The traction control in this game is the worst since 2010. It gets to the point where you cannot even turn a corner with 0 throttle without losing the rear, and don't even get me started on the curbs
What I've also found for controller players is changing the throttle saturation. If you increase it, the initial threshold for your throttle input is much less sensitive. Meaning there's more travel in the trigger for you to have a better window and be more accurate with your input.
Just got into F1 few years ago , never played driving games . It’s a hard learning curve atm for me on controller. Thanks for the tips and tricks . Slowly getting better / used to driving with no assists .
I literally have everything on zero except for the steering saturation which I've increased to 14 and im top 1 or 2% at most tracks on a ps4 controller you dont have to change anything just put the time in
@@Massivecarcrash i just said that you dont need to change anything you can be really quick by leaving everything on zero. If anything increasing the linearity will slow you down
great tips! i found for me it helps to be one gear up from where I would be WITH traction control on slow speed corners. trac: medium... gear 3? no trac: shortshift to 4 right away almost
Brilliant video mate thanks so much. I switched off TC last season but this one is another step up. I don't think my throttle pedal helps me because it's way too lose. I'm going to fit a stiffer spring. Thanks again though, great info. ✌️😎
I can do corners with TC off but without it I’ll go from front row to P20 every race start. I cannot for the life of me split the difference between either spinning out or being turtle slow at every lights out.
Without a doubt, this is also my first F1 game and is the hardest game I've ever played, racing sims like project cars 2 or sim cades like GT are no where near as frustrating. I just can't figure out what I'm supposed to do to take the corners in time trials like the ghost cars. I've practiced every night ( 2 weeks now) for 1-2 hours per night on the same track and still I either go turtle slow or spin out in the corners, or touch a curb that disqualifies the lap. Maddening.
I cant wait....until you do your baku guide. I just did 16 race starts....every time, the ai plows into turn 1, i swear its a bug. Not to mention, hope you do a race start video as well, i think this is the worst game so far on starts.
I am in shambles with TC being off. I'm very new to the series and currently on controller (not sure if I want to spend the money on a wheel or not). Was on full TC at the start, but trying to force myself to drive with no TC. Problem I'm having is my laps times are much better with full TC than with no TC. In My Team, I am always qualifying between P20-P22 on 70 difficulty even when I feel I laid down a great lap. Every time I think I can get on the throttle a bit more out of a corner than the last lap, I spin. It's definitely disheartening knowing I'm so slow vs the AI coming out of corners, but if I push any harder I spin anyway.
@@Werkvuur Oh i know lol drives me nuts but still happy I can now play with no traction and not spin every 30 seconds lol. Maybe next patch they will fix straight line speeds of AI.
I found a way to beat traction, im on controller, i feather my R2 mid corner to avoid spinning, i used to struggle at turn 8 and 10 at Bahrain now i dont worry about traction, its just all about practice.
From my experience the force feedback sucks. It's often very inconsistent often losing traction without warning. I've had it the other way when the force feedback is over reacting to anything. It's a shame really because I was so excited to start a my team career but with the starter car it's almost impossible to not have a freak spin for no reason
Man… any time I think I figured out how to drive with no TC in this game I go back to 0. Other than opening the differential do you recommend anything to help with corner exit traction?
I just bought the game and i still have hardly any vibration in my controller, do you know why? + could you do a video about racing without locking assist? Or however you call it.
You can up your feedback settings in the feedback / controller options. When you click it there should be an option and I'd highly recommend maxing them out so you get the best feel
I’m gentle on the throttle like extremely gentle because as soon as I put a quarter of throttle I spin out, I’ve adjusted aero to get more downforce it helped a tad bit but I loose so much in the straight (10-15mph slower) I even adjusted the camber to get more rear tire contact on the track but it’s not helping, putting the car in manual and short shift is honestly the only thing that is helping me not spin out but I was kind of hoping there was another way besides short shifting
You could use higher gears on average. As that would eliminate the need to short shift. Other than tweaking some settings that I wouldn't recommend you tweak, you can only really practice what I've discussed in the video :)
@@BushiAntz LOL this is what I was thinking. Without TC, I'm scared to death to apply throttle coming out of corners. I think short shifting might be the only thing to help but I find manual on a controller kind of hard. I think a wheel with paddle shifters would be much easier but never tried. Maybe I'll have to buy a G920 and see what happens.
Short-shift is the biggest advice to give, don't be too aggressive on the throttle. F1's traction physics isn't realistic so you have to drive a bit differently
First off, really appreciate your channel! I’m relatively new to sim racing and you have helped me a ton getting to a respectable point! I was actually struggling with TC and an upcoming league race I have. I usually run on medium, more as a bit of a safety net to spinning and ruining a whole race. We are about to do Jeddah and some of the guys were saying full TC is VERY rewarding on the long corners, so I tried it. My lap went from a 1:28.8 to a 1:28.2 instantly. 😳. I lost time coming out of turn 2, but gained everywhere else and was even able to drop my wings. Is something broken here or should I be looking to do something else on the longer turns?
I think if you're gaining time using full TC then there is something fundamentally wrong with how you get on the throttle. I'd suggest taking a look at some hotlaps from those not using TC and compare it to your own :)
@ SERussett I've had totally the same experience, both testing it myself and speaking to others. I can't speak for No TC, but for Medium TC, even piling in loads of laps to get better, at best, I can only MATCH my Full TC times on the same track. I can't beat them, and sometimes Med TC is even slower than Full TC by a few tenths, even spending a lot of time getting used to it. I'm also able to run more aggressive setups on Full TC, with sharper turning and cornering because the traction is stabler. Bottom line - I'm not at all convinced that Med TC is faster than full TC on this game. In fact, I'm seeing the opposite, and so are others. Might have been true on previous games, but I'm seeing the opposite on '22. You can also optimize the full TC setting by still driving AS THOUGH you were still using Medium TC, which reduces the bog-down and minimizes the time lost. Overall, I'm currently faster and much more consistent on Full TC than Med - no contest.
TC in this game is utter dog shit. Having it full on is the fastest way to go. It is near impossible learning throttle control on this game. Don’t even try learning it on here
It could be a few things but if you're that far off the pace then it's most likely something fundamental. For example, could be Traction Control or it might just be the lines you take. I'm going to say maybe along the lines of the latter.
