I found this very informative! Great video. The only thing that is currently stopping me is what type of staple is supposed to be used, and what length? No other video or forum i have come across dives into this in detail. Would you be able tell us what staple length or type you typically use for this method of transition?
Good and helpful tip. I am a hard surface floor installer. I don't install carpet but do have to trim carpet at doors where a laminate or vinyl plank transition meets carpet. Do you have any videos showing how to get a good clean cut on your carpet when cutting it to tuck up against a transition strip from carpet to a hard surface floor transition? Thanks.
Man, I’ve been wondering how my transition was so flush…now I know! Thanks dude!
What staples were you using?
Any type of staples will work, you can use a hand stapler or hammer stapler.
What kind of nail gun are you using? or is it a special carpet staple gun??
Is this engineered hard wood? If not, does this work with engineered hardwood? Is that a staple gun? What kind?
Use a Z bar and if it's a cheap carpet then you feel the gripper when you walk through. Plus you probably see the staples the the carpet not a good look
wow that looks good!
So will it be left like that ??? Hope not , what about a transition piece where it meets ??
All y’all fools saying use a Z strip/bar. That shizz looks ugly as heck. What he did is exactly what is in my house and has been for 17 years smh. Excellent job.
It looks the same in the end... the only good thing about the z bar is u won't fell the tack strip win your bear footed
Water restoration techs hate this!
cheapwad I bet! Staples on staples on staples then you pull the strip with the carpet to remove the padding
What size staple did you use?
ArmyMedicRN thanks for dropping by! those are tiny 9/16 staples
Thanks
can that work if its engineered wood or do you need space for expansion?
J. D. Yep you can "turn and tack" up to the engineered wood in a doorway transition like this and it'll be all good
@@CarpetExpertBlueprint Except you'll void your warranty.
HuskyKMA thanks for connecting and sharing your feedback! If you don’t mind please expand a little on warranties and how this will void them thanks!
@@CarpetExpertBlueprint Hmmmmm..... :::crickets::::
Hey Mike thank you for your video's. If you were to install carpet in a room but bordered it with 3/4" hardwood solid Alder. Would you use a 15 gauge angel nailer on those 2-3 rows around the room? and if so what nails would work best to keep the boards from lifting over time?
James Williams thank you! I like your plan and hardwood borders look really slick but I honestly have never installed hardwood flooring so I'm not sure which nails to use.
Try reaching out to "floors by southern guys" they do a lot of videos as well and I think they cover all flooring installations. They may be able to point you in the right direction on this one
Thanks! Great tip. 🙂
Tiffany's Creations thanks for the feedback and checking it out!
good work, all the best from Ireland
Thanks for dropping by!
Hey dude that’s what Z bars are for .. you just made a hideous mistake in my opinion. That tack strip fitted across a doorway will eat its way back through that carpet in a month or so ... so unpro !!
What kind of gun is that?
Chris Frate thanks for connecting! That’s a Crain electric tacker. Being real, it’s not the best model out there but you can pick them up for about $140.00
Can I use a hand stapler if I don’t have an electric stapler gun?
Keeping is 100 I’ve done it and it works but long term it won’t hold up real well
Ok cool I’ll get a stapler gun in that case thanks for the feedback.
👍🏼
Guys please use a zbar
Seriously this is laughable.... why not just put a Z plate on 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Liam Wilson shoot a video and show how it’s done
There's nothing classier than metal bar between your carpet and wood
@@CarpetExpertBlueprint He couldnt do a worse job, a staplegun...Really!!!
Next time use a zbar
Awful. Use a transition bar
that sucks
Looks crappy
Love it
