Get rid of the bars and adult entertainment - add clothing boutiques, gaming arcades for the whole family - Toy stores etc. drugstores ( no cannabis) pizza parlors, family friendly restaurants of all nationalities . Downtown is now only for drinking , and swinging adults . Imagine the absolute shock of out of town visitors that are attending conventions etc where the only place to see “ Albuquerque “ is from their hotels , is the dump that downtown shows to them with no where else to go on foot. . Oh, last, but not least the horror of going to visit OldTown by riding on ART with all the “ unhoused” and drug and prostitution deals going on under the covered bus stop fixed tents, which our city so gleefully spent millions of not only Bernalillo County tax payers money and matched by Federal funding dollars to destroy all of Central ( especially businesses. ) from the Westside to the East mountains . Get rid of ART . Remove all the street barriers and medians that are preventing people ( automobiles) from turning unto streets and businesses without driving blocks away from their planned destination, ( only to wait for a street turn arrow signal to go back to the intended destination) ., return Central Avenue to it original plan and design .
If you don't like downtown then remember come election time and stop voting democrat and quit trying to turn this state into california!!! How about that
It was republican Mayor Richard Berry In office December 1 2009- December 1, 2017 who was calling the shots on A.R.T. by not the Democrats. Google- Bus Rapid Transit Line Moves Forward in Albuquerque - New Transportation for historic Route 66 - article by Kelsey E. Thomas March 24 2016. FYI ( not the democrats).
I think there needs to be more events and entertainment to bring people downtown. I really wanted an arena or united soccer stadium downtown that could be adaptable for a variety of events like soccer basketball, hockey, football games, concerts, monster truck rallies, circuses, gathering of nations, and graduations that would really bring people downtown year round. It would bring a lot more foot traffic that would support buisnesses and prompt more people to stay in downtown before and after events. I think that in itself would dramatically change downtown and bring investments for bigger developments like condo high rises and offices that would make the area a vibrant 24/7 downtown it should be for a city our size. Just dramatically more people living in downtown as well. Tucon our sister city is known to have a much better downtown than us so we need to elevate our game to make ours as atttractive as can be
Do you think city council members will be surprised by these suggestions? They ought to read these comments too. Should visit vibrant cities and copy them.
It's hard to attract good businesses that cater to tourism when the local government caters to businesses that attract the very thing tourists try to avoid.
1.8 million dollars won’t help the homeless stay out of the streets because they chose that lifestyle, there’s so many resources for the homeless but the majority don’t take advantage of the help instead they want to live like that.
@@WELVAS. yes, you can help the homeless with food, shelter, money etc. After all that won’t keep them away from the streets the “drugs” is what is addicting as much as you want to help them they themselves need to want to quit and stop the “drugs”. Look if someone was homeless without doing drugs im sure they would try anything possible to be successful in life and not be in that situation. There’s motivational speakers who have been homeless and became a millionaire.
@@Ricky-yf8ck You didn't really present a solution other than saying they need to help themselves. The same is happening right now with that logic. What they need is addiction treatment services. Yes, some bit of self help is needed at the end of the day, but so is the services to help them
No more sanctuary city ! No more beggars on street corners. No homeless on streets.

I hate the ART so much. The bus system already worked.
@@cshubs Yes- And the city is still using the curbside buses , to and fro the “ International District’ and the Sandhills of Unser Blvd- 🥸
Add more high rise condos change the skyline
Add more everything. Higher buildings, stores, more bars etc

DEMOCRAT RAN CITY FOR YOU😂
Woke policies and woke judges.
The price of having the sorriest Police Department in the country is expensive.
Fentanyl and Tranq horse tranquilizer and lovely woke policies and woke judges destroy everything around and make liberal cities unlivable.
Homeless and druggies.
They should be putting the 1.8 million towards solving our problem with all the homeless people.
The majority of the homeless in the city stay homeless because they don’t want the help!! They chose that path.
