I never thought I'd be interested in grass until I started reading about how important native grasses are, and I realized I'd have no way to tell if a grass was native or invasive without learning some basics. This video is super helpful!
awesome Hayley, I'm glad it was helpful! I'm a big fan of using native species whenever possible to reduce inputs (there are also some imported grasses that are better than others). Thanks for spreading positivity on the internet!
@@akozy... It's still really hard :/. My strategy is to plant a new one every year, so I can learn to recognize them slowly. I went with one that had a distinctive blue-silvery color my first year to make it easier. And I grew some in containers as well as putting seed out so I could look at the containers for comparison.
If people cared more about their grass, you would have great success on YT, don't give up, times change, news could come out that certain types of grass are sustainable to covid. Lol This was very informative and useful, thanks for sharing.
Thanks a bunch. It's ok if I'm not the next big RUclips star--I am happy to share my knowledge to those that care. If there is a grass that kills covid, I suspect grasses would get tons of love!
I need a grass expert to contact me. The grass I have I’ve never seen before. It stays green all year and it’s very soft but shaped kinda like the needles of a pine.
could you explain what the difference is between these very similar looking plants that have long silvery awns : stipa pennata sipa barbata stipa borysthenica stipa joannis celak stipa pulcherrima stipa tersa stipa zalesskii ?

This is a really great video! Great texbook-style pictures show up as he demonstrates the parts on the live specimen.
