You forgot to add some other differences: The Apex has a light on the end of the handle so you can see better when you're edging or using attachments. The Apex also has a "garage door"for accessing the brush roller from the top. The Vertex model Shark left those two features out. Also the pet power brush that comes with both of these when buying the true pet version is not motorized like the one they sell separately on their site, it's vacuum-driven. I really wanted to get the Vertex to upgrade bin size but leaving out the featuress I mentioned above that the Apex has, changed my mind. Also the clear bin on the Vertex, looks worse after usage then the smoke bin on the Apex. I'm hoping when they go for round 3 of the duo clean that they will make some of these changes and have all this in one machine, along with the longer cord 😁
I have the sharp vertex on a 90-day trial and I have lots of cats so it's doing really good except it does not get the edges very well at all and you didn't mention that.
i love my shark but they all need small changes.. such as better wheels or at least ability to buy replacements.. being easier to take apart for servicing and cleaning
I've had my vertex 5 weeks now. 3 women in the house with butt length thick black hair. Needless to say I vacuum up a ton of hair every week(think the size of a softball). I've never had even a single hair get wrapped around the brushroll. I do however leave it on carpet mode most of the time so the brushroll spins faster. This is the only reason I upgraded from the n800. I was cutting soo much hair from it every single time I vacuumed the house. The apex has those teeth that some are having problems with breaking off so I went with the Vertex. Couldn't be more pleased.
Thanks so much for this. Test videos are great but testing it on hair once or twice won't tell you how it handles multiple trips around the house with hair in every room. I wanted that confirmation.
I have had a rotator for the last 10 years. It is still working fine, but can't get the dog smell out of it so when you run it,,, it stinks. Just bought a Shark Stratos today. Can't wait.
Yeah, I saw that. I'm not sure if it got changed or we just made an error. In any case, on Shark's website it now says it is 0.88 quarts. In either case, my apologies for the error.
@@ModernCastle no worries! I don’t even think shark knows the dust bin size. I watched a qvc for the same apex and they said 1.5. Oh well, I bought the vertex this morning. No, not very well. But that can be said for most vacuums with a roller brush. If you use one of the straight suction hand attachments that should be fine though.
In your experience does the zero M head work just as good as the power fins for keeping off hair? And do you miss a light on the handle which the vertex doesn't have? Thanks.
Do both vacs have capability (one of the 3 settings) for the brushes to stop turning like on the Shark Rotator? When I vac my wool rugs I turn off the brushes.
@@ModernCastle I was told that the zero M does not. Consumer reports says the same thing. Can you show us that feature? " Lacks a brush on/off switch, which safeguards bare floors and prevents scattered dust and debris"
@@halfmoongh Just double checked the vacuum in person, you're right. It does not have an off switch for the brushroll. Both brushrolls still spin, but the carpet brushroll spins slower than it does on carpet cleaning modes. Though the idea that this vacuum is going to fling debris around is misleading. The whole idea of the open face soft roller brush is to capture debris on hard surfaces before it can be flung away.
@@ModernCastle Maybe it doesn't matter, but if I'm using the attachments, and it's sitting on carpet where I need, it, I do not want the roll to be running on my carpet. I had a vac ruin a rug that way.
Buy Shark Vertex - amzn.to/3144KuL Buy Shark Apex - amzn.to/2YTyxpW ERROR CORRECTION - Shark Apex has a dust bin of 0.88 quarts, not 1.5 quarts as we said in the video. My apologies for the error. Questions? Please let us know below. We do our best to answer all questions within 24 hours.
Apex has a light on the handle (which is actually very useful). Vertex doesn't. Apex is able to open garage head and clean up the brush rollers. Vertex just has a slight increase in suction that doesn't make that much of difference in everyday real world use. Apex is cheaper new and used. Conclusion Apex is a better choice. For the price of one vertex you can almost get 3 Apexs. And I've bought a used Apex for 200 even 150. Save your money get the Apex.
You are looking at other models. Apex is not 3X more expensive than Vertex. Within the last several weeks if you were buying them new they price has been between $0 and $50 difference. The models featured in this video are the Shark Vertex DuoClean upright and Shark APEX DuoClean upright.

Is there a difference between the vertex sold at walmart (AZ1810) and the vertex sold other places(AZ2002)?
I believe Walmart's Vertex has fewer attachments / accessories. The vacuum is functionally the same though.
