We're back giving another tragic EA house a makeover. This time we're in Evergreen Harbour, giving a poor unfortunate soul a minor face lift. ENJOY!

I swear I've been saying this since I started playing sims 4. EA may hate us or something because most of its buildings are grotesque. Devon is the voice of the sims community

Before anyone comments, there is a column I missed on the front left of the porch... I only saw it once I edited, and it made me FUMING. (I also forgot a dresser for the teen....still a better house than before though lol) Enjoy the video darlings x

Watching this really makes me wish EA would add a bunch of modern furniture to the base game. The quality of the newer assets is miles ahead of where it started. The original base game item aesthetic looks like it’s from someone’s grandmother’s house. The developer made houses are always so ugly because it’s always whatever the new aesthetic is mixed with grandmother. And not in a cute granny chic kind of way. Just dusty and sad

This is supposed to be the Tinkers house, isn't it? This is a gorgeous version that maintains it's original style. I always felt this house didn't fit the Tinkers personalities. I redid it once to reflect the family better. This has given me an urge to redo my redo.
I'm not into the "lore" of TS4, so I really wouldn't have known this lol
I completely agree. I've always felt that the house fits neither the neighbourhood, nor the characters. I'd never actually considered the idea of it being old, and then developed around, so I think i'll use that. Perhaps they bought it at auction as a fixer upper and Tina is doing a green renovation. It still does seem like a very small lot for the style of house though.

I think this was a reject house from Willow Creek that they decided just to throw in here and add a couple of Eco Lifestyle items that make 0 sense. Hideous and ill-fitting for this world. Aden, you saved it, for sure.

Just makes me wonder if EA devs are under pressure and have little to no time to invest in these sort of base builds. I wonder when they started outsourcing base game builds to popular simmers...?
I could listen to you roast EA builds all day! I just demolished this house recently and built a craftsman in its place. Because the Tinkers like to “craft” things.
PLEASE do this to Judith Ward’s mansion if you haven’t yet! Worst thing ever!
What about the Landgraab monstrosity? Or the Real of Magic school? The more expensive the lot and house on it and the ugliest they are.

Immediately thought of McMansion, too - the sort of horrible suburban house you drive past and scream about the fenestration to your poor passengers. Gawd.

i've got "juice" goggles on tonight and at first glance i saw the original EA build and thought "oh it's not the worst, at least for them" but the more i looked at the details the angrier i got-- unrelated to their lot restrictions, there was no excuse for that initial roofing or window placement.
i do love a good reno that improves the lot without completely changing the structure or aesthetic of the original build--i especially like the entrance hall, with the color of the rug and bookshelf contrasting with the walls.
edit: idk if you've ever renovated StrangerVille Overlook before (you might've built a new house in its place in let's build the worlds for some original characters), but the inside of that house is so offensively ugly if you're looking for reno recommendations

i will never get over that one backward roof piece! how did something like that make it through? it's giving 'forgot to put a toilet in the bathroom' or 'stairs to nowhere'.
As Aden says,, "it's the Sims" then gives you that stare as in, you KNOW what I'm working with. 😉

Just do them all, all of them up to the point where they started using people who could actually build to build them. The Charms mansion needs help. The Amicable Acolytes house needs a miracle....I get there's only so much ugly you can look at in one day, but you literally are saving the worlds.

There’s so many base game objects in the original build that I doubt it was made for Eco Lifestyle at all.
Looks like they just plopped in some of the skill objects and called it a day.
I don't think I've ever built a house without using Alt ever since I discovered that feature. I applaud your discipline! Lol
I would love to see you give a good ol' bash to the horribly iconic Ophelia Villa, the Goth's house, while keeping it victorian, quirky, vintage and sophisticated. I've been trying to do it myself and, I mean, the house needs a exorcism.
I would love to see that Strangeville house bunker under the crashed plane. It's a favorite of mine to reno.
Aden, great video, as always! I was in tears laughing throughout that whole opening.
As for the pack selections staying clicked in the build/buy menu, if I’m not mistaken, Better Build/Buy WILL keep them selected when you go in and out of the menu normally, but any time you use the eye dropper, that menu gets reset.
Just thought you should know “In for a penny, in for a pounding” has become part of my daily thoughts lol
Oan, Yes! Please do more of EA renovations, I would like to see you do more of them. Try glimmerbrook the house with no back door but stairs.
OMG the more you look at it, the worst it gets. This is definitely McMansion level of horrible architecture. Maybe they were going for it exactly and we didn't get the joke... hahaha
I'll say this, the house still look out of place, but now it looks intentional. It looks like an old house that was kept in the area and didn't change with the modernization around, but that was exactly the plan. Much, much better now. And base game! Impressive!

You know what probably happened, someone at EA forgot he or she had to make a house and they haphazardly slapped things here and there--as I do sometimes (ha ha), and turned it in--just in time for the pack to come out, and they were hoping no one would notice....they were wrong. Anyway, I like watching you build because you give me ideas. I have several for this build. A lot of missed opertunities.

Nice job Aiden! Maybe you can do that BIG house in Windenburg where Marcus Flex (?) is living. That build has a lot of potential but the colour scheme on that one is to cry for hahah 🙃😅
This is such an amazing improvement on what has to be one of the worst EA builds! I love that you are trying to keep to the pack and EA limitations for these rebuilds too. Vlaad's mansion (using base game and the vampires pack) could be a really interesting future rebuild - it's not the worst of EA builds, but it's one that could have been made so much more inspiring and immersive to play in.
Honestly haven't spent much time in this world! It irks me that I haven't spent much time getting to know each lot, house, household, world tbh! 😳🤦🏽♀️"note to self - get your finger out woman! 🤨"
But just want to say Aden, fantabulous renovation... even my mediocre building skills is better than that monstrosity you so masterfully improved.

I came to play in this lot when Eco Lifestyle first came out, a fire started and no one could get to it because of the dodgy landscaping and everyone died 😭😭😭I’ve not been back since!

i honestly can’t believe EA signed off on that build. It feels very odd for Eco Lifestyle/Evergreen Harbor as well?????? the only explanation i can think of is that this was built a long time ago for base game and they just used it last minute for eco lifestyle when they realised they needed another lot built

You just made realize 'Why' the single windows didn't get the color update! Darn it as I thought they were an over sight but instead not part of the base game.
