmps
      @VictoryAmps  5 лет назад +6

      Hello Nicola. Part of the Sheriff’s design is that it overdrives the power section to get that cranked amp tone. So no matter where you’re adding boost, if there’s no headroom left... there’s no headroom left, just more overdrive. It’s old school in that respect. The way the old school players do it is to max the amp out for the loudest thing you need, then use the guitar volume (or an underdrive pedal) to come back from there. Cheers!

    • @johnmaloney1988
      @johnmaloney1988 5 лет назад

      @@VictoryAmps would a volume boost be possible if you had a mild crunch set on the amp so running a higher master volume setting and got your rhythm distortion from a pedal rather than the amp then had a clean boost pedal after the pedal? Thanks.

    • @TybudX
      @TybudX 5 лет назад

      @@VictoryAmps You basically made the amp so that instead of having to have it cranked to sound good, it's always in the sweet spot. I have a Sheriff 22, and my neighbours love it! They don't have a choice.

    • @studiosdelcontemixmasterin4443
      @studiosdelcontemixmasterin4443 4 года назад

      johnmaloney1988 with my victory sheriff i use crunch sound but i can’t create and good lead sound with boost or effect because if the master volume stay at 50% it don’t have headroom
      Really strange ... it is really strange master volume control

    Love my V40 deluxe and would really like to have one of these as well. I wish there were separate master volumes for each channel though. Seems like you would have a huge volume difference between a clean channel 1 and over-driven channel 2 right?

      will depend on your Cab really. a 2x12 would suffice, but 1x12 I think you`ll be boxed.

    • @williamlittlefield4749
      @williamlittlefield4749 2 года назад

      I gig on LP mode if I can mic and on HP at about 60% on the Master if I cannot mic. I use the 2x12 matching cab.

    Hi, Guys can the inputs 1 & 2 be switched between with a A/B Box?

    • @VictoryAmps
      @VictoryAmps  2 года назад +1

      Hi Kenny. I'm afraid an A/B box wouldn't work, as the footswitch for a Sheriff plugs into the INPUT 1 socket and uses a TRS connection to switch between the two channels. Thanks Victory

    Does the Presence affect the headroom?

    • @VictoryAmps
      @VictoryAmps  5 лет назад +1

      Everything affects everything, but not in an overtly obvious way. You will perceive different overdrive characteristics with the presence up and down, but we wouldn’t necessarily say that one setting is ‘better’ for higher headroom. It’s an EQ taste thing really, although the feel and response change too. Cheers!
