Please somebody explain to me why do people complain so much about the rotary simulator, I think its Awesome, this is a really nice board, considering all that you get for under a Grand, & the rotary sim is highly tweekable, independent horn & drum acceleration, actually it's better than most,
Can you save edited sounds to registrations? For example, if I adjust the envelope attack level on a synth sound with the draw bars can it be saved or are draw bar settings (envelope settings in synth mode) only in real time?
www.roland.com/uk/support/spares/ The knobs have a tendency to work loose and go walkies - when I got my replacements I used a dab of superglue to keep them in place - all fine since then :-)
Hi Mark, so sorry for the late reply. Here is the info you need. How to know the version Before you start, check the system program version of your VR-09. 1. While holding down [ EXIT ], turn power ON. * Continue holding down [ EXIT ] until the version information appears on the display. 2. The version will be displayed at the Display. 3. Turn power OFF. * If this shows the latest version, there’s no need to update your VR-09.
Nice work! I just bought the VR-09.... I don't know if it has this version in it or not.... I take it that this OS "replaces" whatever sounds are currently in my board? If so, since I really like many of the sounds, how can I "recapture" them? What I see in the 'synth" section of my current OS is a lot of "saw" and "sine" stuff... Also, are there any of those EDM "percussion" sounds in this OS? I mean the sort of marimba-vibe-whatever sounds that EDM uses for "moving percussion" (if that's the proper term .. I'm a saxophonist primarily, so please forgive my lack of lingo!) Thanks...
Hi Jeffrey and thank you! You can get the latest update here. www.rolandcorp.com.au/support/by_product/v-combo_vr-09/updates_drivers/7097 you can also get additional sounds here. axial.roland.com/articles/the-cover-band-collection/ let me know how you go. enjoy :-)
Thanks, Mark! Very much appreciated! I'll let you know my results.... Here's a dumb question: when I load in new sounds, do I lose the old ones? Or can they be saved first? (I'm a saxophonist, so bear with me....!). Are you familiar with Sweetwater's $30 registration flash drive? Good thing to get or not?
Thanks for posting the sounds..I have a question. When I put program existing electric keyboard sounds into my registration, the sustain pedal stops working. Any remedy or fix for that??
Hi Al. Thanks for your comment. This is an unusual question which I haven't come across before. Can you send me more info or even better, a video of what you are selecting and what is happening. Thank you. Mark.
great demo!! please! My version is 1.0... I need to upgrade at older versions before this new ? either version 1.3 is complete ? it is not necessary to install the 1.1 and 1.2 before.
Muy buena presentación, very muchas gracias :-)! I´will have more enjoy with my vr09, but this Keyboard still have a great error (or horror), that is the problem with the leslie effect with the percussion, I can´t accept that the rotary speaker affect the percussion! Vamos Roland think on it!!!
From the Roland sites Sal. The Australian site is here. It will be released very soon, I'll keep you posted. www.rolandcorp.com.au/products/details/1269/597/downloads/
Amazing machine, even after all these years. Great demo!
The best demo of this board to date!!!
Great job Mark!!!
Show de bola, meus amigos que tem o VR-09 vão adorar.... :)
Hey Ed, thank you my friend! :-)

Other clonewheel organs has a better simulation. VR 09 sounds in factory setting a little bit like the "Tremolo" they included in some older organs.
those people don't realize that most organist don't use internal sims anyway. It's Neo Ventilator or death! :oP
I agree, in comparison to other clones it isn't that good, but, for what you pay and for what this board does, it is really hard to beat the VR-09.
This instrument speaks with some authority. Good demo, thanks
how do i get the new sounds into my keyboard
Great demo. thanks for posting.
+Gary S Thank you Gary, glad you got something from it!
This keyboard is not ridiculous compare to a Korg Kronos or other Nord, and this stuff is on my budget for doing live gig, i think i buy it.
Good job !
I think you could midi this to a controller if you don't like the feel of the keys! I'm going to try that.
Can you save edited sounds to registrations? For example, if I adjust the envelope attack level on a synth sound with the draw bars can it be saved or are draw bar settings (envelope settings in synth mode) only in real time?
Great demo.. thank you or posting!
Sounds nice Mark :)
Thnx Russ :-)
Hi Mark, I am looking for VR 09's drawbar knob in the organ section. Can you advise where can i get one of them? Thanks.
PS. Great video!!

Good day. Do you have available V Combo VR 09 here in Philippines... Thank you
great !
Club Boy thank you 😊
I would love to know what the chord progression that you are playing at the intro which you looped.. thanks.. great video as always
synthartist69 Just listen to it and play it by ear??! Its not that hard man
Hi,... Can you get a nice Tenor sax or Rock sax sound on the VR09?
I'm convinced! Thanks Mark (my wife WON'T thank you however! haha)
***** cheers David, you won't be sorry. This keyboard does amazing things!
Great insight into the V-combo. Can you possibly answer a question regarding midi input please? cheers
Can the midi input only play the organ lower, pedal or can it play the synth or piano section? thanks
You need some Mellotron sounds (strings-choir) to really beat the Nord Electro series
Thaneco although that is double the price.
Get the VR-09 update version 1.03 with the great new sounds from here www.rolandcorp.com.au/support/eula/vr09_sys_v103.zip
Great demo. Just bought VR09...How do know if the 1.03 patch has been installed?

So, when are they going to post the update?
Very soon Philip, I'll keep you posted.
Thanks!
i want to teach me about update to 1.03.
I wonder if future firmware updates will make the VR-09's organ sound as good as a Hammond SK1 or Nord Electro 4D / 5D. Wishful thinking...
WOW!! Super Video! This is so so cute! Amazing! Thank you so much for this great Video. Very best regards from Anni from Germany 💕
Thank you Anni.
So where do I get the update?
From the Roland sites Sal. The Australian site is here. It will be released very soon, I'll keep you posted. www.rolandcorp.com.au/products/details/1269/597/downloads/
Mark Watson Thank you, Mark... Looking forward to it.
I wish you could get a good Hammond sound. ex. Whiter Shade Of Pale. The Leslie effect is pretty nice but not a good Hammond sound.
Is it weighted?
A bit late here, but no, it's a non-weighted synth action.
