    Looks great and heavy duty and well built. I'm worried about what my WSM would say if I got one...never used an offset smoker either. All the best!

      @RaceviceSmokehouse  2 года назад +1

      I used to do most of my cooking on an offset smoker but it rusted out. It wasn’t that great of a built one. I will always keep cooking on my WSM too. But felt the need to get back into doing some cooks with an offset. I really love cooking with only wood.

    Great assembly vid! I also felt the need for some food grade silicone on the smoke stack and fire box. I have gotta ask, did you also end up with an extra "A" bolt or screw to spare? Hope you are enjoying the Grand Champ! 👍

    • @RaceviceSmokehouse
      @RaceviceSmokehouse  2 года назад +1

      Lol. I did have the extra A as well. Thanks for checking it out! My only issue so far is that the legs are uneven. There’s a wobble to the smoker cause all four legs don’t sit right. I’m sure a little bit of physical persuasion may fix that, but for now it’s kind of annoying.
      Getting ready to do the burn in and seasoning today. Been on the road for work so haven’t been able to play with it as much as I would like.

    I am getting this model when I return from the Philippines (I just cooked a whole 108 lb pig on a bamboo pole too) in August. Here is what I want to ask. Do you think it would better this rig if one was to paint the outside with some high heat clear paint before ever using it? Also, was your silicone food grade or no? Not gonna nit-pic ya if it wasn't, just asking. Ok,...one more thing,...the exhaust stack has one screw,...did you consider adding another to secure it more properly? Thank You!

    • @RaceviceSmokehouse
      @RaceviceSmokehouse  Год назад +1

      I know the silicon is high temp. Not 100% if it was food grade, but I do know it was food safe. I made sure to investigate that for sure.
      I never thought of adding another screw to the stack. Between the silicon, the screw and a decently tight fit I have no worries about it.
      As far as the paint, the only issue I’ve had is the firebox losing some paint from the heat. A high temp clear coat or paint would probably help. The rest of the cookers paint has held up wonderfully.
      Sorry for the delay in reply, was out of town on vacation with the family! Cheers my friend and safe travels!
