@@HumbertoTorres-r6r If you're asking me, I use spray-on Pam. I initially seasoned it inside and out with bacon grease and vegetable oil. Since then, I use Pam every time I do a cook.
Great almost 1 year review Paulie. I use a spray mineral oil on the outside of my pit boss. That linseed oil sure makes your offset shine. I’ve thought about getting one of these. Just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
Nice update review. Bought one recently and gonna put it together this weekend. Question, I see that you put gasket tape around the inside of the cook chamber door, did you put any high heat sealant or gasket tape between the firebox and the cook chamber.
I didn't put any tape on there, it was already on it. I didn't do anything to it except add the two thermometers and oil it on the outside every use. I work selling BBQ professionally and smoke leaks are not a worry in my opinion. Opening the smoking chamber and firebox lids are a problem if doing it too much. I recently did tighten the nuts and bolts for they will loosen over time with the heat. This is a great offset smoker. Take care of it, and it will always be there to take care of you. Thanks for the great comment!
@@PaulieDetmurds Didn't know sealant was included for the door, nice. Thanks for the reply Paulie. FYI, born, raised and still living in Orange County Calif. but went to Lapeer, Michigan to be married by a good friend who was a priest and pastor of the catholic church at that time. Beautiful state.
Great info Paulie . I can’t wait to get a smoker when I finally move into my new house . I was back and forth what to get but I already had my picks wiggled down to the chargrilled champ or a traeger. Your backyard looks awesome! Like 20
Well, I think the Traeger is all pellet? I do have a Pit Boss Pellet smoker as well. I would probably go with that at first if wanting to start smoking food items. Unless You are already experienced?? Thank You!
Yeah Jessie won’t even spend a couple hundred on a smoker or grill. He is that much of a tightwad😂. Nice that it still is painted so well. I do like those grates. They seem nice and heavy duty. Has a nice little basket in the offset side too. Pretty sure that old one Jessie had didn’t have a basket. Think it was just open space with maybe a grate in it. Our leg rusted off on one side. Jessie propped it with a rock 😆 It really does look like a very nice unit. And you did a nice review of it.
If I had to give away all my outdoor cooking gear, and keep just one, it would be this smoker that I would keep. Jessie is a Man,...I think he is considering a future decision? LOL Thank You my YT Sister!
@@HumbertoTorres-r6r the seasoning I used on the inside was just a spray can of canola oil. On the outside, I used the same, but I have also used linseed oil too. (Outside only). Some may argue on this, but I say used what ever kind of food grade oil on the inside. On the outside, I say use what ever oil you like. Just oil every time you use it. Thank You.
Your offset smoker looks really nice. Hmm... I might get some linseed oil to coat the externals of our grill. Good to know the maintenance needed to help keep the life of these grills.
I love my Grand Champ, brother! My firebox is taking a beating, but as long as i keep it oiled, it's all good! Great video, Paulie!
I hear ya, and I respect ya!
Thank you, Paulie! It's mutual respect, brother!
What oil do you use? Regular vegetable oil spray? Thanks!

What kind of oil do you use to season the inside and outside of the smoker?? I heard seasoning it makes it last wayyyy longer! Thanks!
