The TDI power plant can manage 24 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. That might not sound like a lot, but consider this is a full-sized luxury car getting the same fuel economy as a tiny compact. The price for the A7 TDI is $66,900.
The Audi A7 is drop dead gorgeous thanks to the sleek hatchback design. But the car is not just good to look at; the A7 excels in virtually every other aspect. Under the hood is a 3.0 liter turbocharged V-6 diesel engine that makes 240 horsepower and 428 lb-ft. of torque. Believe it or not the TDI model only weighs 66 lbs. more than the regular gas model.
Inside the Audi A7 the interior is beautiful. The most important thing about a luxury car's interior is the ability to make the owner feel important like they have arrived; and the A7 does just that. Driving the diesel is different. It takes a few seconds for the turbo to build power. The driving experience is pure bliss. This is a proper sports sedan with an ACE in the hole. That would be the great fuel economy.

Here in the uk we get the twin turbo version which produces 310bhp and 479 lb/ft of torque.
That really is very Impressive economy and the price of $2500 over the gas engine is not bad. Considering in 1981 I paid a $1200 premium for a Diesel Upgrade on a GM ill-fated and only got 28 HWY. MPG and blown Fuel injectors with in the first year plus lost 4th in the tranny. And I insisted I wanted a Diesel! I paid $12,900 and I couldn't get $5000 trade in a month later. Thanks GM!
About the fuel economy... That's not actually that impressive at all... Well at least where I come from, where petrol/diesel is actually expensive. Fantastic car though nonetheless.

Dunno about these diesel engines. They seem kinda old fashion and they smell. Not too different from older people. The engine sounds a tad "truck'ish" as well. Diesel is terribly environmentally hostile in low temperatures with the diesel particles becoming a real threat to all things living, that makes diesel cars super expensive in my part of the world cause the government have chosen to tax diesel cars trough the roof to make people buy something else, like petrol or hybrid models. I'm not in the US but the Audi's that are sold over there is made in either China or Mexico, so much for the "made in German" quality feel. It takes away some of the charm.
