    1. Why wouldn't you put a cover with a hole for the plant over the dutch bucket? i get a lot of leaves in my backyard.
    2. What's a good way to trellis the tomatoes, cukes growing outdoor? the perlite/coir doesn't seem sturdy enough to stick in a trellis.
This is a great video. I enjoy your humour too.

You're a genius! I never would have thought to make that nutrient bucket a DWC !

The 3 videos were excellent. Thanks for sharing. Why the Dutch bucket system and not NFT or plastic bag with wood shavings. I’ve seen a couple of cucumber growers here is South Africa using black plastic bags and wood shavings.

Lots of options. The fun is trying what works best for you in your area.

Greenhouse Solutions Thank you for your reply. I think I’m sold on the Dutch bucket system. Its worth a try.

Does rain mess up the solution ratio and overflow the solution bucket?
If so, how do you know when to add more nutrients?

Yes it can. Normally not enough to matter much, but check your PPM to see how much the rain watered down the nutrients. See our videos on nutrients. Thanks

thank you sir, excellent video!! 3 Questions : Is the nutrient water run for just 15 minutes at a time and only a few times a day? is that for any kind of plant? what about places with a hot climate? (I live where it gets up to 113F in the summer for almost 4 months - Jul, Aug, Sep and Oct), we'd have to 'top-up' the nutrient reservoir quite often : (

Yes on timer - can run all the time as well, but not needed. Works for all plants we have tried. hot climate - some shade would help, the nutrient mix is not expensive if you use the Masterblend mix. May be too hot for some plants to set fruit as well.
